A 2/3 for 2 and 3/4 for 3 are good for arena I disagree with this
I think it's good. It would just be another vanilla 2/3 or 3/4 since I'm taking none of the C'Thun cards will have any other additional effects. So in that way they're restricting the amount of 3/4s in the game so that their value is kept, having multiple cards that are the same is just boring.

Well, if the newest MTG set is any indication, market research must have indicated that the Cthulu Mythos is in atm.
Blackrock Mountain - Dargons Dragons of Tarkir - Dargons
Shadows over Innistrad - most likely Cthulu Mythos Inspired (investigation tropes) Battle for Zendikar/Oath of the Gatewatch - Eldrazi are Cthulu Mythos inspired Whispers of the Old Ones - Cthulu Mythos Inspired
League of Explorers - Exploration theme Battle for Zendikar/Oath of the Gatewatch - Zendikar was originally an Exploration world
That's about it though, Naxxramas' closest equivalent in MTG would probably be Innistrad, The Grand Tournament doesn't really have a MTG analogy, and Goblins vs Gnomes (with the mech theme) is most closely approximated by Mirrodin (or Kaladesh, a plane with limited exposure so far, but with a lot of thopters and man-robots).
Though the similarities of the first two comparisons really make me wonder if there is some common thread that has influenced the flavor of some of the recent sets from MTG and Hearthstone.

Also lets pray we get no Old God Temple in Hearthstone if Hearthstone is copying MTG

C’Thun and Beckoner of Evil will be free. They felt this was only fair because it would feel bad if you kept getting minions that helped C’Thun without ever actually being lucky enough to open him in a pack. Players will receive 3 free packs of Whispers of the Old Gods during their release event by simply logging in. Patch next week includes: Pre-Purchase (includes card back) Thailand localization Additional deck slots Deck recipes Classic card nerfs will not be announced until much closer to release. They feel it would feel bad to know this far ahead which cards you own will be getting nerfed. No new tribes are added to this expansion. C’thun is the only Old God which has the minion support. The other gods will have different style of abilities. There will be at least 1 new dragon in this expansion (Brian Kibler was happy). Arena will not have the C’Thun cards included. Since they have specific synergy with 1 card they decided to not have them even show up in arena at all.

Does anyone else feel that Blizzard has slipped up here?
I get the feeling that they are well behind schedule, forced to release information on an expansion well short of the expected release date, on or near the two year anniversary of Hearthstone and with what will be one of the longest periods without new content.
Luckily there is fair variety in the current meta game, at least when compared to earlier interval periods, however, ~six months is a long time to be without new content. You would think with the success of LoE that they would follow a similar or short release schedule, because no hype train can be reasonably sustained over that period, I would think.

Blizzard slipped up with TGT. They had to rush and release LoE early to make up for the slack of TGT. Now we have a period of time for WoG that we shouldn't have

I was also disappointed upon hearing the distant release date, I was looking forward to more releases like LoE. My favorite part was how it was already out by the time I even knew about it. I imagine that's partly why we're getting the free cards, particularly the 3 packs, to make up for the wait. I'm probably gonna have to forget about the set until release gets closer, few things are worse than overhyping a card set.

More cards being announced tomorrow which is something.Better to discuss new cards than QQ about secret pala / waiting on the nerfs for 3 more months.
Also new deck slots on Monday ^^

Still no replay feature...
God damn it!!!

There's a pretty big difference between the two cards. Deathwing clears the board and then may get BGH'd or removed some other way. C'Thun can potentially win the game with his battlecry.
There's another difference. We know what Deathwing does and we can't say the same about C'thun. C'mon guys, nobody sees any elephants in the room? They said there are 16 cards that interact with C'thun and we have seen only 2 of those. The rest 14? Who knows what they do. Reduce the cost of C'thun? Give C'thun haste? Immunity? "Cannot be targeted by your opponents spells, abilities and minion battlecries"? "Deathrattle: fill your board with 3/3 tentacles with haste"? "Deathrattle: shuffle it back into your deck"? I have a feeling that not all of those 14 cards just simply buff C'thuns attack power.

I'm looking forward to this and thought the free packs and free C'thun was a good gesture. I think late April seems pretty reasonable in terms of release date? I mean we're looking at three releases a year, and you want one to be in the run up to Christmas. That means for even spacing April time and late Summer. Maybe it's a couple of weeks late but that's not the end of the world.

Rogue deck with shadowstep will be the class for a C'Thun deck if there will ever be one. or at least the most fun one xD lets say you get him to 14/14 or something (like in the video). i think 14 dmg for 10 mana is fine (better then pyroblast for sure), then shadowstep him, and replay him next turn and since he will cost 8, you can take him back with youthful brewmaster, then repeat it twice more! with brann added, each summoner will add +4/+4. god this will be fun!
Core: 2x Shadowstep 1-2x Youthful Brewmaster 2x Beckoner of Evil 1x Brann Bronzebeard 1x C'Thun
+ lots of removal and carddraw.. could be coupled with some kind of mill deck?.. hmm. Gang up! for sure xD cards to think about:
1-2x Vanish 2x Coldlight Oracle (to get C'thun into your hand on turn 10) 2x Gang Up
I love the idea already (even though it does not sound super effective, but mill rogue is not either and i love the deck)

I wonder if there will be similar mechanics to the other Old Gods, except they have other mechanics, e.g. Yogg Saron heals you for X equal to his toughness or something?

Druid -Innervate -Brann - Cthun -Cthun Minions -Reno -Panda

Cthun looks like a really well-designed card, to me. He has a significant amount of value when played, being able to basically boardwipe while leaving a strong body behind, but costs 10 to make up for it. It's one of the reasonable uses of 10 mana in this game, alongside Anyfin, Varian, and Deathwing, because they all create a formidable board presence while having an immediate effect on the boardstate (barring Varian, who is supported by Warrior's crazy lifegain). Even better, Cthun isn't just an automatic turn 10 play, which means that the game isn't going to come down to whether you were lucky enough to draw into Wild Growth Wild Growth Innervate Innervate for a turn 4 Cthun. You need to build up to it, which makes it a serious choice whether you want to play it early for immediate value or save it until later. And, most of all, the build-up involves playing minions which are perfectly acceptable on curve, much like Anyfin Paladin does. Those 2/3s and 3/4s are going to trade in with solid efficiency, buying time to reach Cthun. It's exactly the kind of minion combat that Blizzard was hoping to encourage. Let's not forget that, after all, Cthun can be answered, either. It's not an instant win card, and it's not a plain dies-to-removal card either. All in all, I think it lends itself to long, interesting games. I really hope it turns out to be strong enough to play, and that the other Old Gods are designed with the same finesse.

Also reminder that Ben Brode stated more cards will be revealed during the tournament and the next stream goes live in 2 hours
