Most range carried would rather be rushing their first BF Sword into IE/BT/BC anyway. The item is also an active which doesn't apply to your auto-attacks but is instead a targetted ability. I might be wrong here though. Exec's does affect healing from Q and W because they are healing effects. It doesn't affect spellvamp because it's not a healing effect.

The other thing to remember is that a level 9 Vlad that got denied is still a level 9 Vlad. I've seen lots of games lost because people got cocky after denying Vlad early, and let him farm his way back into the game.

When I'm ahead of Vlad I just kill him over and over and over again and never let him back into the game. The problem with level 9 denied Vlads is that they still think they're regular level 9 Vlads.

Since I'll be playing LoL again real soon I was looking through the new characters since I took a break(last hero i remember was Jarvan or LeeSin). I was just wondering why Brand wasn't a popular pick from top teams in the qualifier. Seems like he has an amazing skillset considering its 4 nukes (1 sometimes 2 AoE). Closest comparison to him is Malzahar but he's forced to wait on a single target while Brand can use stun bonus for single target or go for an epic AoE combo.

Brand's damage is fucking retard. It's insanely huge. I think next Brand free week we'll see more of him played because he seems pretty good to me.

I see Brand all the time on EU streams. I have no idea why no one in NA uses him.

Because Maokai also has 4 nukes, but Maokai's nukes have more utility and he has tankier stats

WW is too strong at 500 elo. Easiest ganks in the world.

Malzahar has way more utility than Brand. 3 second AoE silence wrecks teamfights, never mind the suppression ult; that conditional single-target stun just doesn't compare at all.

I wouldn't call it way more utility, a 2 second stun on a 4 second cd (with CDR) is rather useful to have aswell.

It has all the weaknesses of a skillshot CC (namely it's unreliability), and it throws away the prime advantage of most skillshot CCs (range), because you have to get close enough to proc your passive before Qing in order to get the stun.
|
Brand doesn't really have to get close to get his passive on someone. E is his shortest ranged skill and still has 675 range. Taric's stun is shorter ranged than that (650). I'd agree that Malz's silence is still much better CC but I don't think your range argument makes sense Yango.
|
Well you might not always be able to choose exactly who you want to stun but if you can't hit a hero with your Q in a teamfight then your aim is abysmal and you will likely miss the entire enemy team with malzahar silence+pool anyway. And needing to have the enemies ablaze is hardly a problem. Thats like saying malz ult in 1v1 is bad if you don't cast pool under them first (infact thats harder to get right than to set someone ablaze).
|
Recent studies have shown that due to the introduction of Tenacity. Burst Damage has become the most reliable CC.

Malzahar is easier to play than Brand. Brand has all these crazy conditionals; Malzahar just drops QWE on the enemy team and then kills someone with R. It's pretty easy to be terrible with both champions, but Brand's capabilities have a lower floor than Malzahar's.

In 5s setting, Brand is definitely up there with Swain. People are starting to notice how ridiculous Swain is. It's more intricate than your average champion's kit. Brand is pretty much the same situation. Give it a month or two, have someone like Salce or jiji who excel at casters play him, then we welcome the next FotM.
