Thank you very much. There's not much. You need someone who can trade at early levels and come out ahead. Udyr is good because of his sustain and good damage. Wukong does ok if you're cautious, but isn't the best choice. Lanewick or Nasus work with sustain and tankyness, but probably aren't the best choices. The thing about Riven is that her damage is so good all game, especially with farm. You need someone who can stay alive in lane and out-scale her or deny her farm. However, as a Riven player, I hope no one ever really learns how to counter her Well, I was thinking about that too, but is there really a champion that out-scales her? I couldn't really find one, but my knowledge is quite limited(and lol wiki is locked at work! ^^ ) There's not a lot. Maybe Nasus if you let him freefarm, or something like Snowballing Akali/Irelia. Maybe Jax? But yeah, you need to outfarm and just try to bully her out of lane. Maybe Panth could work, but I've never had a problem with one as Riven. Also my necrophilic love yorick is pretty awesome against riven and he also scales quite well as well as supporting your ad carry by making a clone of him with 75% damage for 10 seconds. Oh yeah, Yorick.
Fuck that guy.
Edit: also, Volibear is kinda rough, though that might just be still getting used to him. You can't effectively duel him a lot with his passive, and his W burst with a couple health items is kinda crazy. He's not impossible, but pretty painful.
On a similar vein, Singed. You really need to bully and punish him for the first few levels or he'll just become immovable.

About the Shushei thing, and in regards to other casters out there:
This is why your parents (tried) to teach you manners. I don't enjoy listening to people talk like arrogant ****oles, especially when its concerning a video game of all things. Manners matter, in everything you do. I know some people think civility is an antiquated notion, or a trait of weakness. But those people are idiots. It doesn't matter what your profession is, somewhere along the line, it will matter what people think of you.
I'm really glad Shushei is getting this extra attention. I know he isn't the only "mannered" streamer out there (and I'm not even saying he's perfect in that regard), but "mannered" casters do seem to be in the minority.
If RIOT wants their pro-scene to succeed - and they do - then it would only make sense for them to try their best to project the image that not everyone who plays their game gets off on acting like a degenerate,
Sorry, but watching some various LoL streams as of late, and the way some of these people talk and use the chat... I didn't expect much, honestly, but man was I disappoint. Watching Shushei's stream (in Santa Claus attire, no less) was a breath of fresh air for me. RIOT made an easy, sensible choice.

Who are the top 5 solo top champs. I want to try a new role now that I'm taking a break from jungling until the kinks are all worked out of it.
|
Jungle Mundo everyone. Try it.
R>E>Q>W with one point in W if you need to start farmin like a boss Smite and Ghost or Cleanse
+ Show Spoiler [Masteries] + + Show Spoiler [Runes] + + Show Spoiler [Items] +
You can start at enemy gols or at yours. Then wraiths (killed by 2:20 - most jungles can't make it there that fast), then wolves, blue, gols wraiths wolves red gank. You can basically take red any time after level 2, and it barely costs any health if you have smite up. You have a high dragon threat all game, and if you get a lucky early gank (or if mid and bot can slip away unnoticed) you can drag as early as level 2 thanks to cleaver.

Imo (and a bit biased), in no particular order:
Yorick Riven Nasus Sion Wukong
Are all really good top laners. Udyr and Skarner also do very well in lane, but are better suited to jungling.

Jungle Rumble is legit yo.

