How is gold differential related to level of play? Have you been watching, CLG has been pushing as 5 for the last 15 minutes, so no time to CS. Gold has come entirely from turrets. CS and gold isn't that important to a poke comp. Of course, but if 4not didn't just outpick themselves with terrible heroes, it would be a different story. Almost always the team going 9-1 in turrets with 3 inhibs down is not going to be the team with a gold deficit. If they still have some lack of gold, there is a major flaw in play going on. Gold can still wins games and if 4Not hadn't lost all 3 inhibs and had a better late game composition, they could still have turned it around.
Then tell us this flaw. Don't just say "there is a major flaw in play going on" and then not elaborate. How should CLG have earned more gold?

It just doesnt give you that much. Free dragons are great, but fighting over it is typically terrible, especially when you consider that a single creep wave essentially has the same gold value as dragon, and IRRC a greater EXP value.
You cant win by getting dragons, but you sure as hell can lose the game by doing it. Uhh...no? A creep wave is worth about 130 gold. Dragon is 190 gold per person + 25 for the killer. That's 7.5 creep waves. XP is about 270 for a creep wave and is 400 for Dragon. I agree that Dragon is overrated, but throwing around random guesses at gold value that are pretty clearly wrong doesn't advance your case. Ah my bad. I intended it to mean that for each person who leaves lane it does represent a loss of about a creep wave. I just wasnt clear about it. I.E mid, bot, and even when top leave they lose what is basically a comparable amount of gold. Obviously a single creep wave does not equate to the entirety of dragon, but when you split that 190 into each character, then take into account that they have to leave lane to do it, it becomes less skewed.
The only REAL benefit is that you get gold onto the support, who werent gonna take that wave anyway.

One thing though is that Trundle advertises you're trying to do the poke comp. I don't remember the pick order for this game, but I'm guessing Maokai was done early on. If they picked Trundle 4not might have picked better to deal with the poke comp.

Part of the genius is in the maokai pick though. Their first 3 picks were Janna, Maokai, Kog. That doesn't signal a poke comp, but just 3 strong picks that can be used in a normal team. That way they can't get counterpicked easily, or if they don't feel comfortable after seeing 4 picks from the enemy team.
If they pick Trundle it pretty much signals a poke comp and the other team can pick accordingly.

Casters still sat it out like champs. Day9 only complained about it in the next SotG, never on the mainstage.
