I feel like I can never be satisfied with LoL patches, there is always some FOTM to hate on......
Every patch I feel happy about some champ getting nerfed and then all the meta sheep will just jump ship to the new FOTM and the whole cycle of whining and nerfing will start again. Yesterday it was Diana, Today it's Kha'zix, Tommorow it will be (Vi maybe? :D)
Srsly Fuck LoL....

Time to break out the Yi/Shaco/Nocturne.

-.- This is the worst idea ever. Half the reason I switched from SC2 to LoL is because I could actually tell where I was. SC2 was boring because you lost that tracker. I can't say enough how much I hate this change. Does Dota2 have ratings visible? Maybe I'll switch... SC2 was boring because its not a good game, not because of the tracking thing. Which i mean honestly if youre switching because of a rating system, you probably dont care enough about the game anyway. You're probably right. Which is why I would consider switching to dota2. do you know? nm, someone answered me. Anyone know of another game that's competitive? i like being competitive more than anything. MMOs don't seem like the correct choice, but you could try Heroes of Newerth if it hasn't changed the MMR system yet.
Instead of MMOs I'd suggest some fighting games like Street Fighter 4 or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Super Smash Bros Melee is also gaining popularity again.

Srsly Fuck LoL.... If League of Legends had some super high skillcap champions as the top tiers this wouldn't be such a problem. Maybe Syndra will be OP this patch and no one will be able to play as her properly. Then you can learn her and win all you like while others won't be able to do the same.
I kind of wish LoL had something that required a lot of APM. Even a fast-paced custom combo ultimate would be incredible(one that would require good timing and the order / speed would matter). I'm really sad that the keyboard in LoL is really easymode and most of the "difficulty" comes from aiming the mouse cursor.

The base value of a creep wave is 105g, or 145g on waves with a cannon minion. Factoring in the 16 gp10 passive, this gives a perfect last-hitter approximately 333 gold per minute, increasing by 6.66 gold every 3 minutes (or 1.11 gold per minute).
The total gold value of all small camps is now 172g. Factoring in passive gold again, this gives a farming jungler 268 gold per minute, increasing by 2.724 gold every minute.
So from the outset (and without considering buff camps) a jungler who can perpetually farm small camps matches a lane which last-hits at 75% accuracy. All it takes for a jungler to completely match a perfect lane is to leech one creep wave every two minutes, and as time passes it only becomes more favorable for the jungler.
We're tip-toeing close to a point where it may be more valuable to send a hard carry into the jungle, knowing that it is the safest place in the game to get a carry farmed. So long as the jungler is in place to cover lanes when there's a recall or a swap they'll get better farm than any lane (possibly much better if you cede built-up creep waves). Whether we've crossed that threshold or not remains to be seen, and depends heavily on whether there are any champions who fit the bill, but it's a distinct possibility.
Hard carries tend to be fragile in jungle.
Things like Shaco would have a tendency to just kill you.

How does the new system stop you from being competitive, SC2 is competitive as hell with the same system. It's all about caring less about who has 10 more ELO points, and more about caring who is in a higher tier, which makes sense since a few ELO means nothing but a whole tier probably does.

Think Vi will have the Jayce effect once she receives QOL buffs (from nearly non-played to OP/banworthy)?

you can still see your progress with what tier of bronze/silver/gold+ etc youre at. at low elo you wont be able to progress past a certain point, or it would be a super slow progress. so it's still somewhat of an indicator

New jungle probably still requires machete, which still sucks , 300 gold sink right there, and possibly the 2nd tier machete item gunna cost a lot of gold too. You shouldn't need to upgrade Machete if you're playing a hard carry; you're going to build damage anyway. In that case Machete is only a 90g sunk cost as it sells for 210g.
can't say that assessment seems quite honest to me considering how late you're likely to sell the machete

The real one is that with the effectiveness of resists nerfed so much, health is pretty much the best stat to get because it protects you against both magic and physical burst. If you saw the debate we had with Xypherous on the forums late last night, Xypherous showed us the direction he would like to take with tanky champions. He did not like how in Season 2, defensive itemization was very strong, so that if a tanky champion got ahead, he would become practically invulnerable, which was the goal of a number of champions, eg Skarner.
He wants tanks to have to actually have relevant tanking abilities, rather than just be able to itemize straight defense, the way Amumu did in Season 2.
Xypherous' point was that earlygame, by reducing the amount of flat penetrations available, the tanky champions should have to itemize health, rather resistances that counter their opponents in lane. Then the tanky champion would be able to look at who is doing well going towards the midgame, and itemize accordingly with resistances.
From http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=33492920#post33492920 As well as all of Xypherous' following posts.
I probably should have pressured him more on the current tanks being more or less the ones with the least tanky abilities, with the exception of Cho'gath. Amumu, Maokai, Malphite, but that late at night I was not thinking amazingly clearly.
He also never answered the part of my post where I point out the lack of a good resistance MR item.
EDIT: Basically my point was exactly that there were a lack of good resistance items for lategame if this is the path he wants to take, and he somewhat dodged responding in that respect.

I'm really glad they're putting in a new ranking system, straight Elo obviously wasn't working well.
Having a 'hidden' rating is way WAY better than an easily-visible one, especially since the visible rating is high-variance and really doesn't mean anything in the short term.
People seriously complaining about them removing visible Elo need to re-evaluate how they look at the ranking system imo. The question now is going to be whether or not the new division/league system can be straightforward, easy-to-understand, *and* provide incentive to continue playing all at once. That's a tough buncha things to balance!
I wouldn't be surprised if the new system sucks for like ~6 months, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
EDIT: for example, if the idea of not being able to directly see your Elo is enough to, say, make you consider switching to another game entirely because apparently not displaying Elo prevents the game from being 'competitive' you should maybe take a step back and see if you actually value long-term improvement more than streaks of getting lucky and gaining like ~100 Elo in a weekend. Because if it's the latter I don't think you have a very healthy definition of 'competitive'.

Where are Olaf nerfs??
If Riven and Talon and Lee Sin are getting nerfed, why not the fucking FOTM in every tournament jungle/top lane? Same goes for Shen. Those two champions have zero exploitable weaknesses afaik.
And Riven already had a hard time with a lot of champions, including Olaf

Added Darius Bot to Co-op vs. AI on all maps. Fuck

WTF are they doing to Lee Sin. And how is Olaf not nerfed when he is so dominant atm.

Also adding Darius bot to co-op vs AI just made getting FWotD more difficult.

I am actually more surprised that MF got no nerfs yet and Amumu got (imo) a small nerf only.