more than half the suggestions to counter riven were kinda dumb... garen can go for a level 2 kill wtih dblade and ad marks, but if he doesn't manage to kill her then, he's fucked and her e makes it so that you can trade with garen post 3 very easily not to mention you can w before his q auto gets into range and run away if you dont wanna fight with him at any point
pantheon gets destroyed and is fairly easy to gank nasus gets destroyed and is easy to gank
cho is really disadvantaged level 1-2, but if he can get over the rocky early levels and builds some good armor early it can become a farm off (i still wouldn't want to play cho against her because you're kinda forced into a static build path that the enemy AP should be able to take advantage of but w/e) they're both decent to gank for, but late game riven is a much bigger beast midgame fights they're both strong
olaf is strong vs her, its a matchup with very little margin of error for riven, but whoever gets the first gank will usually win. riven outscales him like fuck, so he MUST win or he's screwed
tryndamere scales comparably with riven and is equally strong or stronger at levels 2-3, so that's another matchup that comes down to ganks and individual skill level / use of skills well.
ryze with boots can kite her quite well, riven needs boots in that matchup because of how ryze's w works. after ryze gets tear, its a pain in the ass, because you WILL be forced back, even with wriggles.
udyr and irelia work, but neither can usually shut down her farm, and neither like trading farm because there are very few windows where either is as strong as riven in teamfights (level 7 irelia is pretty scary, but most dragon teamfights won't happen then; riven does a lot more aoe damage than irelia as well as being comparably or more mobile).
gangplank... i've never seen a gangplank shut me down, but i have shut down a TON of gangplanks. he has less survivability if he builds glass cannon, and his kit in general is less suited for teamfighting with the exception of his ult (and riven's probably does more damage anyway) and will get shut down if both riven and GP have wriggles and they are trading hits
i would probably go ryze or olaf because each definitely has a time period during which they are definitively stronger than riven in lane and in teamfights, and tryndamere for a safe fall-back that has good scaling (because olaf at least gets outscaled like fuck by riven, and ryze while having quite a bit of utility has less damage than her for sure)

Shushei's stream is awesome. I remember he played AP alistar and wore a bull head. Really entertaining. I don't always watch streams, but when I do the sound is off anyway, so I think the fact he would go through the extra effort to put on a show for the veiwers makes it more entertaining. To find out he's not a guy raging at his team over vent or bming people or what ever, but actively trying to improve and entertain, the dude is a genuine nice guy, he deserves the recognition. HotshotGG has a good stream, but it takes a guy willing to show up to dream hack with a 6 gallon water cooler jug, asking riot to make him his own personal Gragas skin to really stand out and show how little fucks he gives. I wanted to stay out of this whole discussion, but I agree with your opinion and Riot's decision.

Better nerf Irelia. Xerath gets 80% magic pen. I think that's way more op. Neither of these are true, since both of these stack additively, not multiplicatively.
Irelia gets: 100 - (100-35) mercs * (100 - 40) passive around 3 enemies * (100 - 10) juggernaut = 65% CC Reduction.
Xerath gets: 100 - (100-40) void * (100 - 30) Locus * (100 - 10) Mastery = 63% Magic penetration.
Edit: corrected amount of cc reduction irelia gets around enemies. That's always been irelia's thing though. She's been nerfed pretty hard already, I dont really think she's that crazy anymore.

its 40% reduction with three enemies, so it ends up being 65% reduction.

is there a new way to do jungle masteries? I am so confused on how to jungle now..

This riven outscaling olaf I really need to test. Heard it far too many times and still don't believe it

To chip in on the featured stream discussion - long before discovering TL/etc, I would have never thought of watching a LoL tournament (or show matches) if their homepage hadn't featured all their IEM/"this week in eSports" etc (which I ended up enjoying, and subsequently paid attention to!) - and I still wouldn't have twigged about streamers if TL GD/etc didn't constantly mention them - I think people are overestimating the general awareness of streamers from those who picked up LoL who weren't from DotA or a competitive gaming background (SC etc), why-would-I-want-to-watch-other-people-play-video-games bemusement etc. Any time I'd have spare to watch a streamer I'd rather be in game, but I'm sure a significant portion of viewers resulting from this will be first-time, rather than spillover from an existing stream.

what about vayne or some other ranged AD top vs Riven? they should be able to harass her quite hard and you should be able to walk out of her Q range once she starts to jump around.

"Random Solo Q'r: teemo solo top" *hover mouse over teemo on ban picks* You're ridiculing yourself with this. Teemo is a strong solo top. No, just no. There are far better options that are better in the laning phase and team fighting phases.

It works, but that would go against the meta, and people would rather dodge than try something new.

Chaox' stream is p. funny right now. He plays MF and just dominates the entire opposing team. "Fall back? No, they will die because I will it." and then he 3 kills with like 10% health left

teemo is pretty much the answer to every fotm top throughout the history of the game though seriously, go look at trends on who's been popular at what time. time and time again it comes around to teemo countering common solos. he's a super strong pick for laning phase, especially shutting down someone who farms well because he's like "lol nope if you last hit i will kill you =^_^="
