I really think the Arena would be a lot better if each 'flash' gave you 5 cards instead of 3, or if you picked 35 and then chose 5 to take out of the deck. It's so easy to get screwed into 1 or 2 bad picks, and then wind up with those in your hands as effectively dead cards.
This is kind of the point of arena; decks aren't always perfect. All you can do is draft as best you can.
I used to be scared of bees as a kid. My parents kept telling me "they're just as scared of you as you are of them". Arena is the same, like any game with imperfect information and random elements (eg. poker). You may have bad cards - but quite often, so do your opponents. It's important to remember that.

yeah it would be really great if they let us draft 35-40 cards and then actually construct a deck out of those. That was one of my favorite parts about playing MTG sealed/draft because you can often try to give your deck a little bit of style and have a chance to rearrange things in between games.
I've heard the argument that Blizzard shouldn't do this because it will scare away casuals if they have to "throw away cards" which is a really pathetic excuse IMO... if people are really so casual that they cannot fathom to pick 30 out of 35-40 cards then this probably isn't the game for them in the first place. I mean, the whole process leading up to that point is picking 1 out of 3 cards so I don't see how making one last decision is going to make things that much worse. And if they are really that worried about people giving up the game then they could just throw in some button that "auto-builds" the deck at the end.

From what I have learned so far it is really important that you draft a lot of 2-4 mana creatures (preferably with some synergy) if you don't get good picks. The worst thing you can do is have bad cards and no pressure early on. I feel that you can get a lot of wins out of bad decks if you draft a really agressive aggro deck. Sometimes the opponents have really good cards but simply can't deal with a lot of pressure or deal with it too late. Make sure that you have some sort of finisher (like fireball or a high dmg weapon) for the time when your opponent finally stablizes the board.

Sure, but sometimes I have a very bad deck and my opponents have a very good deck, even though I may be a better player and picker than he is.
I'm not saying all RNG should be eliminated, but when an arena deck is TOO random, it can make playing it feel like playing a slot machine.

Latest run was 5 wins, such bad draws on two losses and one of them I had a huge card advantage I just needed one of my 2 flamestrikes or blizzards in the last 10 cards in my deck and didn't draw one the entire game. Curse you rng!

My last few runs have been great. It seems with all these new beta keys out the competition isn't as fierce.

He used the coin to play the card 'put a copy of a random minion from your opponent's deck into play'. Sadly, it was my best creature, Windfury Harpy, and I spent the whole match trying to deal with it. I silenced it, he doubled its health, I mind controlled it, he mind controlled it back, and eventually i was overrun.
Another priest match where I'll take the blame, I didn't play around holy nova and ate a really bad one on turn 5 that killed 3 of my minions and saved his. I evened it out with that 7/5 "your minions cost 2 more", but he mind controlled it and beat me to death with it.
I went 2/3, but my pack contained a golden King Krush, so all is forgiven!
Fixed that for ya.

You don't understand that a good deck can lose to bad luck?
I lost my third arena match with my most recent deck which had a very 2/3 heavy curve. The first 8 cards (threw all first 3 away) were 4+ mana and without a 2 or 3 drop I had no chance.
Run was 6-3 though so no complaints

1st Arena run I had an unfortunate drafting pool and ended 2-3. 2nd Arena run was a 9-2 run with this:

Pretty solid little deck there. Funnest part was playing around with Hogger (him Guardian of Kings, Silverhand Knight, Argent Commander, Fen Creeper, Stormpike Commando and Sunwalker I had are not showing).

went 9-1 today on shaman. Honestly I don't remember what was the deck, but there are a list of very important cards that you must pick up then you win.
For shaman, that would be hex, storm, bolts, weapons, fire elemental, yetis, and 1 bloodlust

getting to actually pull off a game winning play with angry chicken made an otherwise poor draft really fun. you could say i put all my eggs in one basket, oohhh yee.

1-3 with a 3 Arcanite Reaper deck because I insisted on picking up every Slam so I could Slam Jam. 4-3 twice with druid decks one that was running double soul of the forest the other that was just pure minion buffs with little shenanigans like maybe one questing adventurer 2-3 Priest misplayed an awesome deck and threw 2 games 2-3 Mage went for a 5 arcane wyrm deck because goddamnit theyre so damn cute 0-3 Rogue because I'm bad with my favorite class and don't understand what's actually good about it.
Oh and I had a warlock deck but I don't remember what happened with it I believe I suppressed the memories because it was so awful.

Picked Warrior and drafted a pretty mean deck. Had 3 Tazdingos, 3 Fiery War Axes, 2 Arcanite Reapers, 1 Raging Worgen, 1 Spellbreaker, 1 Vampire Co Mercenary, etc.
Started off 1-2.
My first opponent was a Shaman who had 3 Lightning storms, 2 Feral Spirits, 3 Fire Elementals, 2 Hexes and a freaking Windlord.
Next deck was a Warlock Deck that had a crazy early start and I only got to play a card once I got 4 mana, (he had coin). Couldn't catch up in time.
I was scared then, wondering if my awesome deck would fail me.
Just finished 9-2, got 205 gold, 2 packs and 35 dust

Lost to a Druid with I think a total of five starfires.
And three Druids of the Claw.
Lucky bugger.

So I got to 8 wins on my warlock. I was playing for my 9th win but I decided I wanted more gold over foils/boosters so I get the guy to like 4 hp, I have 5 cards on the field to his 1, and I'm at full life and at the last moment I surrender. Guy was probably really confused.

Some fucking retard named Hunter just waited every turn just before the time ran out and only then pressed "Next". So damn annoying... Good that I won though.

7-3 Warrior run, all 3 losses to mages.....
|
I played a mage draft and thought the deck was god-awful, really low amount of low creatues, terrible midgame. Somehow i managed to sneak 7 wins out of that. What? WHAT? Mage op!
|
Just got my first 9 run! I went 9-2 with a Warlock. God I love his hero ability! Running a little low on cards? No problem
My average is 4-6 per run. Never got above 6 before this. I was @ 6-2 and was like OMFG not again. Then the arena gods must have taken pity on me and let me go 3-0. Thank you arena gods!
Oh yeah, my 2 losses were to a Mage and...............wait for it...................a Priest (of course)!
