IMO Rammus, Udyr, Warwick, and Amumu all slot better or worse than one another into different kinds of teams. You can't really just say "we need a jungler--pick Warwick" and be good to go.

It's not about Malph's farm as much as shutting down the opposing player's farm - if they're a ranged carry or a mage usually Malph can do enough damage to completely zone them out or kill them. Considering LoL pretty much revolves around 1) ranged carry farms 2) ??? 3) PROFIT right now, it can hurt another team hard.
That being said, if you have someone bulky against him in a lane that can keep their health up - like Cho'Gath/Gragas/Morde or something - it pretty much completely counterpicks him since the fact that Malph is a waste of farm hurts your team then.

He's actually a good laner lol. He's even a strong solo lane. People just put him in the jungle because he is the "best" overall jungler (obviously some team comps would rather have amumu etc..). And he's good in teamfights. It's fairly hard to get him off of your carry and heals for a ton with q + ulti so if he buils tanky he can wack at your carry forever.

he so is not a good laner, lol. wtf are u talking about. he is weak as hell and doesn't have ranged. he's subject to get ganked and has no escape mechanism. he is "alright" vs most champions but certain ones u aren't going to be able to do anything u won't even be able to get last hits until the creeps push up to your tower
and there is nothing outstanding about him in teamfights sure he "isn't bad" in any way, but that's the case for almost all the champions. was never saying he was bad in teamfights just that he isn't at all overpowered there.

Good laner as in he can win lanes and has a way of shrugging off harassment, something that a lot of champions do not. You obviously never played with someone brave enough to take shit from his whole team for going lane wick, like wazzabi.

Warwick isnt the best jungler (although its arguable, lets say there is no BEST jungler) or the fastest jungler (rammus, udyr, nunu clear most camps faster than him) but he is DEFINITELY the SAFEST jungler by miles and miles. Warwick can clear every creep camp while maintaining near full hp and without wasting a lot of money on potions. No other jungler can do that. This makes up for the fact that he has no escapes because he can engage lower hp junglers and win fairly easily as Warwick is very strong against tanks and in small scuffle scenerios (2 or less enemy champions)
I think this is a preemptive nerf before releasing magma chamber where champions that are usually very strong in small battle scenerios are not running too rampantly over ones that aren't.
Also as far as laning is concerned, warwick could lane but its easier for him to get gold by jungling and it's so safe there is really no downside to jungling instead of laning. So I'd agree (painfully) with Hazmat.
I'm about 90% sure they're just going to tone down his passive and possibly base damage so he goes through the jungler slower but is still pretty safe all things considered.
I have something I've been wondering if people would think about discussing: runes that give you the most bang for your buck, as far as cross-hero usage goes. I understand that there is a lot of personal preference involved depending on play-style, but I figure there must be a few runes that are widely agreed upon to be useful for many different heroes. (ArPen for ranged AD carries, imo; etc)
For example, you're just hitting level 20 where you can acquire Tier 3 runes worth keeping, what should you buy? Naturally, you'd find someone who has refined the art of runes for a specific character and buy those. But that's a pretty decent chunk of IP for one hero worth of runes, what if they're very specific for that champion and have very little crossover value to other champions?
Ex: You get rune X to better hero A's jungling capabilities, but rune X isn't even close to optimal for Champion B, C, D or E.
mp5/lvl yellows. Armor pen or magic pen reds, hp quints, mr/lvl blues is my basic page. Then I have armor yellows for those faggots without mana on another page.
The runes which are will be used the most are: Red: Armor Penetration, Magic Penetration Yellow: mp5/level, Flat Armor Blue: mp5/level, mr/level, CDR Quints: Health, Move Speed, Armor Penetration
CDR isn't all that great, but it's at least decent on any champion. Move Speed is a preference that certain players like to have. Both are kinda pricey though.
Don't forget the Attack Speed reds for certain junglers. A nice rune tier list can be found here.
I like the MS quints, but if you want to play 3v3 at a competitive level, HP quints are the better generic quints if you're constrained by IP and can only buy one set.
