EDIT: Also, the current metagame is support+ranged carry in duo lane. Why pick tristana and go mid just to counter 1 champion? | ||

It's great once you have IE, but rushing an Executioner's calling is horrible. And I don't think a Vlad will be intimidated by a ranged DPS with Exec after level 9. He might not be able to play as aggressively, but he should still be able to farm freely. | ||

This is how I would reallly counter-pick a Vladimir. From my understanding, Executioner's Calling does not prevent Vlad's life gain. It also does not work against spellvamp. Most range carried would rather be rushing their first BF Sword into IE/BT/BC anyway. The item is also an active which doesn't apply to your auto-attacks but is instead a targetted ability. I might be wrong here though. Tristana's advantage is that she is one of the few actual hard carries in the game. So itemising EC puts you behind. Picking her to go against Vlad to try and shut him down doesn't work because she's late-game orientated as well. If you really want to shut Vlad down hard, you want a lane bully. Rumble and Brand are both excellent at doing this. I'm surprised I don't see them as often given how hard they can win lanes. | ||

Tldr; Just bully him early game where he's weak before he gets super strong and if you can make him blow summoners and if he's greedy kill him. Tristana also isn't bad at doing this cause of her healing reduction you'd be surprised at how much dmg you can do popping your E and rocket jump on him early game. | ||

EC will not prevent spellvamp which is the main reason Vlad is so annoying (such being able to offensively pool you). EC's active also means you have to get close to the enemy team and a Range Carry wants to be kiting around the fight right-clicking people. That's where their power comes from. This is especially true of Tristana. Vlad is normally top/mid lane not bottom so if you have a support you're probably bot lane so there's no point getting EC just to win lane. If you have a support, you also don't need Wriggles since they should be baby-sitting you and you should get buying HPots. Since you're ranged you also shouldn't be taking too much harass. Delaying your BF items is generally not great for an AD Carry since you scale with damage items more than anything else. Once you have damage items, Red should die really fast anyway, and there's always your jungler to smite it at the start for you too. You can also kite Red to reduce the number of times it hits you. | ||
