It's so rare when people are able to peel / protect their backline. I feel most warrior players just think their role is to hold the frontline, and dive in when there's an opportunity.
I was playing with a new friend on voicechat the other day, and I was playing muradin. He was vocally surprised when I jumped backwards in a fight to stun/reverb an illidan who had jumped on our li-ming. In turn, I was surprised he didn't expect these kinds of things from a main tank.

It's especially awful when you have Thrall Zera on the opposite team. These guys will actually be good on dive teams or agressive teams, but if they have to defend, they'll actually not realize they have to change their playstyle. I'm glad I'm not the only one. ;-)

To be fair, having that map/positional awereness is the hardest part of the game, especially as 90% of Assassins normally just go #yolo and thus it's also hard to train ... or restrain to not just go #yolo as a warrior. :D I mean it sucks to restrain yourself to do the team friendly stuff when most DD (less in hl, but still alot of sins) just screan "F*** U, you'll make it up for me" all game long.
It's a blessing to find such a warrior as a positional aware DD (or find a good DD as a tank) though, fully agreed !

people need to fucking understand that Rehgar isn't a priority pick anymore
and when they pick him, they could at least take fucking cleanse once in a while
|
"Hey let's play hero league... haven't played in a while."
Draft begins, we get first pick... Malfurion.
Uh okay, at least we have a healer!
Opponents insta-pick Xul and Li-Ming.
Our next pick is... Lt. Morales.
And to make matters worse, neither healer stayed with our team. And this is why I don't play HL.
|
I know I'm in for a fun game when our last pick selects Nazeebo at beginning of draft and says "GUYS I'M BEST NAZEEBO, PLEASE LET ME BE NAZEEBO I CAN'T PLAY ANYONE ELSE".
Opponent first picks Sonya and gets Lt. Morales and ETC.
Me: Dude...you're gonna get fucked.
No one picks support, I choose Uther.
Stays bottom lane of Tomb all game. Proceed to get dominated.
Nazeebo: "Fucking healer is useless, learn to heal. Their healer has triple your heal score"
And of course as we lose, he says "check stats scrubs, I tried to carry" Of course you have all the fucking highest stats. Deaths too.
God I hate people.

Me too, though I didn't need heroes to learn that. I just needed to read political news
Queue'd up with a friend who was in leaver's queue due to a bad internet connection. It was quite possibly the most vitriolic atmosphere I've ever encountered. It was also a situation where my MMR was 500 over everyone else on the team---- it was really painful to hear their advice to each other & eventual blaming of each other.
At the end of the game, one of them even blamed me for having highest damage on the team. This is a new one to me in terms of things to be blaming me for. I'm not sure if he was upset that I wasn't laning enough or if he was upset that the enemy falstad outdamaged me by 4k. [Or if he was just..uh...jealous?]

Now that you mention it... ye
I never noticed before cause beeing the "Michael Oher" is kinda my favorite job. Specially with Morales as supp, i yell in my head: "Leave my healbot alone you scrub!!" and CC them, which is usally the cue for my DDs to delete someone

You can't imagine how happy I am to have fellow teamliquid's forum members agree on that. Since I noticed it I cannot let the main warrior role to another player (except my buddy). And people don't understand when you're the offensive team (3 or 4 front) and when you're not. Today again, me solo front as ETC, the healer picks Morales, vs 3 front heroes (Diablo Rehgar and a melee assassin).
On another note, Blizzard should add a rule that you cannot be matched in the same team as people you just reported/muted. We play with a flaming Jaina who goes after our distracter Valla. Valla wasn't good at all but you didn't have to flame. Long story short, in the end all 3 of our teammates flame, insult and waste time typing. I mute / report them early on. We lose, of course. Next game we get 2 of these 3 idiots in the draft. And of course we lose. What's the point in reporting people if this simple rule isn't even applied ? We all witnessed drafts where people start insulting each other from the very start. This shouldn't happen, ever. It's simple to fix. At least for a couple of games. If I play with them tomorrow, I'll probably won't even remember about this and it'll go smoothly.
After the game we waited 2 minutes to be sure we wouldn't play with them again. And I told them we would, so that they wouldn't do the same. ^^ In the end, we win the last game, which was by far my worst game of the day.

I do see where you are coming from, but I do not agree. This would add an added dimension to the game, since who you report for whatever reason would potentially affect the outcome of your next game. Seems easier to just go get a cup of coffee, come back, and then queue up after the rager has already gotten into his next game.
Speaking of this, though, the player base is definitely small enough that I play with people I reported weeks ago on a regular basis. I wonder sometimes whether this is a sign of heroes' overall health or mine (since I play too much)

Yeah there seems to be a special crowd of people that do the following:
Only go bottom lane 24/7 Avoid every teamfight Get killed repeatedly by enemy team rotations Actually suck badly at pushing said bottom lane Blames the team for everything Points to their siege damage as their reason for being awesome
I had a Hammer once who did all of the above. Went 0/14 with 2k hero damage.
Called us scrubs when asked to join in teamfights because she was a specialist and they only do buildings. Right.
They're the one group of people I'd almost play Nazeebo with just to Zombie Wall them for punishment.

How to play Illidan at 3.3k: (Lineups: Illidan+Tassadar+Jaina+Muradin+Abathur vs Falstad+Sonya+Brightwing+Li-Ming+Arthas) 1) Perform a 4man+aba gank and get a kill. 2) I waste my clone as it's about to die to jump over wall and do some more dmg to the 40% Falstad 3) During our gank, two temples spawned. 4) Illidan decides it's a great idea to jump over the wall to go for the Falstad that is now at ~20%. 5) Illidan proceeds to die almost instantly. 6) This chain of events leads us to losing the game soon after as we're not able to contest the temples properly w/o Illidan and my clone on cooldown.
Also had a 3.8k ETC who figured after losing 3 x 5v5 teamfights in a row, it's a good idea to take another by "baiting bot shrine". I reminded him nicely that we have a bruiser camp pushing top and we'll lose our fort if it goes undefended so we should just def it and take top shrine instead. No, ETC says all bot and gank. Sigh, can't help but go full retard then. We proceed to lose 3 players in the teamfight, fort is lost to top bruisers for completely free, and they get DK.
Similar stuff all day long in almost every single match. :|

I've had five games in a row with a really stupid motherfucker on my team snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I get this every game I lose.
High elo games are literally all about who can carry the biggest potato as well as who's potato does the least retarded shit.
My biggest advice for anyone in the 2400-3000 MMR range is to memorize the top 200 list for HL and if u ever get in a game with them....just stfu and do whatever they tell you to do.
This games not mechanically challenging at all....which means the only way people are 500-1000 MMR above you is because of their shotcalling ability/draft knowledge.

I kind of hate that I go into QM with heroes like arthas or nova and it's an autoloss, but I go in with zeratul and it's an autowin. It's like SA Zeratul is a QM god or something.

I confirm. When Nova was bursty Nova, every QM was auto win because your gank/ambush potential is so high and people don't see the shimmer. Even now Nova is auto win, but not in the same 40 takedowns per game way. That's why they have to change Zeratul BTW.

I don't feel that way at all.
At about 2,8k QM can be surprisingly coordinated at times. Sure there are lots of potatoes/ ppl who just do their thing but still
