Team Liquid has just announced that they are picking up the Spanish team El NeXo.
Today's announcement marks a new chapter in our Heroes of the Storm adventure. I'm excited to finally share that we have picked up the all-Spanish team formerly known as El NeXo. The team consists of five talented players in Blackscorp, GranPkt, FalcoN, LucifroN, and VortiX. I am honored to welcome them to Liquid.
...
For those who have not been following the developments in Heroes of the Storm, a short recap might be useful. After BlizzCon, we would have liked to continue with the team we had. Unfortunately, several members of the group wanted to play elsewhere and with new teammates. We decided that the discontinuation of the roster that represented us at BlizzCon was the best option for everyone involved. Today, we are back in the game.
Thanks to all our fans that continue to support us and we hope that everyone will join us in welcoming our new team.
- Victor "Liquid`Nazgul" Goossens
When I lost motivation in Starcraft 2 I thought I would no longer be able to have the same passion for competing in a game again but Heroes of the Storm definitely brought back the competitive VortiX that I was few years ago. I started to play with 4 other Spanish players that had the same competitive attitude and we quickly started to win tournaments. We've recently had to make some changes and ended up with the group you see today. The attitude and the competitiveness in the group is awesome and we set ourselves the goal to be one of the very best teams in the world.
When we first heard that Team Liquid had interest in our team we were extremely excited. Given our Starcraft past they are one of the organisations that we respect the most. We know how hard and how well they work and we're really happy to be a part of it. We'll make sure to work as hard as we can to fulfill the expectations and stay at the very top of Heroes.
Liquid for me was always known to pick up solid rosters / players. This Deal feels pretty much rushed in order to get into the HotS scene with a Team that showed some promise. They had success on this way (Hi Taeja) before but only time will tell if El NeXo can show the same performance as Teaja does.
In the End i just hope, that Liquid stays a team, known for solid teams and a roster swapping machine like other E-Sports Teams.
Last I heard he was transitioned from player to coach, but he's currently not listed on either of C9's rosters. Not sure what his plans are, I believe I saw him playing on a different team a few weeks ago even.
I should note that C9 has a bunch of Heroes players who don't compete so Sheth wouldn't be the first one.
Yeah he signed with C9 because the old TL heroes squad disbanded
Shouldn't he say bye bye to Liquid first and perhaps hear (publicly) s.t. from Nazgul on the matter? It's so weird for a Liquid player to disappear so silently from the team.
Wow... Liquid`Lucifron and Liquid`Vortix... how cool would it be if LotV brought these two back to playing Starcraft while under the Liquid tag already because of this... what a dream team!
Grats to everyone. My first thought was of course 'what about Sheth?' but now that I see who these people are it does seem like an appropriate Liquid pickup.
Been a veeeeeery long time since I've posted, just been lurking on streams, etc. But this news is enough to bring me out of retirement, this is SICK. Always liked Lucifron and Vortix, awesome to see them on TL for my new favorite game

My brother and I are really close and love to game together, so I always kinda had a soft spot in my heart for Vortix and Luci back in SC2. Awesome to see them picked up by TL, and even better that it's in a game where they can play together, instead of knocking each other out of brackets! I hope both the players and the organization find this to be a good arrangement.
Maaaaaan Vortix and Lucifron !!!! I'm so happy we will see them play on HOTS! Even if on SC2 it was so good :'(! YOU TRAITORS! But its ok Heroes is awesome too .
I thought Sheth literally left EG to come stay loyal to TL and now he doesn't have a team anymore?? I seriously hope this is mutual and he didn't just get screwed out of a spot? Its not like he can just jump into a spanish speaking (i can only assume) team. Really disappointed to see this.... Not only is Sheth not on the team but it's not even a predominantly english speaking team... for the ONLY blizz game that it's best players almost all come from NA and the scene is actually mostly coming out of NA right now. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Vortix and Lucifron fan from sc2.
Would definitely appreciate some clarification on this.
Looks like I'm gonna haveta just root for Tempo Storm, EG, and Cloud9. I already root for Cloud9 in Smash Bros. after Liquid's awful team curse pickup which has almost no top players on it, on top of two really amazing and cool former pro's who no longer have nearly what it takes anymore. And HungryBox's Puff has been almost completely made to look impossible to ever win vs a top Fox ever again so is he even in the top 5 anymore? I think Leffen clearly took his spot. Sry didn't mean to go so off topic. But that pick up was already questionable IMO and now this is really disappointing to see.

This. Exactly this. And you can't tell me they aren't a predominantly spanish speaking team when their team name is literally El Nexo -_____-
I'm also severely disappointed to not see Liquid just BUILD a team starting with a core few players and then finding a few more solid players (Sheth? Anyone connected to Liquid who has switched from sc2? Can't tell me there's not 1 atm) and mixing it up until it's an all around great team like most other teams have started. I was very hopeful to see Team Liquid really compete at the top level in this game. And I was hoping it would be more NA based but I guess TL is in fact a EU based team isn't it?? I guess I was just hoping to see Liquid for this game have more NA representation since TL's sc2 team has I think literally 0 for a long time now.
Now, for the last two comments, Nazgul is the most appropiate to answer your questions, but i wan't to sahre some of my opinions.
First of all
I'm also severely disappointed to not see Liquid just BUILD a team starting with a core few players and then finding a few more solid players
If I understand correctly, that was exactly the idea behind the Liquid BlizzCon thing, but at the end it didn't work out. Then all of them wen't to C9, and Seth was left alone really, until he finally too, willingly, joined Cloud 9. TL didn't screw him at all.
Part of me has the impression that not a lot of you know who team "El Nexo" are. Yeah, they are spanish, anything wrong with that? Apart from that, they are arguably the best european team at the moment.
It's hard to measure the exact skill between NA and EU, since they don't usually play togheter, and they have very different metas, some think NA is better, some EU. And while I'd still put Tempo Storm or Complexity as the top teams right now, El Nexo is right besides them.
There isn't as much publicity about the EU scene right now, but I invite you all to watch their games closely.

