That post is me thinking that ELO hell is real after starting ranked. That was the placement matches, after that I didn't lose before 1000 and didn't lose much before like 1400. It wasn't that hard to be honest, it's just annoying at times. I'm in gold right now at 1520 or something and to be honest I don't think I deserve higher.

It shouldn't be called "Elo Hell" though. "Improvement Hell" is probably more accurate.

I was stuck at 900 elo for around 300 ranked games before I went on like a 30 game winning streak and go to 1250 around which I've fluctuated. Most people would use this as anecdotal evidence for "elo hell" but I went back and looked at some replays, and that 900 elo player me was so awful I wouldn't be surprised if I fell to 400 and didn't get out. Enemy team doing dragon? NP split push top lane past first tower try to get 2nd be get stopped by creep waves and then just end up dieing. Enemy lane 3-0? NP just keep attacking him anyways trying to all-in.

Its just that 1000-1300 (and after watching some 1700 games... oh man) players are all terrible when you look at them, but you don't realize how terrible you are when you look at yourself. Math and statistics means that if you're consistently outperforming your teammates, you will win 55% of your games on average until you are no longer consistently outperforming your teammates. If you have 200 games and you're still at the elo you started, it means you are not consistently better than your teammates. Maybe in certain matchups with certain champions are are miles ahead but you are probably also doing other things wrong. I (1250) played a normal today and thanks to mass TL premades everyone else was 1500ish. Our top laner fed super hard, and eventually Rengar came out of nowhere and 1shot me as I was warding. I was kind of mad like "wtf how does rengar do that much damage you suck top" but then he replied with "why are you warding an exposed position when 5 of them are mia?" He was probably having a bad game, whereas I never thought about his reply and thus would explain why I on aggregate I end up losing games I could've won and why I'm at my elo and he's at his. No, I agree. I said a few posts back that I believe it'll eventually even out up or down over time, and that it's frustrating because the interim is an unenjoyable experience where victory and losses are often completely out of your hands for one reason or another. I was simply addressing the time-honored tradition of telling people "If you really are better than the people at your ELO, just carry every game". The most frustrating games are the ones where you can tell you are obviously outperforming the other players (I'm 4-0 with big farm and have roamed to help other lanes, for example), but your skills are not high enough to overcome the 5-23 kill lead that the enemy team has. Do I belong in the 1300 range? Probably, give or take 100 ELO depending on how I'm playing that day. Like I said, I'm under no assumptions that I'm a 2k player in disguise. I respond slowly to ganks at times, I mess up CS quite a bit, and I often overcommit to chases instead of just taking a victory and objective. I'm not a great player, and I realize that, but that doesn't mean I can't compare myself to people obviously playing worse.

Long story short, I really want to try and place in the ~1700 range for S3, but I have no idea what to improve, my games are consistently 100ish cs by 10mins, and always 4 to 1 KD, and after 40more wins then losses (310 / 270) I fear that the 1500 range is where I'm supposed to be, but the people are so bad, mid laners afk farming, not contesting dragon, junglers diving and donating double buffs early, top laners 80cs behind their opponents etc etc... How do I know I'm not just imagining that I'm good enough for 1700?

Although, sometimes playing with 500 elo friends in blind normal is pretty fun. Its kind of sad that you know people who are actually so incapable of self-improvement and introspection that they are stuck there, but then playing AP mundo is pretty fun so w/e

Yea I noticed that it's always the same people trying to make every argument they can to prove some form of elo hell exists and take every small opportunity to do so.It's really getting annoying,I don't care about your elo or the imaginary hell hole you're mind put you in and don't want to read about it every other week. It's completely irrelevant if elo hell exists or not and every discussion I have seen around people advocating it's existence belonged in the QQ thread.

I found it's pretty easy to lane her efficiently, so I doubt you'd have problems. For her awkward teamfights, I now just DFG->ult chunk their initiator and then use E hoping for stuns and then just spam Q and W. Not a very effective way of doing it, but I don't know any better.

My friends consist of "well of course I leave Frost Arrows on all the time, why wouldn't I?" Ashe, "I carried once as Irelia in a bot game, that means I can towerdive at level 1, right?" Irelia, and "I'm playing from work, so if I DC it's because my boss walked in. Also I have 500 ping." Anivia. Super duper fun for normals where we just run around and derp, I'd shoot myself if I had to ranked with them ![]()

I hate the new portrait changes. Being lasered to the face is bad enough, but having that smug crazy face tacked onto the killfeed is just...annoying.

In LoL, there are a greater number of factors to consider when you get camped by Lee Sin top off a red start when you're blue side and go down 10-15 cs. What do I do to minimize disadvantage in lane and stay competitive through the laning phase, and to what extent do I just have to accept some cs/exp losses and move on? Should I be calling my jungler up, or be vocal and call a play for the team to steal their blue for our mid or our ezreal bot that can poke the crap out of their graves after? Obviously these are situational answers, hard to generalize, because you're dealing with a number of factors beyond you and your lane opponent. If you get stomped in a 1v1 lane without consequential jungler intervention that isn't like anivia v fizz or tryndamere v teemo, it's easy enough to spot mistakes in itemization or mechanics. Gut beyond this, and ESPECIALLY after lane phase when it comes time to choose objective priority or teamfight approach, it's pretty darn difficult.
