I normally run a super defensive spec Rumble so 1-2 doran shields + Rylai's is pretty much all the survivability I need to be an obnoxious a-hole.

It's probably not a bad item on him, but I think that you get more out of other items. People see "HP and AP Needs that!"

You don't *need* the extra slow, but with it your Q makes you completely inescapable.

I played for a few weeks a loooong time ago and I'm trying again. I'm summoner level 13 and I would like to get into jungling with Amumu but from what I understand runes are essentially required for this and so my question is should I be patient and wait til these runes are available to me or can I get by with the cheaper ones that are available? I've been using the Lane Amumu build in WaveofShadow's guide and it works fairly well at my level but I would like to start jungling because from what I see its an important part of the game at higher levels.

If you want to get better as a LoL player, there are plenty of skills you have to learn: How to lane properly, map awareness, jungling, etc. If you want to learn jungling right away, I suggest you buy Warwick, he needs less help from Runes and Masteries to be able to jungle. Otherwise, just get used to laning until you're higher level and can jungle properly with a champion like Amumu.

If you feel like you can go ahead and get a full oddone page, then save. Otherwise just grab tier 1. I have just over 5k banked from when I played before so I'll probably just save. I only need to be over level 20 for T3 yes? Any suggestions on champions for getting the basics down with? I own Ashe, YI, Fiddle (not sure why), and Amumu at the moment. I also have 5k to spend though. I appreciate the help.

I've been using the Lane Amumu build in WaveofShadow's guide and it works fairly well at my level but I would like to start jungling because from what I see its an important part of the game at higher levels. Generally jungling before lvl 20 is really not advised because the masteries + runes are so crucial. Jungling itself carries risks and you really need those runes+masteries just to be able to keep up with the lanes. Also, at sub-lvl 20 people tend not to be skilled enough to 1v2 top lane so you risk losing top lane as a result. While it's good you want to learn jungling, I think it's best put off for a bit longer. In the mean time though, there are still plenty of other really important skills you can learn. First off, learn to last hit. It's a really basic mechanical skill that all players should be able to do. Secondly, learn map awareness. While you're in lane, it's so easy to tunnel vision. Learning to keep occasionally glancing at your mini-map or using tab to quickly check for who is missing is really important. Don't learn to rely on missing calls; it's a really bad habit. Thirdly, learn who to prioritise attacking in a team fight. Generally, this will be the carry on the other team, and then who ever you can find. Once you have these basic skills nailed down, the next most important thing to learn is positioning. During your grind to Tier 3 runes, this should really be your main focus. It's really hard to describe how to learn positioning apart from just telling you to practise. You can think of it a bit like positioning in SC2 though. Don't try to fight when your team has a bad concave. If the other team has a lot of AoE, don't stay too clumped together and spread out a little (like against banelings). AD Range Carries should try to stay back and just do lots of damage (like Colossi). Tanky people should be forward. Don't be the range carry that tries to go into melee range to do damage. When I hit 20 I hadn't spent any IP yet and I had around 23k IP banked. Filling up my open rune slots with cookie-cutter runes (APen, MPen, Flat Armour+Mres, HP and APen Quints) cost me about 10k IP. Also, you can buy T3 Runes before lvl 20, you just can't use them. On June 15 2011 01:50 Azerbaijan wrote: Yeah that is a better way to get back into the game. AP Caster: Annie is the classic AP Caster and is cheap. She is also the AP Caster which the Design Team uses as a baseline. With her, learn to Flash then drop your ultimate. The Flash-Ult combo is something a lot of burst casters like to do so suddenly kill someone. Generally, the rule of thumb is that when Annie hits 6 in mid, someone is going to die. Range AD Carry: Ashe is a good choice. You're really squishy so you have to learn how to position well. Also, her ult teaches you how to use skillshots. Also, learn to attack, move, attack. It's something all ranged champions should be able to do. The premise is to right click a creep, click somewhere to move, then attack something else. By constantly moving you're harder to hit with skillshots and your hands are more warmed up when you suddenly have to respond to something. Tank: There's no real tank in LoL, but Shen is someone I think who would be good to start with. With tanks, learning when to charge and initiate and when to stay back and babysit your carry is important. Support: Soraka is a cheap basic support. Your main focus is to babysit your carry. Just keep healing, buying wards and in a teamfight see if you can get a clutch silence off. Think that's most of them covered. Also, join LiquidParty. Generally there will be someone willing to help you find the ropes.

If you want to jungle, go with oddone's nunu page. It will get you through most everything. If you want to jungle and do other things as well (ie ad carry), substitute the aspeed reds for armpen.

Soraka rushing deathcap and buying zero wards seemed to be the recipe for our success. Also amu being 2 strong.

I would recommend against playing any melee hero for the time being because they require good understanding of all heroes to initiate properly, as most melee heroes are once-in-can't-get-out.

That must have been before the massive IP nerf to games (or now that I think about it it could be just spread over alot of days). I'm level 10 now with a 70-75% win rate I still get 21 ip every game as a ip boost. And I havn't spent a single IP and I'm at 3k. I know that it is a steep uphill to 20 from 10 but it's not a 3k to 20k difference. Especially since my IP boosts should run out pretty much any game now. and all those runes you mention should cost you around 20k not 10.
