Despite being weary from the climb, it felt great to achieve something. Then my reverie was interrupted by an overweight man in a Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts, and flip flops because he wanted to take a picture of his high heel-sporting, mini skirt-wearing wife next to the sign. I live around that area and hike it a few times every year and god do it hate those people. its a great hike but sucks that you get to the top and there are like 200 people up there only like 60 of who hiked it.

However, when it comes to discussions like we have, I find it's better to actually weigh what's being said and look at math/analytic examples rather than just blindly accept what someone says as true because they're Gold/Plat/Diamond/insert ELO number here. It's likely that I'll listen as much to an unranked individual as a 2k player if he brings up compelling arguments and acceptable theorycrafting. (And that's actual compelling arguments, not "I won 10 games with TF/PD/PD Hec lol") funny what you say because my younger brother who plays less and around 150 points below me quite often comes up with stuff like 'hey this champ on that lane is really strong imo'. Most of the time I would not really dig into it but then some weeks later we have the new fotm and he was right. This happened with nunu support for example. really the arguments behind something have to be looked at. In the other hand there are alot of discussions where experience matters. High elo players are not magicians, they just do less mistakes, hit stuff a bit better and predict outcomes more precicely. In the other hand it is very uncommon that something new happens at that bracket. innovations have a hard time to bubble up there because people just do not trust it in the sense of 'don't touch a running system', while the lower the bracket the more random things are. Innovations are really important though. A player who does the new good stuff first is likely to be extremely successfull with it. I guess what I'am trying to say is that I agree with you that high elo is not an excuse for bad arguments or advice. But one should allways be aware of how much different games are every 300ish points.

I'd know who the good posters were on this board even if they all decided to tank to 1k elo on purpose. It's just a number, yo.

I think he was referring more to the post which basically said gator sucked and stuff. Not your post. That said, I'm obviously of the opinion that the ability of players to game the system diminishes the accomplishment of players who legitimately earn their rankings, or else I wouldn't have written a half-dozen paragraphs on the subject and rambled about Mt. Washington.

I can do a ~6 minute mile if I really bust my ass, but I'm completely dead afterwards. The fact that other people can do with less training just because of genes or whatever doesn't bother me, the fact that I myself can do it is reward enough. So when I finally got back to Bronze before the reset and then lost to a 1400 player who did AP Yi and acted like a moron the whole game, I wasn't really offended that his ELO was higher and he was carried by his team, I was just pissed at myself that I lost a game. Different viewpoints, I guess.

Different viewpoints, I guess. Perhaps, but in some ways we're standing at the same vista but I'm looking east while you're looking west. Both your anecdotes feature people who, while being naturally advantaged or stupid jerks, still reached those places on their own merits. The problem I'm pointing out is akin people who start marathons, take a taxi to the end, and pretend they actually ran 26 miles in under four hours.

Obviously, it's an opportunity for me to learn, but still, if I want to hit 1500 by myself it's a bit like climbing that Mt. Washington with hikers higher up throwing pebbles at you, if I may.

With Skarner being so popular, why aren't people building QSS to counter him, and why doesn't this gimp Skarner as much as Malz? You do build QSS to counter Skarnar. In mid I usually get a negatron early and eventually build it into QSS if I am against a Skarnar. Although sometimes I get it too early and my teammates blame me for having no AP ![]()
