That is, if they didn't buy enough pots/regen that you can out sustain the harass and win trades or at least not lose enough that your pots/regen pulls through. If irelias sustain is some kind of problem to you I suggest you try out swain or nasus or vlad or warwick who are the same deal. Swain's Sustain doesn't hit till 6, Nasus has to be farmed 150+ minions on his q to be noticable, Vlad's regen kit doesn't really turn on until about 7, and WW is very easy to beat up top with people who have any sort of magic resist. Irelia's sustain is a flat amount which is fine, but the other parts of her kit make her very retarded at staying alive AND dealing massive damage. Her ult is the main offender for me. | ||

The skill is ment to be multifuctional, the issue is that it's multiple functions are too many. It's adept at tearing squishies apart at levels 2 and 3, early in the game it is great for turning the lane around because it automaticly pushes the lane once used, followed by late in the game being very strong at ripping through 4-5 people who want to team fight. i would like to see the skill NOT heal her unless it his a champion. Or while the blades are up, her W heals for double it's base amount. 82 per swing when its maxed and blades are up is quite a bit, especially since Triforce puts you at 1.3 Aspeed with her kit. | ||

The main offender I've seen is udyr. It's very hard for her to get an early advantage without pumping the first 3-4 points into her W. | ||

Nasus has 14% free lifesteal, not just his Q heals him. He heals a LOT and not just when he has stacked up Q. Irelias sustain isn't that high either, until you get level 7+ and wriggles. And if irelia is too strong, why is she only an average pick these days? Feels like the karthus of top, doesn't lose any lanes but doesn't win that many. Except karthus is much stronger in teamfights IMO. | ||

That's the case for a lot of tough irelia matchups. Against udyr it's a farm fest which is okay cause irelia scales really well. Olaf I've never played or seen before so I cant say. Only real irelia counters are people who make the lane a farm fest and scale harder | ||
