Zyra looks pretty sweet, looks like a great buy for me. Here's a good showing of what her spells can do.
Things I noticed: Her W's cooldown is 17>13 so you will not want to be wasting those seeds even though you will only have 4 seconds of no seeds ready to strike since they last 30s. Leveling her Q and E not only increases the spell damage but also increase the plant attack damage. Plant attack damage also scales with AP.

That's really not true at all.. as long as you're open to having an intelligent discussion and backing up your opinions with facts or experience, you'll never have a problem. I suck at this game and I still chip in when I think I it's relevant to the discussion and i've never had any problems

I think you're imagining things.
I'm at the same level you are and I post all the time. People never really get ridiculed, worst comes to worst a way better players tells you insight that even if you don't agree with you usually end up gaining something from it in my experience.

My way of seeing things is that once you're on the "idiot list" you're hardly judge fairly afterwards

This is the case sometimes. It's usually avoided by being open and humble on the receiving end but I think we'd all be lying to ourselves if we didn't think we could word things in a less confrontational way from time to time.

I probably couldn't find one in this thread now that you asked but that's just the way I perceive things. I know I for one am rather intimidated to post for fear of ridicule but that's why I asked if anyone else felt that way.

the people who typically receive the ire of the 'TL LoL gods', as you put it, are almost always the ones who belligerently try to defend themselves and essentially treat all criticisms as personal attacks and then try to become martyrs. I for one, find the discussion on this board to be very thought provoking sometimes, and just a generally cool place to hang out. I think the people that I described are pretty far and few between *cough* jazriel *cough*.

I think he may have been referencing the PrinceXizor incident.

completely agree dude. 'tl lol god' is a really perfect way to put it. like i mentioned a few pages back, LoL is an extremely complex game with many variables, and thinking that there is only one way to do anything is almost always a close-minded and arrogant approach.
On July 14 2012 05:13 SoulSever wrote: I'm saying the manner in which all the veteran posters challenge things is very deterring to people who seldom post
Isn't that kind of the point of this forum though? There's a reason that the posters that people listen to the most are the posters that people listen to the most. They've got history here, and their opinions are respected because of that. I don't think it would be fair to them if their posts are the equivalent of every brand new poster that posts.
I guess it comes down to credibility. I could very easily say that I'm actually 2200 and people should listen to me but the account you guys see when you look for my ELO is actually a smurf because I lost my main and I don't play much because I'm busy with IRL stuff, but that doesn't make whatever I post actually credible.
As long as you can actually defend what you're saying with not anecdotal evidence, I see no reason for posts to be ridiculed and challenged more harshly than any other poster.
Edit: I don't post often, but that's not because I'm afraid my posts are going to get torn to pieces. I feel like I get plenty just from reading the discussion.

i agree that people should be less harsh on people for offering opinions that are against what a veteran has to offer. obviously their attitude will determine the harshness of the response, but i find the harshness / group shoutdown to be overkill for what is comparatively tame belligerence. ofc if someone flames or talks down to you you will be more likely to respond in kind. there's no reason to start that kind of angst. we're all just pplz who like to play a game and talk about it.
It's probably pretty frightening to post when you know that TheYango or I will go over your thoughts/math/experiences with a fine tooth comb, or some 2k+ player will tersely tell you that you don't know what you're talking about. It doesn't help that we've had a few very recent, public cases of posters becoming defensive after being told they were wrong about something.
Ultimately, however, I think the subform is well policed both by the moderators and ourselves. While we can always be more civil, I don't think we should stifle discussion when it's the very depth of it which attracted us here in the first place.

Why am I on that list . I never say anything in this thread that ridicules someone (except for Xizor but he deserved it.) I just say something random about the meta and go back to videogaming. Cmon buddy don't be scared of me. In fact, I'll be there by your side when you post your thoughts. You're amongst friends.

It's still in, and it's kind of insane from what I hear. You do AoE damage based on % health and get shield (I think 300 at max rank) per person hit, so 1500 health shield at max rank if you hit all 5.
New Eve Ult in testing was hilar imba. It should be toned down a bit, but you'll find it very "ultimate feeling". Interesting counterplay involved with her now as well. Can work top and jungle, although jungle is a more obvious role.
For those worrying about new Xin, he's possibly the scariest of the newest remakes. Was tested multiple times, and with 2k+ Elo input too. Initially wrecked face a lot. Should not be a one-man army any more. Hopefully.
Re PBE: Accounts are free, you start off with 50k IP and RP. Get an additional amount of IP and RP each fortnight. Think I still have my initial PBE Account which should have a million IP and RP each. You don't get rune, rune pages or champions unlocked initially, but you should have enough free IP/RP to just buy and test whatever you feel like.
If I may ask, what is so strong about Xin now? Aside from the knockback (which is really nice, don't get me wrong) and the arpen passive (also nice), it doesn't look like his kit has changed a whole lot. Old passive moved to W, no baseline AS steroid, CDR moved to Q. Am I missing something that buffed him so much?
Cooldowns. New Q has a 9-5s cooldown, versus 10 flat on old Q. New W has a 16-11s second cooldown, versus 24-16s. New E has a 13-9s cooldown, versus 16-12s. Basically they took all the cooldown reduction Xin got from attacking super fast and baked it into his abilities.
This is a fundamentally good change because it means Xin no longer has to worry about both CDR and attack speed, but can focus on the former. It also makes it a lot easier for Riot to balance because they don't have to worry about Xin Zhao being unable to afford the attack speed to abuse the crap out of people.
That said, I am having the most hellish time trying to break my old E->Q->W instinct.
Ah, I see. So basically it gives less incentive to build CDR and lets you build other stuff, as well as just having it up more often. Cool cool, will be nice to see him in games again.
I don't think there's anything to fear - you just have to word things carefully if you're a newer player trying to make an argument (give good reasoning for your ideas and acknowledge the possibility that you could be wrong and that people might correct you). Generally, I've avoided hostility by just realizing that I'm a worse player than other posters and could easily be wrong (e.g. when I didn't think RoA was a particularly good choice on Swain, I phrased it something like "these other items seem like more logical choices than RoA on Swain. am i correct, or is there something i'm missing that makes RoA better?")
On the flip side, though, I also think it's really important for "elite" posters to give solid reasoning when they shut someone down. I remember lurking a thread a long long time ago (unfortunately can't remember which one), where there was one person with a crazy idea and a bunch of other people telling him that it was terrible and not worthy of a response. As a newer player just looking for advice, reading that thread was really troubling because I had no way of knowing who was right -- in fact, the troll had supported his ideas, while the smarter posters were mainly just calling him a troll. I don't necessarily expect every troll suggestion to get a lengthy response when it doesn't really warrant discussion, but I think it's helpful to explain the reasoning for why its bad -- not for the troll (who generally will never accept being wrong), but for other people that want to actually learn something.

Wait wat.
Why am I on there, I don't know shit about this game and am 1200. If I ever tell anyone they don't know what they're talking about and act high and mighty about anything, feel free to call me out on it and tell me I'm a bitch. That is, until I hit gold huehuehue
