Stats that are per level on runes don't help as much until late game, but you want runes to kick in as early as possible so you can win lane. I use armor but it's probably not the best choice for laning against another AP. | ||

Edit: hp/lvl equalizes with flat hp at lv5 so imagine it would be the more common choice if someone wanted that | ||

I feel like for most AP carries going AP/lvl seals is a lot better than either of those choices. Armor isn't going to help much early game in mid and neither is HP/lvl. HP/lvl can probably catch up later and be more useful but will usually be, imo, less useful than just AP/lvl seals. Note that if you go solo top with like Vlad, Kennen, Swain, or whatever that armor seals are probably gonna be your most solid bet and that with any of those three champs I think defensive seals makes a lot more sense. But with a large number of AP carries I'd rather just run all damage runes. Just my two cents. edit: bigfatjiji runs spellpen red, flat AP quint, AP/lvl yellows, AP/lvl blues on most of his AP carries. | ||

I really don't feel like Leblanc falls of nearly as hard as people say, her burst and mobility is obscene all the time, and with an ult on 20s cd she has consistent damage output. Panth also falls off a bit, but if you don't just stack BT's and get some bruiser gear you can still do good+ult is great for split pushing. I think AP Sion is the worst falloff. You are just a king early and mid running around blasting people, then when teamfighting starts you cant get to their squishies and your shield gets popped along with 75% of your damage, leaving you useless and squishy until your stuff comes off CD. It is horrible. | ||

It is horrible. AP Sion falls off if you build him bad. But AP Sion with DFG, Rabadon, and Lich bane is a giant pain in the a**. He deals absurd amounts of damage, is very hard to kill, and after that he can go Phantom dancer and transition to hybrid. He doesn't have a godlike late game but it's nothing compared to a Garen, Eve, Kat, ... | ||
