Hey, I mostly play carry or tank types, but I want to try something different. What's your picks for best "assassin" characters? Not necessarily the Assassin tag (them too), but really the type of character that excels at seeing an opportunity and going for the kill.
I thought Talon looked like he might be what I'm looking for, but I'm holding off until I can try him and everyone and their brother stops playing him. Vayne looks fun, though I've yet to actually see her in a game. AD stacked Trynd also looks like he might be able to just wreck people after charging forward, but I dunno.
Any suggestions are welcomed, I just want to get some feedback before I spend points.

Dammit, queues again on Eu East, how does it look at Eu West? 10 minutes at the moment, wondering how bad it will get later tonight and if a change to Eu West might be worth it. Also any news on US servers that sometimes were used on Eu West, are they gone or still there?

Yeah and if you can manage to not get hit by the Orianna ball she is the worst AP user in the game. Let's be realistic, Cass stomps on Swain hard. Swain is a pretty weak champ to begin with. People pretend that he hard counters melee but that's just not true. Even if he did he would be a pretty poor champ because all the melee you find tend to run around in the jungle, not the mid lane he seems to claim instantly.
I don't know about that, I find swain to be pretty strong. Might just be the level I play at, but his harass in lane is pretty good, you can't really trade with him at level 1 because his DoT is potent and it increases the effectiveness of his autoattacks as well. Once he hits 6 he's extremely hard to push off lane with a Revolver or Catalyst, especially if you can secure blue and once he gets his hourglass it's basically impossible to kill him.
In no specific order: RoA/WotA/Hourglass/Abyssal Scepter are the items of choice for him. Makes you beefy enough to be walking in the middle of a fight while damaging enough to still be relevant throughout the game.
His kit is really useful for assisting a gank as well, If you nevermove just behind someone they have to walk towards you in order to avoid it or get rooted in place (both are good when your jungler is charging from the brush). If they walk towards you they eat a laserbird and are slowed and if they walk away they get rooted and then eat a laserbird for the slow when the root wears off. If they blow flash to avoid the whole thing tell your jungler to come back in a minute and do it all again. At worse they blow flash and then play passively but that's still a victory for you because now it's that much easier to zone them and cripple their farm.

omg just played a EU account up to gold needed 2 elo took 6 games most infuriating couple of hours EVER
game 1: ww jungle. start with FB on their malz. our mordekaiser takes my golems 3 times. all three times it brings him down to ~300 HP and he INSTA-DIES when he gets into lane against ree sin. 2 people then rage-quit. WTF. easy loss.
game 2: ww jungle. d/c on our team. easy loss.
game 3: panth. i hold talon to 5 creeps by the time i've hit level 9. he's level 4. easy win.
game 4: panth. easy win. OKAY SO GOLD RIGHT? NO BRO 1 ELO LOL JOKES ON ME
game 5: panth. easy wi-j/k disconnect easy loss. 60% of EU games have d/c?
game 6: panth. easy easy easy win. gold achieved I CAN FINALLY SLEEP
did i just have the worst string of luck or is disconnecting/rage quitting really rampant on EU west?

I'm not sure if this is the right place but it is the LoL forum and it is the general discussion so I think it might fit.
I watched the LoL finals at IEM and it really looked interesting. I've played DotA years back, HoN some time ago, and a friend of mine is an avid LoL ranked player, so I thought, sure, why not, give it a try. It did look cool after all.
My first week or so with LoL has been a motivational nightmare. The patch difficulties added to it, though such things happen and I try to filter that out from my general frustration, but the games ... oh, the games. The horror.
I mean, sure. The DotA community wasn't exactly nice to begin with, and HoN's playerbase is a twisted parody of what a community should be like, so I didn't expect too much from the first games in LoL, despite having heard a lot of praise about it being the more "mature" of the MobA games' communities. But it's the same! It's as if I were playing HoN all over again.
So far, I've played a dozen games or so, and each and every one of the has had either flamers, leavers, incomplete teams, guys preaching on chat about how the game should be played or whole teams saying nothing while being slaugthered over and over again. I've either been playing with loudmouthed (or mute) egomaniacs or loudmouthed (or mute) people unable to react (and apparently unable to complete the tutorial as well).
I couldn't care less about skill-disparities, I expected to lose most of the first games and I have - that happens. But I haven't had any fun so far. Nothing. Except for the first 20 minutes of the first game (before it degenerated into a flamefest) and when I bought Morgana, I haven't really enjoyed myself in this game because how awful team-wise my team"mates" have been overall. Sure, most people on my level will just start the game, I'm fine with that, BUT NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM TALKS (constructively). Noone asks for help, noone chats ingame, noone responds to hints, pings, targets, "care"s or "ss bot"s or anything. Almost every match feels like playing multiplayer with 3-4 other guys that happen to play single player in my game.
Does this get better on higher levels? Do ranked matches have better teams, more communication, more real human interaction? The game does look fun and it could be fun if I felt like playing in a real team, but right now, I don't see myself playing this any more.

If you're grinding a new account, I'd definitely try to get some friends with you to make the game a little more bearable. Considering you're new to the game, it's pretty difficult to drag your team to victory if you're not sure of all the champions and all the skills (past MOBA experience only helps to an extent, but you can't "carry" in LoL like you could in DotA).
At low level normal games, just focus on winning your lane. If you come across someone remotely competent, add him after the game and queue a few more normals together. That's more or less how the beta community got to know each other at the start. You pretty much need a thick skin to shrug off all the flames and stupidity in a "team" game like LoL.

"worst string of luck"? You had it EASY 5 times 1 game from 1900. None of those games was even close. Then I hit a 6 game loss streak, including 2 games against godrjsdnd IV. He's on his way to get a 4th acc into the top 20 and my rating is collateral damage.

What the hell?, you state you played dota and hon and that LoL is the same in terms of the community and the people you have to deal with, so how is this surprising?.
What makes you think this would stop? You're always playing with or against retards, at any level. Its just a matter of having a thick skin, which you SHOULD have developed by now from playing dota and hon.
The MOBA community is the worst out of any gaming community, if you can't deal with people being retards you should not be playing these types of games. It will never change, because its a team game -- you're stuck with 4 random people. Rage will happen, stupidty will happen. Deal with it.
The QQ from hotshotgg at 2400 elo and joeschmo at 1321 elo is no different, its just a matter of perspective.

I was having problems with lag the day of the patch, but things seem to have cleared up since then. I have seen a lot more people disconnecting recently though, but I've been smurfing with a friend who has never played mobas before so I'm not sure if it's just the low levels just giving up either.
