In keeping with this objective, we’re going to begin distributing some rewards to our new players to help them on their way to level 30. Once a new summoner reaches level 3 they will receive 400 Riot Points as a reward for their participation and perseverance up to that point. Riot so generous. http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/news/new-summoner-rewards-coming-soon
Don't you hit level 2 after the tutorial, and level 3 after one game? If that's perseverance I'm a canonized saint.

To be fair, if all three of your lanes are losing straight up there's nothing you're ever going to be able to do as a jungler, regardless of what hero you're playing. It depends on how badly the three lanes are losing though. One death and a slight CS disadvantage means that you lost your lane but the game isn't unwinnable. Now if all three lanes are feeding, yeah, you're probably fucked. But I've had several games where every lane loses yet we still manage to come back and win because we either have a team that can defend well or the opposing team lacks pushing power or poke.
It all comes down to communication I believe and unfortunately it's rare to meet understanding players that don't whine/rage/flame at you for feeding/dying or whatever wrong move you do.

It should be level 20 or 30, honestly. Better to have people have a basic understanding of the game before going out to spend their RP. So many people gonna buy 450IP champs with RP now.
|
Cheapest champion is 585, 3 skins are under 400, most xp boosts and 1 Ip boost are under it. Sounds less like a perseverance away and more like a badly disguised attempt at getting people to buy points.
not counting the 450 ip champs but seriously thats like 5 games.
|
Yeah my immediate reaction was that 400 RP literally isn't enough to buy anything except a cheap skin on a 50% sale.
|
the RP 'package' system is so abusive. I doubt there is any legitimate reason you couldn't just enter the amount of RP you want and pay according to the same curve they currently have. The "we would get screwed on transaction costs" argument is bullshit too, they could just have the same minimum purchase amount they have now.
That and rune pages give me a pretty jaundiced view of their general methods of getting money from us.

Oh the joys of playing with a support in ranked who enjoys doing his job and is good at it. This sona did fucking WORK <3 and the team was nice, everyone saying gj whenever someone did something good and no blame game when someone did something bad or we lost a team fight.
Cheers to you MrPlasticJesus!
Side note, the game was surreal because at 1100ish elo EVERYONE was buying wards, rotating oracle buying to clear wards ON BOTH sides and generally had a much greater grasp then what I have ever seen in a game at my elo thus far. Was crazy.

Though to the beginner why not spend some extra money to get that awesome 450rp new champ!

is doublelift a retard quote machine? SV says that the cdr on blue buff is worth "thousands of gold" so doublelift counters with "lucidity boots are 750 gold", yes because lucidity boots are viable ;/ you have to compare it to the cdr value on items you can actually get, and in that situation getting 20% is in the region of 2000g
this was in reference to blue buff being op, and much stronger than red buff (in SV's opinion)

Just a random insert here, but Doublelift used to consider Lucidy viable boots on Blitz. Tbh, when you listen to him and put him in the Blitz/Garen/Poppy-only mindset, a lot of what he says makes more sense. Unfortunately, he's now AD Carry. So yah lol. So much Hyuk.

Glacial Shroud's upgrade only costs 425 gold and gets you 225 mana with 15% CDR. Even if you have no use for mana, it's still only 825 gold for 15% CDR (plus 700 gold for the 45 armor from Chain Vest).
I guess if you have absolutely no use for either mana or armor, it's pretty expensive for the CDR. Then you'd probably get Morello's Evil Tome which does cost 2350 gold, but comes with 75 AP.

Ìt may not be worth thousands of gold but to get 20-25% cdr you need to spend thousands of gold somewhat on stats you don't need.

Honestly speaking, if we're going to blindly gold value the stats on blue, the big clincher is that 100 mp5 is worth 5.5k gold.
Practically speaking, putting gold value on buffs that don't take item slots is awkward in and of itself.

Technically you don't, because you could get that CDR from runes/masteries, and the opportunity cost would simply be the runed/masteried stats you give up to get that CDR.

IMO Blue is worth an infinite amount of gold. You cant put a price on never running out of mana.

Chalice! Been running philo/chalice maokai instead of the glacial shroud shit and it sustains you all game long without ever running out of mana in reasonable circumstances.

Cooldown reduction costs virtually nothing.
Stinger: 10% CDR, 40% attack speed, 1090 gold Recurve Bow: 40% attack speed, 1050 gold
10% CDR costs 40 gold. Thus blue buff is only worth 80 gold. Of course, you have to want attack speed.
