Doesn't sound useless to me. I think this is overstating it. Groups move back and forth, once people pop enough skills the generally commit to a teamfight. If you place the zone before the initial damage wich signals a commitment, people will refuse to walk into the zone. If you wait till after they commit then the majority of the damage has allready been fired and your ulti will not prevent all that much. It certainly doesn't stop 1/5th of the damage, that is just too perfect a scenario. It is the same situation as the Annie ultimate. Annie fans will pretend like you can AoE stun 5 enemy people every single time, but that just isn't true, it's not realistic to suggest that. The Maokai ultimate will in most cases be placed too early or too late. Some people suggest that you can predict a teamfight but again, that isn't realistic. People will not engage if they see that ulti zone, it's as simple as that. You can only place it after people commit to a fight and that is after the initial damage. | ||

E is really meki 2 pot opening or dorans shield (if ur gonna be harassed or not) build: chalice, sorc / mercs / cdr boots (whatever fits best, sorc if u need dmg, cdr for tank or if they stack too much MR, merc selfexplanatory cc reduc), RoA. Then decide if you need damage or survive, for survive get frozen heart / FoN (youre so slow you need that speed from my experience i got caught so many times where i couldnt do shit) or abyssal / deathcap/void | ||

You can force fights for example at Baron, Dragon, and Towers. You do baron and when the enemy team appears you ult the area in front of Baron. Free Baron or a highly advantageous teamfight? Win-win. Do the same to allow your DPS to take down a tower uncontested. | ||

BAM shrooms explode, I open up and start pwnin' ass in the traditional yordle style. Jarvan ults, and flashes out, and runs away. Captain teemo gets hacked to bits trapped with 2 baddies.
