Also. thresh + blitz lane looks like there would be a lot of trolling potential.

Not as good as you might think. Can't use lantern to pull people across the screen for example with Blitz hook.
In terms of raw cc power though, yeah dat shit cray.

Pull all the way back to tower, use towers to kill everyone.
Make it a Thresh, Blitz, Heimer tri-lane and bring the turrets with you.

This is exactly what I was referring to. I've tested this; you can't do it.

Also, amumu jungle + thresh seems op'd too... actually that lantern in general, with strong cc jungle just seems a bit too good.

The only thing I see is a real anti-Blitz lane. Thresh basically negates the pull with a lantern and the shield should save most ADs from being oneshot in the combo. It's still not exactly that good of a concept to have a support try to collect drops because it punishes roaming around to ward so incredibly hard. I ward the mid jungle exits from botlane whenever I have a ward left over which already costs me some XP but to lose all these stats in addition to that seems too much. The ult is horrible anyways, no question. He's awesome for disengaging but apart from that the best you can do is to position off the battlefield and throw lanterns to your ADC after pulling the first incoming wave of people off him. The question for me is how that is ever supposed to work when Olaf is the direct counterpick to the champ. As is every heavy harass lane like Cait or Sona comps. I prefer Leonda to do the exact same things but better to be honest.

Skarner/Blitz + Thresh combos were explicitly fixed on the PBE very quickly because it would have been utterly stupid (if funny).
What has been bugging me is that in the spotlight Vayne hits two walls and both affect her, despite what the tooltip on Thresh's ultimate says. It's clear from the updated lantern particle that this was recorded after they changed the functionality. My best guess is you simply can't hit two walls simultaneously, but if you're a derp and run into another wall you'll get hit again.
If they've goofed then you can actually nail someone with two wall with relatively ease. One of the points of the pentagon is always directly behind Thresh, so if you face directly away from your opponent you can drop the point right on top of them. With its high base damage and AP scaling, you can really ruin a squishy's day (but again, only if Riot's goofed).

So frommaplestreet is on gtrsrs's team? This team isn't on/affiliated with TL in any way right?

Yes, frommaplestreet is on DnG. There is no LoL team affiliated to TL.

Thresh's lantern still seems practical for squishier champs that have initiating power and can then be pulled back to safety--Thresh+Annie being the most immediately apparent one.

I don't know, if you Q an enemy, you can pull you and him together, drop the box to fuck him over, then run through the back side of the box towards your team. You should survive b/c the enemy team can't chase you through the other side of the box, potentially gib an enemy or force him out of the fight.
His lantern is a free fucking locket too, and we know how broken that is already.

Or it could be combo's that have thresh assist the initiation seeing as supports can generally build tanky enough to survive initial burst, they're generally tankier than the mid/ADC past about 15 minutes.
have Thresh Q in, drop a lantern behind and drag a Galio/Kennen/morg(flash optional) into the middle of the enemy team.

Really keen to see Thresh used in high-level organised play; most of my PBE experiences were of allies ignoring the lantern, heh. Do T.R.O.L.L.S. have a PBE wing?

How to counter Olaf with Thresh:- Throw Lantern in the direction your carry is running.
- Run in a different, safer direction.
- Carry clicks the Lantern.
- Sad viking.
Things you can do to mitigate souls lost while roaming:- Place dragon/tribrush wards between waves.
- (Purple) Swing by Wolves/Blue as they're cleared on your way to lane to pick up souls.
- (Blue) Swing by Golems/Red as they're cleared on your way to lane to pick up souls.
- Ward jungle entrances when nearby camps are about to be cleared by an ally.
I don't really understand why you think the "best" you described disparagingly isn't all that good. The ability to deflect a wave of opponents, followed by creating distance for your carry, seems like the sort of thing which should make support players cackle in mad delight.

Speaking of Thresh, what ADs do you guys think will be strong with him?
Seems like Vayne would work well to position for wall stun. He also has great peels for someone like Ashe or MF(box+MF ult, ouch).

Koggles is a great candidate too. Being able to reposition is huuuuge for him. Hypercarry4lyfe.

Well yea
I just dont see how a support (who is RANGED if we dont forget) can possibly be tanky enough to get good use from it in a typical game.
