Been playing a bit of Xerath and I think I might buy him once the free week is over. Does anyone know why he doesn't get picked at all? He seems like a really good champion with his passive armour giving him some nice defense, a long range stun when you get the combo right and also a long range splash nuke. And his Q can clear entire waves later into the game.
I build Athenes, Defensive boots, Void Staff, Rabadons mid and no-one seems quite sure what to do with him. He does have a weak pre-lvl3 since you don't get stun for a while, but after that it is reasonably easy to grab a decent amount of kills. End game you can just long range siege or harass all day, and they can't do anything about it without diving you in the midst of your team.

Unless you bought Scorched Earth Xerath, his animations are kinda underwhelming. Also, while very strong (and frightening) with his ult up, once it's down he doesn't really do much. He lacks mobility outside of his short W speed boost too.

Xerath mainly doesn't get played much because he's boring.
He's really good though.

The fact his W locks him in place doesn't help either, to reach his maximum DPS he can't be moving which is sometimes a liability. The prevalence of mobility in competitive play only compounds the issue. But yeah, other than that he's pretty strong, good poke and damage.

Hey just a general question to toss out there, maybe someone can give me some advice. I started a ranked team with my friends (all around 1400-1700) and they want me to switch my main role to mid instead of top. I know how to play a few champs mid (Ryze, lux, gragas) but nothing near the way I can play top. My biggest trouble is last hitting at the start of the game with such weak dmg.
My question is are attack dmg runes instead of AP ones viable mid or do i need to just learn how to last hit better with AP runes
EDIT: I understand that by starting attack dmg runes i will need to be more aggressive with auto attacks.

Learn to hit better.
Use +AD masteries instead of +AP for mid.
Edit: in the Offensive (left most) tree

I can only think of Anivia and Swain as ones you might want to run AD on.

Awesome, alright thanks guys. Just thought I would run it by the knowledge gods that is TL forum :D
PLUS: anyone else just really fucking stoked for IPL. I have always been an SC2 follower but recently I don't even watch SC2 turny's anymore, only LoL ones!

Just to echo what Neo said: +4 AP basically does next to nothing. (e.g. A spell with 0.7 AP ratio is now doing 2.8 more damage. Whoop de doo. But getting Butchery gives +4 to last hitting minions which can help a lot when cs-ing under tower for many champs who are just barely unable to kill a ranged minion with 1 auto after the tower has hit it.)

After failing teamfights they don't completely melt but there's blame tossed around. People just love drama and CLG's an easy target. Look at CRS, both NA and EU as well. One team argues and changes players, the other apparently doesn't practice. The list goes on. I'm a big Crs.na fan. Lately the team has been a lot more humble and admitting to misplays and just synching together really well. Voyboy was doing pretty bad on CLG but man he is on fire lately. SV and Jacky are on a tear and Rhux has improved their bot lane a lot. They're getting along and doing better than ever. Fun to see as a huge fan of the team.

You can run the 3 AD in the first level of the offense masteries, but I wouldn't do AD runes.
Just practice. Last hitting is just a practice thing, give it a few games and you'll get good at it.

Yeah, the only champ I can think of that you'd get the first tier ap mastery on is Karthus because of his unique way of last hitting and awful autoattack.

Surprisingly, I have a lot more faith in Crs.na than Crs.eu in light of recent news/etc. Too bad they have such a terror group. @_@

I'd maybe run them on swain, since torment + autoattack is alot of your harass in lane. and ap runes dont really do a whole bunch outside of early game anyways.

Voyboy's playstyle synergises a lot better with Crs.na than CLG.na. It's a remarkable difference even though I wouldn't say his skill level has changed drastically over the last few months.
Picking up Rhux and ditching Ele was the right move, just as it was the right move to ditch Ele on CLG. While Ele has gotten better, he's still not quite good enough. Rhux has been making plays and offers such a stronger presence bot lane. I like his Lulu play too.

Crs.na seems like they really trying hard to change and become better. Don't know if that's just my own mind creating an image I want but it just feels that way to me. Voyboy I thought was overrated/bad compared to top laners while on CLG but seems to be playing real well lately. Weakest person on team I feel is SV at times but he seems to bring something else.

Even next season, I'm still going to be taking AD masteries. You get the same amount of AD for 2 points, and IMO spellsword is better than 1.5 AP unless you're not going to be autoing at all when trading. By 50AP(still early game), trading an auto and 2 spells, spellsword already pretty much breaks even. If you auto more than once spellsword far, far outstrips AP masteries for most champs.
