Health has always been better than resistances early on. Add to it that resistances have been nerfed, and health generally buffed in comparison, in s3. Add to that the penetration changes that actually increase the gap in cost-efficiency. As a finisher, look at warmogs' insane cost-efficient + slot-efficiency.

I don't think it's any better. It costs less and give more health right when you buy it. Also more regen at all stages. But it's also less health at max stacks which is where most pros spend their time anyways.

Armor and MR got nerfed which is another thing people will point out, but I think it's more just a realization that health was always a good stat to begin with.
Hotshot built it yesterday on Nidalee. I've never seen his max range spears hit for so little, but I felt like for the first time, that he contributed to big teamfights as Nid.

Someone on reddit did some math a few days back. His conclusion was that with all the penetration crap coming in, it is actually a good idea to build armor and mr to counter it. It's a common fallacy that you should stack health to counter pen.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Well my problem is I feel like there is more flat penetrations (liandry's/BC etc.) being built this season. Building resistances against FLAT penetrations SHOULD be the better option, right? Or am I thinking about this wrong?

If you build a lot of gold on defensive items (it helps that Warmog is so cost effective) then even if their assasins have penetration, as long as you survive their cooldowns you can help your team kill the squishy, all in assassins. Warmog doesn't give any ''useless'' stats like mana or cdr. I think that's one of the reasons.

Get Elise, Eve (and Karthus for good measure) out of the picture. Even if Katarina does true damage to you, she'll need a lot of AD/AP to bring her raw damage to the point where her full combo will do the 2500 HP needed to kill you. And she has resets.

Warmogs/sunfire rushes make my Viktor sad.

I really, really hope Riot doesn't nerf Kayle just because people don't know how to play against her yet and because she's really good in this ''meta'' (good vs bruisers and assassins)

I hope they do, because playing against invulnerabilities is dumb. Anyway, they just released a skin for her so they'll probably wait until it stops selling so well if they're going to nerf her.

it's funny seeing her go from amazing top laner, to shitty toplaner, to amazing midlaner.

Read this article on it earlier today. Overall it seemed a good read.

Items always have the greatest impact on the game the moment you get it. A stronger immediate item timing in exchange for a weaker long-run growth is still very likely to be a stronger overall item in the hands of a team that can exploit such timings.

It's actually in pub games where the stacking one is stronger because a solo queue team isn't likely to abuse your individual item timing well, and you're better off just being stronger in the long run.

Are you talking about this? I can't hear any sound

yes, the sound won't work if you use a timestamped link
but if you view the video from the start and just fast-forward to the game around 2 hours and 30 minutes, navi takes complete control of his team, he ACTUALLY wants to win instead of just dicking around, and his team and all of bischu's viewers just unload on him. it was sad and just shows me how few people really WANT it. everyone is so concerned about being casual and cool that they'd rather lose than improve or get passionate.
i've always really liked navi but that video gave me a new level of respect for him

Facts reaffirmed from watching that game:

-Navi is awesome
-Nintendude is a massive cockbag
-JRT is a fucking god

I don't really understand why everyone thought Navi was bad. He was getting amped, and he even said "it's been a while since I've made calls". His team did tell him to calm down a couple times, because he was getting slightly over the top, but at the end, Bischu and someone else (I think JRT?) said "I like it though". The chat was just being massive assholes for no reason, Navi was doing really well.

Navi was the shot caller. He needs to be loud and assertive to get what he wants done. You listen to the shot caller's direction without question, and you can worry about it all later if things go wrong.

Also note that FXO lost the subsequent 2 games where Navi quieted down.

My friend and I were talking and we just thought Navi sounded like us when we play, not all that out of the ordinary. People too used to Dyrus being a stone-faced boring butt.

However, "WE ARE BARON" is still a golden quote, now and forever.

I have to agree with a lot of the above. That Navi game was amazing. Getting that hyped is amazing. Also found it pretty cool that they seem to have a designated caller rather than everything doing their own thing(even though they do have small squabbles)

so funny how new skins completely change the way players (of any level) percieve the strength of a champion. i believe the same thing happened with ezreal as well.

only thing i disagree is "he was getting slightly over the top" - imo, no such thing. you ever see michael jordan's teammates tell him to tone it back? in any other sport, the harder you pump yourself up, the more that your teammates will follow. intensity feeds off itself. the only time it doesn't is when someone's too worried about their image, which just loops around to my earlier-stated points about NA scene

navi if you can't get your teammates pumped, join a team that has players that can match your passion IMO

Spirit Stone Golem upgrade is a weird case of having stats that you want and being a natural progression of what you already have, but still being lacking because it has absolutely no utility (i.e. no added damage, no slows, no aspd modifiers, etc.).

What you're saying is true but it's much more true for physically intensive as fuck games like basketball (every player is dead tired at the end of every game - trust me) moreso than for people clicking their mice

just like to say that navi's playcalling was very standard and at moments i thought he wasnt talking enough, the rest of his team acted like they were playing solo queue or had problems with authority. If in a 5s game and your playcaller isnt talking that much or making calls as quickly then you're not doing it right.
