my guess is that his ulti isn't strong enough to warrant a nerf? i think he's pretty balanced, if anything then he's a bit underpowered

I mean, Ashe and Ezzy didn't get hit either.

They didn't nerf every global, just the ones that they thought were too prevalent in high-level play. Which is why it's strange that they didn't hit TF--sure he's not a true global, but he's pretty much perma-ban in China/SEA play competitive play, and still a common ban on NA solo queue. He's way more relevant than Soraka or Karthus as far as needing nerfs.

TF is very strong in soloq, but soloq, like diamond/masters and less in sc2, isn't what this game should be balanced about

Again, he's pretty much perma-ban in China/SEA tournament play, not just solo queue.

M5 runs TF a lot don't they? Or at least, I've seen M5 run him before. The only NA team that runs aggressive early game strategies is TSM and I dunno why they don't run TF. I know from what I've seen that the Chinese and SEA teams tend to play aggressive while a lot of NA/EU teams prefer to play passive late game comps (with the notable exceptions of like M5/TSM). TF's late game is strong but his lane phase plus mid game is phenomenal so that could be part of the reason he's less popular in NA/EU competitive play. There are simply better APs for late game so it fits better with the late game strats that most NA/EU teams tend to run.

So instead of nerfing a champ that's both ridiculously strong in solo queue and perma-ban in China/SEA, you nerf 2 champs that aren't complained about in any setting?

The nerfs were directed at global-based teamcomps. While I understand the nerf to Shen, I'd consider TF a far more dangerous pick in a global-based teamcomp than either Soraka or Karthus.

I do think that shen is a bit too strong at the moment and I can't really comment about Karthus. From my humble 2000 elo soloq experience, I think that karthus is overpowered, but then again, that's just soloq. This nerf definitely doesn't kill his viability

No way.

TF is way stronger in premade when you can have coordinated 3 man+ invades/ganks and coordinated split pushing lategame.

TF is a champ that can make plays and dictate the tempo of the game and these types of champs are stronger in premade than solo Q.

From what I've seen, TF is underappreciated in NA because, well, I haven't seen any good TFs actually - even the pro AP mids are poor at utilising TF's strengths.

Reginald and jiji both used to play tons of TF. But honestly TF really doesn't fit with how CLG plays. I have zero clue why TSM doesn't run him, Regi used to be almost as good as jiji at TF. As for other teams, I would mostly agree just because I've never seen any other NA AP mids play TF aside from jiji/Regi.

I'm not trying to attack you. My point is that the ostensible logic of Riot's attempt to nerf global-based teamcomps isn't consistent when they decided to nerf two champions that are much less dangerous than TF in global-based teamcomps while leaving him alone. You seem to believe otherwise, but you haven't really made a good case for that.

Once TF hits level 6, anytime a good team doesn't see him on the map, they will go back. At this point, you usually can't dive a full hp person with 2 people, and taking 3 people to go top gets the other team free dragon or free mid tower.
Another way to shut TF down is to put 2-3 wards at mid to see him whenever he goes to gank, remember, he has to get in the river or the jungle to reach top/bot

I really wish they'd just make Shen's ult non-global already and give him whatever ratios they need to justify it.
As for the rest of the pathc preview...decent changes all around I geuss...LB changes are...interesting. I thought they were going to give her clone the ability to do damage or something since it can only autoattack anyway (and only shows up when she's almost dead anyway). I fell like that might've been nice.
Nunu buffs...fuck that. Insane fucking counterjungling translates to him being unstoppable in lane now. Can't stand non-support Nunu in any role, now I have to deal with him again.

No word on Xerath makes me a sad panda....fuck what they did to him just so the new skin would 'look' cooler.

IMO the main problem with Jiji's TF is that he's not proactive enough with his ultimate. He's too used to the old TF where you could be mid the whole time, and then just watch the other lanes, and then ult over the moment something happens or the opponent misplays. After the range nerf, you have to really look to go and make plays.

Chinese APs like Misaya and Wh1t3zz are much more decisive about this from what I've seen. They'll be positioning 10-15 seconds before the ult is off CD, and just go the moment the CD finishes.
