So your carry has +120 armor, but that can be accomplished plenty well with Soraka in a support role rather than putting her in mid like a lot of people on streams/other forums will be doing. You don't need her with 255 cs in mid to get a buff that's not dependent on skills but levels.

If you have Soraka mid, and you deny the enemy mid enough farm, it's essentially a 4v4 or 4.5v4.5. If your team has planned around having their mid champ be useless lategame, while the enemy put someone important there, it's going to be favorable for your team still.

Yea like I said, she's not gonna be a top tier solo mid champ. But IMO it's kinda like a solo mid Janna. It will work and it will have an impact on the game. Will the impact be as great as say a solo mid Annie or Brand? Probably not, but it will do just fine in specific matchups and solo q

I tend to think the opposite, Ryuu/Yango. Running a composition like Soraka in mid has very specific goals and very specific outcomes, which tends to not fit the whole solo queue mentality, where people rage, have huge egos, and troll all the time.
How many people in solo queue will understand you saying "a plan that revolves around having their mid champion useless in the late game," as compared to "i'm going to farm in lane really hard and get a few kills since my champion counters theirs real hard." Basically nobody, which is why champs like Zilean don't see a lot of use in solo queue, since they require a lot of team coordination to take advantage of.

Obviously don't want Gangplank mid too often but I just GP vs Sora and I guess he's one answer. You have parley so you can sit outside of Starcall range and even if you get hit you're tanky enough and have enough regen with philo to wait out the stacks while pew pewing her. Of course, if she silences you, you can scurvy it, slow and speed boost with E for the kill.

See thing is...soraka actually scales pretty damn well and has a global ult. If you go more or less even in a lane vs AP caster, it's not exactly a lost lane.

Ooh dear god.
Just went endgame against an enemy Morde. Their entire team was absolutely pants on head retarded but that Morde was pretty much soloing our entire team.
Think he went like 26/5 or something. In the end though even Morde has to face the music with proper timing of CC.

Or, look at it the other way--other mid APs need farm to operate mid-late game so they're going to eventually push the lane off last-hitting. Soraka absolutely does not need that much gold to function mid-late, so if she gets ahead enough in lane that she can zone her opponent, she can maintain a full deny just by freezing the lane and not last-hitting, while hurting herself far less than other mid APs would doing so.

I haven't played a legitimate game in 3 months. I decide to play kayle. Had to go bot lane with urgot, end up vs nasus + twitch lolol. We zone them so hard. Double kill in 5 mins, they have 20 total cs by 10 mins. We have no jungle, they do, their jungle udyr super fed. Npnp BP farm bot with no map awareness and ends up 1v3ing their kennen, twitch, veigar and taking inhib while their udyr defending vs rest of my team and their nasus jerking off top for no reason.
We win np in 20 mins and our ashe was disconnected for like 10 of them. Wtf?

So i asked in the first few pages, but I didn't really get a true response.
When is it really worth it to stop buying extra armour/MR on tanks? I know 100 resistance is 50% damage reduct, 150 is 60% and 200 is 66%, but when does it become not worth the money for more?
I have been stopping at 150 on maokai, and 200 on other tanks, so I am not sure which is more efficient.
