Yes and if you can get blue all the time maxing W is fine. However, often you get these zileans who don't take blue AND max W, and run oom constantly
Edit: while rewind is arguably the better skill to max, maxing E has its advantages too. A 5.5 second slow is ridiculous

why do people rarely take tear on zil? i don't play much zil but it seems like he spam skill a lot and uses a ton of mana, but no one ever says to get tear on him.
edit: okay i building it into philo stone, probably bob is just fail which is why i always see his amumu get stomped on

Because catalyst is more important and then you want to get AP to be effective midgame. I do sometimes take tear instead of cata for duo laning when playing with my RL friends, so i'm not afraid of being punished for that (because my enemies will usually have lower Elo than me  ).

No, you don't need health if you have enough mana and fast enough fingers. I prefer to go tear into triple d-ring for the hp/regen

I can't think of any caster that I would go tear first over cata.
Cata is just better at early levels, and the only advantage of earlier Tear is early Tear stacks, which don't really become a big deal until you have AA staff--which is not cost-effective without a Cata-based mana item anyway.

I get tear first on Veigar sometimes. Mostly it;'s DFG first though. Never Catalyst until I need a BV, which usually come after DFG/hat/Void staff.

Uhhh but hsgg's XZ isn't too awesome, he does VERY poorly for his skill level.
Who knows, HSGG might even win 1v1 xin vs xin with Bob, but that would be only because of being better player overall. The fact is that his XZ play is far from optimal - unlike Bob's.
Also it's weird that two of you are underrating a player because random unknown people overrate him - according to you, because i actually never saw someone claim Bob to be the most skilled player or anything like that.
