I also tried a few games in Dominion just to get an idea what his 1v1 strength feels like against similarly rich champs, and I was really not particularly impressed. His ganks are pretty cool, and I've had fun in the jungle with him, though even there he seems to fall off really hard. Late-game team fights I almost never seem to survive if I don't run away immediately after landing one Q (which isn't exactly bringing much to a fight). Obligatory i'm playing in about 1400 elo so i'm not particularly good disclaimer. My Volibear may not work at higher levels (though Volibear is awesome so i hope he does). Now with that out of the way: I made a post in the Volibear thread about a month or so ago explaining my playstyle and the rest of that thread is also very useful. I'll repeat some of that here though. Basically his early game trading is really really strong. When the enemy goes to last hit, Voli can flip them into the middle of his minions. Either they have to fight him there in which case they will likely lose the trade due to taking more minion damage than Voli or they run back taking free autos. Obnoxious champions such as Riven or Renekton also can't do their usual 'combo you then troll out before you can retaliate' because if they try Voli flips them, slows them with E and get his W off. Now turning more directly to what your concerns were. It's true his skills don't really scale well, his best spell W scales not with AD but health. This is why Voli is an early game hero. However he remains useful into mid-late game because of his high base damages you can build full tank and still output respectable damage. His ult is easy to underrate but it's really really strong, allowing you to output really strong AOE damage in teamfights (hence why Wit's End is core, so you can abuse his ult even more). As for laning against Teemo, i have played it a couple of times and well it's Teemo and he's annoying. But until he gets phage he has no real way from stopping you from flipping him, your Q speed exceeds his move quick. Sure his blind stops your auto's from damaging you but i am pretty sure (i could be wrong) it doesn't stop you stacking your W and so you will still get your damage off. In short ideally you can abuse him levels 3-6 and after that it will be really hard to push you out of lane once you start building defensive items. I've never played against Jayce so i can't really comment on that. As for jungling him i used to play him that way but i ran into the same problems you did, and eventually got him working top lane. | ||

I never get E on sona until I feel like I need it to slow someone in a teamfight, but usually if you need to slow someone you're already winning so it's no big deal. In laning phase E is almost useless (it's useful for power chords but that's it), and by having level 1 E and level 1 W your mana efficiency is pretty awful if you ever use E to power chord and W to heal meaning you need tons of mana regen and you can't afford to get philo stone on sona (even if that was enough) as first item. Sona needs really fast ruby crystal and then boots because sonas weakness is getting jumped/bursted/ganked when you're trying to harass and generally once you get some HP that's when you really start to win against kill lanes if they aren't already ahead. From what I read here everyone loves their 1 point in e on sona but I haven't been convinced at all and in solo queue I never notice sona E's been using in laning phase pretty much ever. I guess they help support ganks but hell you mightn't need ganks on sona lanes if you increase your mana efficiency she is one of the strongest supports in lane and if you can't engage the sona/carry combo you basically are going to be behind in some fashion. When I play sona in solo queue I might get raged at for a lot of things whether it's actually my fault or not (ad carries tend to BITCH at supports because if they don't they get blamed for losing their lane and often the support isn't playing great as well) but I've never once got "wtf sona why didn't you have E?" If I get level 5 sona with 3 W and 2 Q, and you have 3 Q 1 W 1 E I have almost double the mana efficency of my heal as well as 12 more mr/armour when my W's up. (heal used recently which it should be when you're taking damage)/ I also rarely use sonas W power chord. How many times does the target do 5x the damage that your power chord would do in that time? Only things like irelia jumping someone, nunu ulting etc justify it and most of the time you use your power chord for poking and bursting as opposed to peeling. | ||

A farmed nunu isn't going to carry by diving into the enemy team and killing everybody. He's simply going to make his AD carry monstrous with BB while severely hindering the enemy bruisers/AD carry from doing damage. Not only that, but with minimal AP, Nunu can still easily threaten to do 2k+ damage to the entire enemy team unless they blow ccs on him. | ||

I am not really a mid player, or a good player at all, but i find orianna to be really fun. She is safe-ish, but comparatively easy to gank because she has no escape, and not a lot of CC, either. I don't think she has any horribly bad lanes, though. She scales ok into midgame, but tends to slowly fall off towards lategame. Her combo is always dangerous to squishies, and her CC/shielding always stays useful. She can roam, but the lack of a gapcloser limits the effectiveless of that, too. I think where she most shines are midgame teamfights at objectives. | ||
