Well rounded characters that can fill in holes as necessary. You want ganking ability, good waveclear, and the ability to do merc camps in some circumstances.

Yea I always try to fill roles as needed when Im one of the last to pick. Its worse when I pick first. Will start telling the team to prepick and see if that helps.

Once again an Arthas that wants to solo all the forts and leave the team to play 4v5. And I still managed over twice his siege damage (was playing Sylvanas though). Sigh. What is it with Arthas players and yoloing forts?

Arthas is one of the most common picks from Russians. Think of that what you will...

That is just not true Heroes like Muradin, Sonya, Anub can be incredible playmakers and "Carrys". Sometimes more so than Assassins Also Uther ^^:
Had a game last night where nobody wanted to pick tank or supp, so i picked uther the Tanking Supp with Amp Healing on lvl 4 Fun times! I would qualify that as Carry as well

Ok this week is fucked. Yesterday I lose my 2 HL games because people disconnect early dunno why. Today I get disconnected in lobby (dunno why) and lose 2 ranks at once from it.
Really discouraging I should be 3 today I'm 6...

Decide to try Illidan for the first time, and not wanting to bother HL with me playing a new hero I decide to do a QM with him. End up getting:
Tassadar Jaina Zeratul Illidan Zagara
vs
Diablo Tyrande Rehgar Zeratul Nova
You can guess how that went. My hatred for solo QM Tassadars grows deeper. Although, not having a tank wasn't helping either. Stuff like this makes me want to stick to HL.
I know Tassadar himself is fine. With a healer next to him he can be downright amazing. But solo QM vs a true healer? Can people not?
|
Probably all the vision from zagara let Tass know exactly when to press oracle either netting a kill on nova+zera or making them run. You attacking Tyrande and dodging her stun makes her panic and bunch up with rehgar making for an easy VP on both that you dodge skillfully by flipping to the slow totem. As diablo has no escape or defense he blows up instantly. Zera comes back but jaina has frost armor and she instantly roots him making him wormhole back exactly into your arms as you used meta to jump over the wall. Nova tries to get you but with quick reflexes you negate almost all her damage with e(ofc you took the spell damage mitigation talent). Rhegar tries to save them but forcewall blocks him. After you kill nova+zera(that q to evade zeras bomb was clutch) you expertly chase rehgar by stutter stepping masterfully. Not bad for a first game.

seeing cloaked heroes on creep is harder then usual. Anyway I think Thezzy is cursed, everytime solo Tassadar in QM. New Matchmaking will sadly reduce the amount of non standard comps in QM and will try to get 1 of each role. Dislike this a bit, I really love the random 4 ranged assassins + Tassadar vs 4 tanks + Malf.
|
I didn't read/hear that they were going for more standard comps in QM, but rather, more mirror comps (i.e. same roles on both sides). When did they mention anything about specific compositions?

I'd be absolutely fine with a solo Tassadar, if the enemy team didn't get a healer. Gets worse when the enemy team gets a tank as well and you don't.
And yeah, out of my more recent QM games, quite a few had solo QM Tassadar in it (4 of the 12 recent losses was with a solo Tass according to Hotslogs). Not all were losses though, but only two were a victory against the enemy team having a healer.
I guess it's just something that really irks me because the player going solo QM Tassadar KNOWS he is making it very likely the enemy team gets a true healer whilst denying his own team one. If he wants to play Tassadar why not go HL or play with a friend that plays a healer. I love playing Kerrigan myself but rarely if ever play her solo in QM because she needs support to shine. I suppose trying Illidan the first time in QM solo was a similarly bad call on my part though.
And mass assassin does beat mass tank but early game the reverse is true and some players insta-rage when that happens even though we all know tanks shine a bit more in the early game before assassins get all their damage and utility.

I think the opposite is true. Tanks start weak and get better as the levels come. Just imagine the task of killing a tank lategame and compare it to a lvl 1 fight at the watchtower. They go from +30% HP to +100% or more with incredible defensive options.
|
Depends on the individual tanks but the amount of raw burst can increase a lot more. Whilst some tanks such as Muradin/Johanna do get stronger survivability lategame, mass assassin just puts out so much damage in the late game that everything melts before they do, atleast such is my experience from the QM games where the enemy had multiple tanks vs us having multiple assassins.

Please don't!!
Like Tass, alot of Heroes are very compositional. Can't forbid them all

The problem is not "is this fun?" because it is if people know what they do. I love this randomness. But if you play with average people, they'll have no clue on what to do with their team, to the other team. You'll type to try to get people play on a specific strategy, but you'll have 2 russians and 1 french (we suck at english) so you can just hope there're more cows on the opposite team than on yours.

Would be fixed if Tassadar didn't count as a Support for the purpose of granting the other team a Support. If going Tassadar in solo QM no longer meant you grant the enemy team a healer, solo QM Tassadar would be completely fine.

Zeratul killed my kaeltas 10 times in a 15 min game. Impossible to play when nobody in the team see the shadow. I really dislike invisible heroes. Dont really see the point of having to look real hard for blur on the screen all game.

Ye have to be real careful with those squishy. But it's good training for the higher ranks when there is a gank squad around. Even standing right in front of your gate can be too far out when you get chain stunned

Another bad day of HL. I'm not worried because I get losses that are perfectly justified by allies behavior so it means I still have room to climb. But still, annoying day.
1st game > Battlefield of Eternity. Raynor goes 3-9, blaming the team. I think Uther ended 3-6. Everyone focuses the tanks. My teammates have terrible kill death ratio but not me (murky) and my friend (Stitches). My friend managed at least 4 or 5 hooks on Hammer but no one could kill him as our assassins sucked. Game lost.
2nd game > Cursed Hollow. We draft Leoric (me), Sonya (my friend), Nazeebo, Brightwing. Last pick is... wait for it... Lili! We beg him not to, we need Valla as the other team went for Raynor. But no he saw double support in a pro game. Because a rank 10 guy can definitely compare to a pro. BW was a fun guy, he often went first on tributes (1v4) although his role is to come last and TP at the last moment. Game Lost.
3rd game > Mines, I yolo go Nova even if it's not a good map for her because I'm really good with her and it seems everyone in HL think they're good assassins, and they're not. There're 2 guys in the other team that are rank 1 which scares me a bit I admit since Nova is a pretty predictable hero (appear, burst, hide, rinse and repeat). They draft the 3 best or almost best heroes on mines: Sylvanas, Tassadar and Leoric. Our Gazlowe goes AFK a lot. And I mean a lot. And we win (I never died meaning my 15% gathering power really hurt them). But still that Gazlowe got reported. Another crappy game... I don't even understand how we won it except our Jaina (very good BTW) and me were able to actually kill them, not leaving them at 5%.
Out of my last 10 hero league games I think only 2 games were normal games with competent people, no AFK and no bot player. Again I'm not worried because you can't do much when you play 4v5, but still it's frightening, when you think I'm rank 6, I can't imagine what's going on in lower ranks.
