Wow, seriously? That is... horseshit. Stupid as hell. WTF?
I mean... maybe good for encouraging more ranked 5's but.... this kills the solo queue.
I am neither gaining nor losing league points at Diamond I. Is this a bug or working as intended? edit: and I'm not at 100 league points.
Also this system is so reliant on luck streaks. Like everyone at the top of their division is on their hot streak. Sometimes you get the perfect team, survive by 50 hp on those 1v1 trades allowing you to dominate your lane, etc.

yeah, they'd better fix how that part of the system works fast. Seems like getting into challenger tier is basically entirely luck.

Super fun. Her default splash art is getting an upgrade so now it looks good, although Silent Night and Disco Sona are also really cool. Fanboï. :<
I really don't like it, looks like she's supposed to be some kind of lady-mage-dancer-seductress. The original one shows better than she's a lusician. Also it's totally subjective but knowing that she's a mute I feel her expression on the original conveys it way better. And golden eyes > blue eyes. Esp.when her hair is the exact same color, the splash is higher quality but the portrait looks like some shody duo chrome. >_>
As an illustration/art/hi res pic, I agree that it's definitely an improvement. But as a Sona's depiction I like the original better. (Then again I said the same about LeBlanc and several others... I only really complained about fugliness Yi/Morde, although LB comes close.)

The demotion mechanics are way too harsh, that's what's causing all the lucky streak issues.
I have heard this is going to be addressed!
V. silly that it takes 2 wins to get promoted to 0 points in the next division, but can only take 1 loss to get demoted to 50 points in the previous.

The worst part of it is, her new portrait has a breast reduction, so whenever I play Sona I can't claim to be breast support NA anymore.
(Not that I did that very often).
Although I main Sona so I feel somewhat ripped off by the nerf to her figure.

this is stupid. if im at challenger and have "immunity" why dont i just play until i stockpile some points (like say 100 or so) and then just never leave? if anything it would give people in challenger who are near 0 points incentive not to play, same with people in diamond who have stopped gaining points. riot should have just made it so that you actually have to win more than u lose to gain points (this is what i think is happening to me in challenger right now) starting from diamond tier to make it an actual challenge to get 100 points for your promotion series in the first place.
|
Agreed. New Sona splash is terrible and there is nothing wrong with the old/current one.
|
Elo was probably way more accurate as to your true "skill level" than this divisions. Sure sometimes elo got out of hand but for the most part I'd say your elo was accurate to about 100 points. If you were 2100 you could easily fall or drop to 2k or 2.2k but you'd stagnate around there for the most part.
This challenger series encourages the shit out of winning streaks which is for the most part out of your own control and is very reliant on the team you get.
#bringbackelo
For the most part.

I think Blue/Green eye colour > Gold in this case. If we're going for a Miku expy, then gold eye colour would be wrong. =/

^ yeah it's more that the gold at least creates a contrast with her skin/hair/whatever compared to the blue they used, while retaining the "magical/enigmatic hue" that maybe they shot for.

OR they can just go back to the old fucking system that had nothing wrong with it.
Hell, if they wanted to they could keep this whole league system. Just put back in the normal Elo. Then just have 2 options: show rank in made up division and show rank overall, and be able to sort play like that.
For example, in Diamond you would still be in Teemos Mind Control Shrooms or whatever, only you would have your actual Elo next to your name instead of the LP thing. And in addition you would have an option to increase sorting to include ALL of the Diamond devisions, not just your own, to see where you stand.
The problem with this system is that its STILL based on Elo. Your old Elo never went away. Instead they just draped this new LP system over the top to obscure it. And the problem is that the new system is SO good at obscuring it that the system makes absolutely no sense.

l0l, this new challenger system. Rage away, I won't mind. This is completely warranted. Bad system is hilariously bad. I feel bad for guys like Chrispy and LoCi. ;;

Another case of good in theory, bad in practice. Hopefully Riot works out the promotion/demotion kinks.

I'm honestly not even sure how this would be good in theory. Did we even know about limited # of Challenger players before today?
Edit: 7 day immunity? That is a tad long imo. O_o

What they needed to do with the system was just update the ladder rankings in real time, on their front page. Not really that hard. but NOPE. Decide to do this new bullshit system.

Diamond+ should switch to actual Elo at the very least.
Then you actually SOLVE the stupid challenger problem, at least a little bit, because top Diamond players can look at their Elo, look at the bottom of challenger's Elo, and have incentive to play and catch up.
Aint none of that here.

It's just funny how S3 was just released and people are already challenger... what do they do for the next 6 or so months? At least with Elo keep could keep going up and up, reaching benchmarks like 3k Elo. Now you just watch people fight over Challenger spots?

The funny thing is all of these problems were very well documented with SC2.
I doubt there was a single SC2 player that saw these changes and was excited.
