Hog is really nice on junglers because it gives you a little gold, makes you tankier lets you tank turrets etc and builds into randuins. Now that it only gives 200hp it's not worht paying the 325g or w/e it is for a 20hp increase.
This isnt Broodwar so I dont owe anyone respect for beating me. -arb

I think I'll just get a phage or aegis earlier depending on the involved jungler now. Or if it was a double gp5 case I'll just grab kindlegem and either tanky items or a really fast shurelya (since philo's mp5 is nerfed, earlier shurelya also gives you comparatively more mp5 than before).
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

I have a question; do most top laners take AD reds or Apen reds? I thought they used AD, but Apen is way stronger vs enemy champions, right?

i got it sometimes too but not every game, and only when i was ahead
skipping it as a non-essential item will get you that phage/aegis/wit's/warmog's a lot faster and make your transition more smooth than someone who really "needed" hog like amumu/mundo/skarner

People have said it time and time again, but the gp10 component is much smaller than you'd believe it is. I always sat in the camp of "durp, passive income? I think gp10 items in League should be treated the same. It is stupid to get them when behind. It is stupid to get them ahead if there are other ways to benefit from your advantage with a greater gain. A single dragon kill equals 6.3 minutes of holding on to a gp10 item. NOT counting the gold for the rest of your team. How often does it spawn again..?

The first creepwave on the map equals around 4 minutes of a gp10 item and those creeps get more valuable the longer the game goes on.


tl;dr: gp10 items are "worth it" if you a) have an advantage, b) are unable to translate that advantage into dragons/towers/kills and c) are absolutely unable to kill more than about 1.5 creeps per minute.


PS: Yes, it's kinda this time of the month again, but considering how much a dragon/tower/creep is really worth compared to gp10 items kind of blew my mind.


I don't see how your post about Dragon supports your premise. Dragon is valuable. Each GP10 item is the equivalent of killing dragon 20s after it spawns over and over and over again. I get that Dragon is a "free" advantage and GP10 costs, but it's weird to say that a GP10 is "only" worth the same as Dragon when Dragon is considered a major objective on the map. I guess I don't mean to start this discussion over again, but I don't understand that point that you make.


If NOT buying gp10 gives your team a clear dragon advantage (shurelyas e.g.) then it's way stronger since it represents 5gp10 items distributed around your team instead of a single one on yourself. Sure, gp10 makes sense when you don't think that it's likely that extra items will give you a clear advantage but aiming to ignore that possible advantage does not make sense from a strategical perspective.

AD and APen are about the same for autoattacks vs champs, but when it comes to abilities you pretty much have to calculate it from champ to champ.
I'd say AD is the safe choice though, since it definitely helps through better lasthitting control.

The tooltip is simply an explanation, I think that was there before.

The 4% passive per point is new, and awesome.

Also, previously, she could only store and have 2 seeds. Now she can store 2 and have 4 on the field. It offers way more flexibility and adaptation, something that previously felt very clunky on her. The 25% reduced damaged per plant is new too, but totally makes sense with 4 potential plants.

I never thought HoG was "necessary" on Skarner, I'd often skip it for Kindlegem (fast Shurelya at 6 is instagibs), Phage if I was getting fed enough for TF, or just Aegis. If anything, he'll be about the same.

I don't play Mundo enough to talk about him, but won't Amumu often just make his Ruby into Cata and skip HoG altogether?

On Mundo I guess you could get a kindlegem, and turn it into an early SV if needed, or a later zeke?
Since Mundo likes Randuin's anyway, it wouldn't be a "loss" to still build it. Kindlegem/Aegis still superior since you build them way earlier than randuin's tho.

Also level 5 W is 20% cdr on Zyra? Gravity Viktor and Ryze are sad.

It's not about it being a loss building it because you need it, you're paying 350g for a 20hp upgrade and some gp10. That's just not worth it.

You could have four on the field before anyway, If anything they're now imposing a limit on how many seeds you can have on the field, since it's theoretically possible to hit 5 with enough CDR.

If you have 2 seeds stored, you put 2 down at 0,
get 1 at 10.2s and put it down,
get 1 at 20.4s and put it down,
at 30s the first 2 disappear so you can't have 5.

Or does the 17s cd go down with W levels too, for replenishing stored seeds?

Philo stone is a great item regardless of the gp10. It's a cost efficient regen item that's super good early but pays for itself later. Gief. You can say "oh you lose dragon control" but you gain extra gold from csing + xp from having to back less so you get stronger that way.

Hog is the only item that is like "oh don't buy this because you lose dragon control" but most people who auto buy this are junglers who are underfarmed enough as it is and supports which it's debateable on.
