The old engine really showing itself... I read a reddit thread speculating that it's based on SC2's "resume from replay." I feel your pain. Tonight I had my first crash in a 25 minute game and I hopped back on only to have to wait for the game to catch up 20+ mins. Needless to say, I resumed into a game over screen. Hopefully they are prioritizing that, I can't imagine to flak Blizzard would receive should someone crash in a competitive match.
That issue aside, I'm enjoying it more now that I've had more games under my belt. I think Dota/LoL has more dynamic heroes, but the core mechanics of HotS is just so much more enjoyable. Learning to avoid the really boring/terrible heroes like Lili certainly helps.

I happened to log in to my battle.net account today and it listed HotS there among the games. I wondered why and clicked it and it said "Account Status: Technical Alpha". I launched the Bnet app and installed the game, but it says I'm not invited on the play button. I can't remember having the HotS entry before so a bit confused atm EDIT: Actually nevermind, it works now I think it's been an open beta for quite a while ?? Why do you say that? It's just been at blizzcon announced that closed beta will start in january....
I must have been mistaken that then. My bad

So in an interview Dustin said they are going to Nerf nova pretty badly so if anyone is going to buy her (probably not, it seems like everyone already has her) don't do it until they change her and see how she goes.
Now, he also implied that they are going to Nerf the heroes that are an "always pick" like tassadar, thycus and sadly arthas which I was planing to buy... So I think I'll just wait.
That resume from replay and reconnect thing.. I haven't had a problem with it, when I disconnect it reconnects me in a minute or two, not that much. But let's remember that when they announced the feature they say it was a very early build of it just so it exist and that it is in no way final.

Nova is the dumbest hero in the game, so I hope that they nerf her into the ground. As much as it pains me to say it, Tassadar needs a nerf, too. He's too good at everything.
|
I'd prefer they nerf the super powerful heroes. If they buffed everyone to their level team fights would be such a giant clusterfuck and over in half a second. And, honestly, seeing the same dozen or so heroes every competitive match makes for a boring game.
|
meh i dont even mind nova anymore, abathur is cancer though

Nerf and buff whoever you feel, just don't nerf the interesting or strong parts of a hero, or else they will all become boring and bland: see LoL.
If I were in charge, I would nerf Arthas damage, not the slows or heals, and nerf something like novas hp(even more) or movespeed or something.
|
I think so far Blizz has been leaning towards the smaller nerfs on just the op side of a hero.
I imagine they will remove envenom from Arthas, it's really the silliest part of the kit. Maybe tone down army of the dead by a ghoul or something.
No idea what they can do with Tychus tbh. Every part of that kit is op as shit.
|
Even without envenom, Arthas is really strong. I think the bigger issue with him is the lack of available counterpicks. There need to be some heroes and talents that can shut down heavy healers.
|
I would cry tears of joy if they made an RPG with that diverse a lineup of heroes. I'd probably be glued to the computer for months.

Make it so Odin works more like Avatar / Meta instead of just granting a free life bar. Right now Tychus can go pretty yolo around the map knowing if he's out of position just pop Odin.

I think nerfing Arthas by removal of Envenom and possibly lowering the tick damage of his E would be a good first step. Right now you can somewhat counter Arthas by taking Brightwing since it will remove his E stacking.

That and reduce the base damage on grenade and force him to talent into current damage. It hurts his waveclear and damage in a way that keeps the "fun" of knocking your enemies back.
Nerfing Nova is easy, remove Overdrive, cut a bit of damage off Snipe, and make Illusions not deal any damage.
As far as Arthas goes, you need to hit the damage on his passive. His real problem isn't that he does great sustained damage, that should be his strength, it's that he can also do huge burst on squishy targets through Frostmourne Hungers talents + Envenom. Removal of Envenom and a nerf to his passive make him a low burst but high sustained damage threat which is exactly where he needs to be.
Oh and for the record: thanks for all the friend adds, but my apartment internet has been down for almost a week now so I really can't play effectively

I think Blizzard should consider evaluating early game hero kill XP compared to creep XP. A few people I know who don't know Heroes had a complaint that it seemed like ratting and team fight avoidance was too strong pre-10. They highlighted the Fnatic vs Snowflake matches where Fnatic was picking up kills but were sacrificing a lane of XP to do it. And that put them behind. I can't say I disagree. Pre-10 kills feel almost worthless and barely worth my time. Assuming you didn't get a free zero damage gank it takes longer to walk back behind a gate, B, regen hp/mana and get back to the lane than it takes to just die and get back to the lane with the early game rez timers.

I'm a scrub but playing Sonya and skilling Whirlwind let me kill the ghouls pretty fast with a well-placed whirlwind, and I don't remember having an issue with Arthas healing too much in these games, couldn't Tassadar or some other AoE guy do that better?

Well I don't think ganking/laning is the focus. You can make up for lost lane XP with objectives, and it's fairly easy to 2 man a giant camp then shove a lane with it and get the fort sacrificing some lane XP and maybe one of your walls. You're then on a level XP playing field.
That said, I wouldn't necessarily mind it, but it does cause a bit more snowball than is currently in the game.

It just feels kind of silly when I'm on Brightwing solo lane and I see someone getting caught 2v1 and I know I could help him and probably save him but I choose to ignore the death because it is more advantageous for me to stay in the lane and let him die, especially assuming his death doesn't mean an open lane.
|
I like the current system, it's an incentive to cover all lanes while mid/late game has plenty of 5v5 fights which aren't the best IMHO (both from spectator and player point of view).

That or nerf Odin's movespeed even more so that you can do that, but you aren't really getting away afterwards.
