Nova isn't that bad, lots of great heroes like tassadar and arthas easily reveal and stomp her.
She is a bit of a pub killer though because many players just don't know how to deal with a stealthed nova very well. Good players that pay attention often just kill her with a skillshot into a few attacks. I think they should nerf her and zeratul by making it easier to spot her when she's cloaked. The cloak mechanic is silly anyway I think, it basically forced you to tune your graphics in a way to spot it most easily and mostly let's nova stomp newer players in a way that's not fun for them. I'd just make nova and zeratul easier to spot in cloaked mode but untartetable by anything but skillshots like now, alternatively you can make them REALLY cloaked so you can't see it but nerf their burst significantly to make up for it. Some talents also need fixing though, hot shots on nova is too good and autopick material but the talents on almost all heroes need serious revamping. If they had data on heroes from higher level players I think you'd see one talent chosen 80+% of the time in each tier, most heroes just don't have much real choices. When you get silly choices like improve all your damage by ~7% or improve damage against walls by ~10% you get those.

This is very easy to say and impossible in practice. Good Novas will not let you do this.
She is weak to Tassadar, true (but who isn't really?), but apart from that she can 100-0 most assassins and supports in the midgame from stealth. No other hero in the game can do that, not even Zeratul.
I'm not saying she's utterly broken or anything, but I'm saying her playstyle needs to change, because she either 100-0s you or doesn't do anything. It's really all or nothing.

But how do you pop her out of stealth with lili ? She doesn't even have a skillshot for it. It is also almost impossible with zagara because of landing time from E and slow animation from Q and by the time you R her well she get's cced but you're already dead... Honestly I don't have a hard time seeing the blur like 99% of the time but that doesn't change much, if she's mounted good luck hitting her with skillshots if she's not brain dead and/or she will combo you anyway for an instant death. On big maps you can't always be with your team...

Some heroes are good counters to her and others are not. I think the problem is compounded by the fact that you are blindly matched with a team so you may not have a good counter to her. I don't think she's broken in the competitive scene but she is broken in the pub scene.

I didn't feel like Nova was that bad until I climbed the MMR ladder a bit and saw what a really good player could do with her. Played correctly, she's really hard to deal with and is a gigantic pain in the ass. I've been playing Tassadar as my main, so I'm usually fairly well-equipped to shut her down (get the lower CD on oracle so that you can consistently pop it going into fights or other dodgy areas and have a ready finger on your phase ability). Even so, she alters how I play in really annoying ways.
Speaking of Tassadar, I hit level 10 with him last night. It took 89 games. It is really stupid that the award for hitting level 10 is the opportunity to drop 10k gold on a fairly uninteresting skin. Blizzard needs to poach some better skin artists.

Yeah a good Nova will never let you see her coming and will never allow herself to even be attacked. She is the pinnacle of a positioning and map awareness hero. She just needs to be tuned down a bit so you actually have the ability to react to her. People will constantly harp on "look for the ripple" but sometimes she hangs out in the fog of war and takes bushes to her target and will just Overdrive Rewind her combo and there is literally nothing you can do if you're a squishy hero.
Although I've found Brightwing a good counter to her indirectly with his E to negate Hotshots and taking Anti-Magic powder at 4 to alleviate some Snipe damage. Also poly on her so she can't just walk away cloaked.

I agree and don't, they should just add more master skins for the heroes rather than replace someones work.

nova has one of the highest winrates at the moment and is picked in comp, surely she is not bad/easily counterable
i only find her ridiculous if there is no teamplay and i am playing a squishy assassin, but she is still strong overall

Hi guys,
Just got an invite, can anyone head me towards some kind of start guide? I've played dota for many years, but would like to hear how much of the dota aspect applies to this game. Stuff like hero roles, is it split up in support, carry or how does this work? Any link to some information i can read would be helpfull.

The best thing you could do is watch some vids from https://www.youtube.com/user/MFPallytime or just play tutorials and/or vs some bots to get an idea of objectives etc.

I wouldn't worry about hero roles and builds for the time being. Pick a hero that you like, spec for damage (generally and until you figure out better stuff to do), and play a bunch of games. I think you really have to play to get a feel for the game. Map awareness is everything in this game, and watching vids or reading guides isn't really going to help you that much.

To follow up on the discussion regarding Zeratul's first talent, I am really liking the increased life regen. Over the course of a game, you'll be averaging about 1% bonus health regen per second, which makes a really big difference. Late game, it will be closer to 1.5%. The result is that you can hang around fights a lot longer (mana becomes more of the limiting factor) and you won't have to B or moonwell as much, meaning that you can spend more time hunting.

GUSY GUYS GUYS DID I JUST GET AN INVITE OR DID THEY MAKE THE BNET APP INSTALL THE GAME FOR EVERYONE?????
Sorry, freaking out, I want to play this so badly....
|
I didn't get invite by email as usual, it just appeared in my bnet app. So i guess it's an invite, since my other friends can't see it in their bnet app!

"Your account is not licensed for this game."
This was the meanest troll ever.

As a spectator only, I can't understand what's the value of mercenary camps? You get the mobs to attack the enemy and waste their HP and time, but you have to waste your HP and time on killing them first. You get xp for killing them, but the enemy get xp when they kill them too. It does add some power to the push, but how is it critical enough for people to leave their lanes and not soak xp?

Assuming the game wasn't installed before via borrowing a friends account, you should check on the battle.net website to see if you have the alpha. If so try changing your account password, it seems to be a common issue/solution to those that have access but can't play.