Sheth left Liquid for C9. This is part of the reason why the original TL Heroes squad disbanded because dunktrain, biceps, caffeine, and Sheth went to C9. So, Liquid didn't abandon Sheth. More like Sheth left Liquid.

Hey. So I was a part of C9Vortex for a while. I split off from that team due to uh.. differences. Basically now I'm getting ready to go to EMT school in my area. I've had offers for other teams to play Heroes for them, but right now I want to basically cast and get ready for that school. Through pretty much all of Vortex and now, I still always talk with Victor and friends from TL, so Victor was kind enough to say that if I wanted I could come back and be on Liquid again. So, now even though I'm not a player for their Heroes team, I will hopefully be casting and commentating heroes for Liquid. Someone also took Liquidsheth on twitter while I was away, so I'll be LiquidShethSC2 on twitter now ^^; So yea.. that's what about me : D
Liquid`LucifroN + Liquid`VortiX sound's really cool, especially seeing them play together in a team game (expecting dual lanes every game). Only disappointment is seeing Liquid picking up an HOTS team before a new Dota one :/
BTW, what pro tournament are running in the hots scene right now?

Good to hear you're doing fine for yourself. I did notice you playing for other non-C9 teams a while back, I guess I'm not surprised there were issues with C9 given they let you do that. Glad to hear you'll be getting into some casting / commentating too.

They kinda were, but it didn't work out except at the beginning, as competition catched up, Anyways, blackscorp and falcon are pretty darn good players to boot.
For people who say "rushed" decision, please el nexo is by far the most dominant heroes team in EU long time ago.Totally deserved, the best choice for tl.

Yay Sheth always a part of the Liquid family! Still my favorite zerg

They were the top team in Europe for a few weeks, so I would say they have actual skill. Europe seems more in flux than NA though where it's basically BarrelBoys (now Complexity) and TempoStorm then everyone else.
I have been watching Liquid play in the TakeTV tournament and Lucifron seems like the weakest link. Always getting caught out and dying. Hopefully, he can get familiar with the game and improve.
Some people said El Nexo was the best team in Europe. Judging from their play in the TakeTV tournament they have a long way to improve. The team's Abathur play is second tier. They are a bit weak in 5 v 5 engagements. They seem to fall behind in the early game a lot.
Man, I just wish Liquid gets a break and pick up a good squad. Hopefully, this team improves and puts in the practice. I see potential, but they have a long way to go to compete with the top squads.
It's kind of funny how critical people are, I guess we're headed into 'legit' eSports territory where everyone is an expert and knows exactly why players / teams are scrubs.
Although, I did notice that Complexity isn't getting any credit for wins from when they were still Barrel Boys.
I suspect El Nexo may have the same problem when the site switches them to HoTS and the flaming will begin once again...
It's even more funny reading people who watch one tournament and completely base their judgement out of it. If you did not watch EU, you should just shut the hell up because most players in there had been pretty much top notch, and on Europe, there are no completely dominant team, and the only ones who truly dominated for sometime were:
we are not prepared (which had Falcon and Blackscorp) el nexo.
There are other good teams like 3DMAX (i guess they are now tomorrow big), FNATIC and SK, but none of them achieved the large undefeated lapse of time or final tournament wins on a row.

I'm watching TL in the Zotac Monthly final and they are getting their butt kicked. It seems everytime I tune into their matches Lucifron gives up first blood, gets out of position, and misses his skill shots. His stitches play is less to be desired.
I saw the ranking posted and TL/El NeXo was first. Maybe they are on a mini slump, but they haven't been playing well since they joined Liquid. People say Liquid is the best team in the world. Well, they haven't been playing like it from the games I have seen them play.
TL makes a comeback in the second game. They had the lead, then lost the lead after Vortix got caught out by himself. Through sheer superior positioning, Liquid manages to overcome the throws and win the second game. It's 1-1 against TTB.
I've noticed that in HotS it's very hard to tell how well a team/player is performing. Generally the winning team looks amazing and, conversely, the players on the losing team look like they're making huge mistakes all the time.
I think Liquid is the strongest team in Europe right now. They have the best game sense and regularly make big comebacks. I don't think any team has close to 50% winrate against them in scrims. Couple that with the fact that they have VortiX and LucifroN and it's pretty easy to see that picking them up was a great move by TL.

That's true, the pro-scene tends to hold on to leads and ride advantages out better. Losing teams are also a lot more cautious, ie they avoid engaging if down a talent even if it means forfeiting a map objective. So a lot of times in the pro-scene if you have an early disadvantage you end up looking like you have no idea how to play the game, when they're really looking for an opportunity to come back.
Also about El Nexo, honestly I'm surprised they're ranked top because they were in a slump about a month ago when We Are Not Prepared was the new hotness, but apparently the two teams merged. So I would put assume any glaring problems now are from playing out of the slump and integrating the new players. I mean Acer has looked absolutely terrible and other times completely dominant depending on which roster they field (due to different leagues having different rules about changing players).
El NeXo has been one of my favorite teams in HotS for quite some time now. And TL has always been my favorite gaming community altogether. Great news! :D
They are now 29th in the HotS world rankings. after joining Liquid they fell 29 spots from first. Not a good way to start their careers on a new team. Hopefully, Liquid didn't get a team that is a 1 hit wonder.
