Cause "tanky dps" just do a natural shit ton with their abilties. Pheonix stance from udyr etc. Also mummy.. if your in a sustained long fight, he can just do more damage than youd ever imagine cause he has those tears + tantrum spam. So just cause you build tank items doesn't mean you don't get damage from abilities or your items. also some items give both stats. like abyssal, wits end, wriggles, phage etc. | ||

I know champ opinion tends to fall into groupthink and confirmation bias pretty quickly, so i'm wondering if y'all have had contradictory experiences with this hero. i feel hec is weak early because i get gp5 items. if i built dorans or something i might feel differently. hec's skills dont really do a lot, u need items to power him up. thats why i get gp5. i go philo hog mercs sheen. once u get sheen u can start doing some stuff, you are a beast from this point until the end of the game. once i get sheen i really feel like i can take just about anyone from that point forward. i dont think hec makes a good tank so i build him dps. triforce core, then i usually get pd or maybe 2. bt, bc/lw, ie good choices. with triforce and pd u will have equivalent ad to an ad bruiser at the same point in the game. and that farmed late game is godly. got a quad last night in a game. hint: e-q-w skill priority. | ||

We've got a mix of opinions here on Hecarim. There was some groupthink before he released but it went away pretty quick and now gtrsrs and I respond to each other all the time to remind everyone we disagree regarding Hecarim. I don't know about him as a laner, just as a jungler. I'm surprised you'd say his mid-game is soft because as a jungler I've found it anything but. Then again I'm running around ganking and teamfighting instead of farming top. Seeing ppl with 900 games played at plat Elo, or at 1500 elo with 50-100 games played, makes me wonder if I am playing wrongly (only solo queuing instead of duo queuing for example). | ||

It's not bad or good, just means that your skill level is ~15-1600 ELO. | ||

Not necessarily that you're playing wrong, but you definitely could be improving more efficiently. | ||

After all the beginning of the tanky DPS meta was basically Triforce + tank or atmogs before we realized that WE/wriggles were good too and then got even more added (like hexdrinker/maw) in case we ever ran out of tank+DPS stuff to build. | ||

Spamming games is the easiest way to gain elo. For me I usually lose 12 and win 13. I used to need about 40 more wins than losses to be plat, which is now down to 36 (meaning I've gained about 60 elo from just playing games). When you see people with some 800+ games played, they are more than likely above what their real elo is, which is why they don't improve, and fall down easily. Or you have players like cruzer who can literally only play lee sin and blow at everything else, so they cheesed their way to high elo (similarly westrice used to only play akali). Also lee sin is one of the worst champions to main, because his mobility allows you to make many more mistakes than you could on anything else and still live, so it gives you a false sense of play security and causes you to do stupid things and feed hard when you aren't playing lee sin. If you want to improve, you might be playing roles you just aren't very good at, and you should try doing something else. I used to ap bot and ad mid, but I suck at ap and ad, so obviously I was much lower S1 than I am now. | ||

I get this so much with Riven, so used to being able to push constantly and harass inside their tower range and easily escape ganks. When I play other tops I always end up pushing too hard and dying. | ||

just finished a jungle game and it just reinforced what i said before - that once u get sheen u can go beast mode. i started 2x gp5, mercs, and then sheen. i was 1-0-0 when i got sheen (~20min), and the sejuani jungler on the other team was 3-1-0. i had more cs then the juani, and quickly started ganking and went to 2-0-3. with my advantage from gp5 (sejuani did not have gp5), the game snowballed from there and was a quick surrender victory. i was 5-0-3 at the end. | ||
