How could a concept like this be applied to LoL to encourage more aggressive play? I'm asking 'cause several people here understand the flow of the game better than I do (especially high level european playstyles), and therefore what the repercussions of introducing different mechanics would be. Questions I'd like help answering: *Is it okay to punish a team which is behind on gold and levels for playing passively? *Is it okay to punish a team which is ahead on gold and levels for playing passively? *If so, should the degree of punishment 'scale' with how far ahead a team is? *What would be a good way to punish a team; reducing the power of their turrets? Granting them smaller rewards for champion kills? Giving them a debuff which gives them combat penalties? Giving the enemy team a movespeed buff? *Should these debuffs apply only when you're on your side of the map, or should they apply regardless of where you are? There are other considerations, such as how would the game detect a team that's playing too passively, but I'd first like to explore whether this idea makes sense at all or not.

If you keep on playing very defensive, you are affected by Negative Penalty (you lose all of your special power bar in Guilty Gear, you get a debuff causing you to take extra damage temporarily in BlazBlue iirc). This would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard to implement properly and stupid aswell. For example, getting zoned and getting punished on top of that because you play passive?
