The ranked 5s team rollout for season 2 was horribly mishandled. There were a million lessons Riot could have learned from Blizzard's mistakes with the Arena system and their successes with the LFD rollout, and they were almost universally ignored. First and foremost giving players the power to constantly make and remake teams without significant penalty or cost is a recipe for disaster. In WoW this lead to arena teams recreating themselves every week and zerging 10 quick, poorly played games in order to get their points every week. In LoL this lead to a host of similar problems.
Because of these factors the ranked 5s queue was largely populated with unranked teams, creating an Elo range where Elo meant nothing. Think the start of a new Season, only forever. In addition, there's no apparent connection between ranked 5s and competitive play. When the best teams play against each other it's usually at tournaments or in scrims, and the rest of the time the individual players stream solo queue. What is the point of ranked 5s when ultimately they have no bearing on actual competition? So you have a queue where the ratings don't have much meaning and the purpose isn't clear. On top of that it's harder to organize than normals. Without reward, prestige, or purpose there's little reason for players to care. The second big problem was the lack of initial incentive to galvanize support for the feature. Blizzard learned after their failures with meetings stones and the original LFG that some tools/features require critical mass to be effective. If players merely tinker with them a bit before getting bored and moving on they will never succeed. When LFD was implemented Blizzard went out of their way to provide rewards and incentives (e.g. pets, titles, achievements, in addition to the benefits of the feature itself) in order to coax as many players as possible to try and feature and use it for a significant period of time. Ranked 5s was essentially another meeting stone/LFG failure. It was novel for players to try, but had no staying power. As a result players dabble in it from time to time but it's usually easier to just queue for normals than try to organize a team, even if you already have five people. -------------- So now that the context is out of the way, here's how it needs to be solved.
That last point is really the most difficult to implement. I'm essentially describing an entirely new feature, as alike to what we have now as the LFD was to its predecessors. Imagine a system whereby level 30 players with sufficient games played as a team could enter tournaments through the PVP.net client itself. To dream the impossible dream there could even be an automatic queue putting together mini-tournaments on the fly with incentives/compensation/diversions for players waiting for other teams to finish. In any case, the crux of that is that players need to be able to connect the ranked 5s queue to serious competition. As long as the ranked 5s system appears separate from and unrelated to actual competition interest will always be tepid.

A month gives teams the ability to play now and then and still have meaningfull success and no tournament systems are needed. just have a ladder that resets every month (keeping hidden rating for matchmaking purposes). All you have to do is credit for example 20 teams (10 us 10 eu) with some RP every month. As for champion releases. Yes i would like them to slow down / stop releasing soon. there are more then enough champions and you can already feel that its becoming hard to find interesting things to do. Unfortunatly due to being a F2P game Riot needs to keep churning out champions to keep people spending money. Its the nature of the beast. I feel like too long-term of a competition like this would just have the same couple people winning RP every month-- and how do you deal with the same person being on multiple teams in the top 20? A regular tournament would force people to stick to one team and probably give more people a shot to win, especially if it were at different times week to week.

They just make other people do it. They give them the means and the direction. What does that sound like? A support! And who WOULDNT want to play Michael Corleone? Give him a passive where he gets bonus gold for every kill on the map (cuz mobsters take a cut), an ability where he throws a horse head at someone, causing an aoe fear (cuz whats more mafia than that), Some sort of buff where he increases damage by giving the teammate a better weapon, the ability to make a teammate invis for like .5 seconds with a speed boost (going into hiding) and an ultimate where he puts a bounty on people, increasing the damage dealt to them and the reward you get (like bounty hunter from dota). Who WOULDNT want to play that champ, especially if you got the sound set right. Im convinced that 99% of the reason no one plays supports is that they dont WANT to be silly unicorn/satyrs or gay jewlers. Mind: Blown. Seriously, this would be crazy awesome. Even if the character were terribly weak, I'd play him just for the sound set and taunts.

This would take maybe 1-2 weeks and would generate them income. At 100 champs in the pool it's probably a good time to find out why people aren't playing champs that have been around for ages. Because say 20% of the players already bought karma. thats 20% who will not buy her. Unlike a new champion where you have a potential market of 100%.

I see what you mean, but there is still 20% of players who might buy the skin, plus the 80% of players who don't have her might buy the skin AND the champ... THATS 120%!!!!

Generally you can just ignore him and farm at will because you can't really kill him without a gank unless he is bad and he can escape pretty easily a 1v1 fight. He has a beastly gank support though so watch out for that. I was playing as lee sin, just wanted to max W so I can sustain myself in lane. It kind of just turned into an afk farm lane until Shaco came and ganked. Then Malph got a catalyst and tabis and kind of just pushed me out of lane.
