With hexdrinker, it's 1800 or bust. I mean, you're talking about delaying the build by Brutalizer and 1 d-blade AND creating a weak point in my build where I'm used to having 2 dblades and instead having a null mantle and a longsword. I mean maybe this is where the difference in the level we're playing at is coming in, but when I play vs. a caster, I have to back at level 6 or 7 to spend my first ~1K on 2 d-blades, a ward and hp pots to be able to keep up on CS and lane control. This is how it happens pretty much every single game I play vs. a competent player top. Continuing the SC analogy, perhaps you can just rush mutas and get them out to deny scouting, but the people I'm playing against scout before my lair's even up so I gotta get them zerglings out. | ||

People are hoping that Doran's become unique, to prevent stacking. Wonder if people would still stack Doran's for the HP, just the different kinds. Maybe a Blade and then a Shield if you take mid, etc. | ||

What is that pickax going to do for you exactly? It'll help you last hit slightly since you're doing more damage, although it's almost useless if you're an awesome last hitter. I won't discard it and say it's completely useless, but it's certainly not awesome. If there's a fight at dragon you'll do a bit more damage, but you'll also be easy to burst down and take out of the fight. The problem lies in that you don't have any way to regain health. Anytime you're harassed in lane you need some means of regaining that health. Doran items grant lifesteal. It's a very measly percentage, but it allows you to regain some of that burst you just took as well as the +120 health that makes you less squish in the first place. The shield sounds awesome on paper, but realistically with no lifesteal once you're below that 30% for it to activate you'll have to go back and heal. The shield would be far superior if it could achieve multiple activations to give you more staying power. I just don't see that as a possibility with it activating once you're about to die and you have 1 dblade, boots, and this hexdrinker your vamp isn't going to be powerful enough to keep you in lane. You will be dived and you will die. All of this is theorycrafting of course. If it turns out as powerful as you think it will be I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong, but I just can't see that happening. Missed the entire conversation while I was typing :cry: | ||

Armor 100% does not scale with your shield. The shield it grants ONLY blocks magic damage, meaning that they can play around it by bursting you with the magic shit early and then just going physical for those 4 seconds of your shield. Again, it's only useful vs. AP insta-gibbers. The HP boost from it is considerably less reliable than what d-items give. pretty much. I tell him to get doran's and a pot, because he has absolutely no chance versus any competent midlaner, but he just won't listen. I tell him to buy armor, because that yi keeps raping him endgame, but he just won't listen. The worst part is that his build kind of works, in that it gives him tons of kills, but i'm not going to give him that. Be as polite or impolite as you wish, i'll probably refer him to the most offensive post you can give me. | ||
