He needs to get to his "Nasus is going to cripple me in the span of 1 wither" status ASAP so that he can give his team total map control.
He's not a full-on tank. He's not aiming to be focus fired, so don't play him with the intent of running into 5 people with their ults still up that early into the game.
By the time you reach sunfire sheen and boots 2 its well past the phase that people are roaming around. And definitely in the phase you need to start intitating for your team. Also, I prefer CDR boots over mercs and they definitely increase your damage a lot.
Even given that, you'd still not initate as Nasus without some serious cc to back you up. You're not going to live much longer just because you got Randuins instead of Sunfire cape. The faster their guys reach their danger zone or die, the less damage you take on a champ like Nasus who has basically no interrupts anyways.
And you can reach sunfire cape + sheen a lot faster than you give credit for.
I'd take Trinity Force over Sheen + Sunfire any time for Nasus. Assuming you farm well the extra survivability isn't that essential so early and Trinity lets you wreck early. After that you can build tanky and from my experience it works really well.
A fast triforce? hmm never tried it. It probably works but I feel uncomfortable with that against a team with any decent burst; you'd probably have to drop the exhaust on the AP carry to lessen the blow?
I like sunfire cape. It's very comfortable on Nasus because it gives just enough armor and HP to make towers a nonfactor and if you're trying to position yourself so that your ult hits several targets in teamfights, your sunfire will be outputting a lot more overall damage than triforce.
Going mid as nasus is really not good since most mid laners own you so hard and you can't even afford to fight back because the lane is so short. AFK farming is EXACTLY what nasus wants.
No, the point of going mid is exactly so that they can't harass you as badly as if you were to go top.
It's way harder top because the long lane gives more space to zone you. Ranged champ can just repeatedly go in and out of brushes to take away minion aggro. They can't autoattack you with impunity when you're laning mid.

Well if you're worried about an AP carry, Sunfire + Sheen really doesn't give you much extra vs that. Against DPS you have Wither, and the movement speed and the DPS bonus and the slow etc. help a lot with killing. It's not good if you don't get it quickly, but if you can get a 20min Trinity Force it'll be before anything scary can kill you too quickly, and then you can just go with a double negatron + chainmail kind of thing if you really need survivability asap.
Yea, I haven't watched too much of the guy, but he is pretty hilarious and even more so when you realise how many people don't know they're being trolled.
Would be funny to see some LoL videos by him though.

It's kinda like an extra 200 or something HP and armor to help soften the follow-up damage after the magical burst, it's an appreciable difference but I am not saying fast triforce doesn't work better, since I never tried it.
Sunfire also happens to be a very strong item the earlier you get it since the damage will always be a flat 40DPS. I'll eventually get triforce anyways but I don't like missing on the sunfire-is-OP timing.
Same reason I like a fast sunfire on Shen and Malphite; it's really OP when the solos are around level 12 and the sidelane/jungle are hovering level 10.
Well I used to rush Sunfire way back when I played Nasus before the sunfire nerf(Standard build was Triforce + 4x sunfire), but I've noticed that rushing triforce on him actually feels really overpowered. =P You could give it a try I guess, Sunfires might let you farm better although a Triforce'd Q kills any minion from full anyway.

i agree, weeks when he's free are my favorites, especially because at my level it doesn't matter if someone on the other team gets him, they'll play horribly.
