Every AoE shield/heal active item like that in DotA (Mek/Pipe) always ever had to have a "can't receive the active multiple times in a short period of time" restriction. Even Heal in LoL has this built into the "repeated Heals have diminished effect" part.

From reading the item, it isn't a 230 damage shield for every person, it's a 230 damage shield for all 5 people. Aka it absorbs 230 from anyone and it falls off. Not that op at all.

I am 85% sure you will get some kind of debuff that does not allow you to receive the shield for the next 30 seconds or something.

I doubt it. I don't think there is any item or ability in the game that functions like that.

I find that unlikely because having a "shared" buff that tracks numbers across 5 separate people is going to be weird as fuck to implement.

And yeah, I don't think any other ability functions that way.

Well, it looks like we're finally getting Pipe in LoL.

To be honest, that item gives basically 1k damage block late game, is like Lux land her shield on everybody. if the cost is too low it could be broken.

We shall see though.

yeah it seems like it'll be too strong with those numbers

going (as a jungler)
rejuv+pot > philo boots > hog > boots 2 > emblem > locket seems really strong, especially once you tack in a shurelyas and/or an aegis. That's a ton of cost-efficient stats and they're all pretty well-rounded, but heavier on the armor side (and most teams these days are armor heavy on NA with an AD bot and bruiser top/jungle). Might delay the shurelya's till later, idk.

If there's no restriction on multiple shields in a short period of time, just have all 5 players rush the thing and start pushing towers/taking dragons. Everyone will have 30 hp5 to sit on for sustain, and if they actually try to make fights happen, you're sitting on absurd amounts of shield value.

There pretty much has to be a "can't be shielded again for 30 seconds" debuff for this thing not to be retarded.

Eh, I don't think its the same. The only way to heal with those is to push your lane (or fight ofc). Which can be punished. Maybe that's the issue with Kennen, he can heal off pushing with WotA and get away with pushing his lane as much as he wants because of his e.

Edit: actually maybe thats the problem with a lot of characters like that, the 'downside' of sustaining as wriggles nidalee/udyr/ahri/etc isn't really a downside because of how much mobility they get. So its less lifesteal/spellvamp thats an issue as it is that plus ungankable-ness.

Yes, there are far too many champions with free escapes.

Pushing the lane isn't an issue when you either have tons of escapes or have tons of ward coverage. You don't really have to push the lane very hard to heal up as an AD carry when you're sitting on 21%+ lifesteal.

Lifesteal by itself is fine, but it's the abuse cases in certain scenarios caused by the fact that it doesn't translate evenly across all archetypes or even champions within archetypes. The exact same goes for spell vamp in that it's perfectly fine on mana champions, but completely broken on non-mana champions.

The one thing you could potentially change is how efficiently you can get early life steal, specially with dblades. You already want them for the HP and AD, but the lifesteal is just icing on the cake. Vamp scepter by itself is only done by AD carries, so if you move more of the lifesteal to the item in builds into, you could kill some of the 2 dblade scepter tons of sustain openers. You would hurt some junglers in the process.


My personal feeling is that lifesteal/vamp is a great mechanic for jungling and fighting enemy champs and a pretty horrible one when you are just right clicking creeps. The solution I've always felt was best is to just have lifesteal function at partial (half?) effectiveness vs minions (and full effectiveness vs neutral creeps). It neuters the abuse cases while keeping the ones that make the mechanic basically fun.

Well, tank supports (taric/ali/leona/nunu) often would get Aegis before a Shurelya's, so the case is if they want to go for a Locket or an Aegis and then (if both), which order and do they get Shurelya's before or after. It's a lot of gold to get all of them as a support. I doubt I'll get a Locket before Shurelya's on sona/janna/soraka, though.

These builds are pretty funny though

I don't think supports should be the one bearing the load of these new support items. If anything, having new powerful support items means people should make a greater effort to distribute the burden across the whole team.

I've been hoping CLG does some team switching around and tries it. Like, take 1 person per team and swap them w/ their counterpart. See if there are any good habits to pick up or bad habits to point out. CLG, having 2 full teams, is in a position to really use their squads to practice. I think they'd be missing out on a huge opportunity if they only used it for scrims.

By the way, at 1100 elo if you in your opinion are in "elo hell" aka way better than the people you play with, AP Sion mid is the way to go. it's impossible to not carry with him if you're way better, and it's completely effortless. The late game shouldn't even arrive if you do it properly. Sure, you'll lose some impossible games, but your winrate is going to still go through the roof.
