Yet he still was one of the best players in the world when he played for TSM. Constant high ping isnt a problem if you are used to it. But what could he have done with 40- ping? Anecdotal, but I noticed the jump from 110 to 50 ping (new router). I didn't instantly have mad last-hitting skills and lightning reflexes, but I was considerably less "clumsy". Sure, it's definitely doable to last hit and position well at high pings, which is basically enough for the majority of matches (especially with a good strategic base). But there's so much more you can do with lower ping. Dyrus' solo queue also markedly improved when he went from Hawaii to New York.

It can basically be summed up from a Chauster quote at the time (Chau was casting a game): "I want to see Loco play kog here just to see if he can play a champion without an escape."

Eh, I stream anyway. Personally I find watching it when you play with her more amusing, since you talk more and don't obsess about missing the previous last hit as much. ![]()

stacking resists and heals on a team is not new to LoL.( think back to innervating locket OP days ) dignitas recently revived interest in it somewhat with their comp. how it works: EHP is a function of HP and resists. increasing HP OR resists increases EHP linearly. doing both makes the increase exponential. (analogy: think of a piece of string (limited resources to spend on HP or resists). to form a quadrilateral with the largest area (EHP), you would balance the length and width of said quadrilateral, essentially forming a square (balancing HP and resists). however, the balancing of HP and resists isnt the purpose of this piece. the main idea is that the higher your resists are, the better each point of healing / shielding becomes, thus we begin the STACKING the current best ways to stack resists (all values taken at level 5 of skill): auras: aegis of the legion (+12 armor, +15 mr) soraka's passive consecration (+ 16 mr) taric's shatter aura (+30 armor) sona's aria of perseverance (+15 armor and mr) temporary AoE buffs: jarvan's demacian standard (+22 armor) the resist auras (and in particular, soraka as a champion) are the backbone of any sort of heal comp, since they are rather unique and the only way to really stack resists to an ungodly amount on the whole team. we'll get to why soraka is so important later. best AoE shields/heals: soraka's wish 200/320/440 heal locket of the iron solari (50+10 per lvl) summoner heal (120+25xlvl )* 1.1 i would list more but these are in general the more noteworthy/accessible ones. note how soraka is once again right there on the list. there is a third component to the equation - damage reduction. reducing opponents' dmg = increasing team survivability duh notable ones: frozen heart - at least 1 needed per team randuin's omen maokai's vengeful maelstrom (-20% damage) aspd reduction effects apply last in the attack speed equation, meaning a frozen heart effectively cuts 20% of white DPS done by all autoattackers. (exception: randuin's / warden passive apparently) the numbers game: i love the idea that games can be won by numbers. think theorycrafting the highest possible DPS for WoW, mashing auras for DotA (janggo, meka, basi if you don't have all 3 you are noob). the heal comp for LoL works on the same principle. if you pick 5 heroes that synergize beyond the sum of their parts, mix in the right items and think of teamfights as your numbers clashing against the opponents', the heal comp is really dominating in a lot of ways. how to think of numbers: think of soraka's astral blessing. it heals 350 and gives 125 bonus armor for 5 seconds on a 20 second cooldown. when you cap out CDR (maybe with, say, frozen heart..?), it's 12 seconds. a good way to think of the numbers would be to break it down on a per second rate. 125 bonus armor for 5 seconds every 12 seconds can be re-imagined as 52.08 'always-on' armor, which is actually really gay. 350 hp every 12 seconds is 29.16667 hp per second. if you can get a whole team of 5 together and calculate all of their numbers together, you can think of teamfights as OPPONENT'S TOTAL DPS vs MY TEAM'S TOTAL HEALING/SHIELDING PER SECOND. if you have your number significantly higher, you steamroll in teamfights. the reason why stacking heals always win vs stacking DPS is really just due to how healing isnt reduced by your own resists. imagine healing as dealing negative true damage to yourself. the only way an opponent can keep up with your stacking heals/shields/resists is to deal all of their damage as true damage, which is sadly just not possible. will continue pt2 (ban/picks + examples) if anyone is interested

it makes perfect sense when you lay it out that way i think you should bold the part about the negative true damage and put it at the front of the post, that's the crux of it all i hope you can put up the ban/pick part tonight, i'm stoked on this
