Hey I'm having trouble changing my mouse sensitivity using regedit. Inputting different values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Control Panel>Mouse>Mouse Sensitivity has no effect whatsoever..

I've tried restarting and still nothing..

Can't find much information on this but I have seen other threads with people having the same problem.. none of them have replies..

Anyone know anything about this or any other way to alter your mouse sensitivity using a number instead of a slider so you can actually get the sensitivity just as you want it.

There are some decent programs out there, if anyone knows one that allows for a great deal of specificity that might suffice..

Thanks!

Edit:
Ok it seems as though I'm being misunderstood..

So in the control panel mouse sensitivity slider, you have notches 5 and 6 for example, I'm trying to get regedit working so I can set my sensitivity to say 5.5 or 5.6..

I'm sure you can just turn it to max or lowest? with the normal methods of control panel -> mouse settings...
2 things to do to make Vista like XP ie unlocking yourself to be a true poweruser on the os Vista was made with the midset that all you people do is fuck up the computer so we are going to try to stop edits that cause that
1. Unlock true admin account and use that

2.Disable UAC

I would help with navi though control panel but i don't have vista i only have XP XP Prox64 and Win 7x64 installed

Just go though control panel and look for mouse settings...

I'd try getting rid of mouse acceleration in the registry before you try to tinker with the sensitivity. Even with the acceleration checkbox unselected there's still a decent amount of acceleration in windows that you can get rid of.

With mouse acceleration gone the sensitivity slider is much more accurate.

You can easily check if you have any acceleration with two stationary objects on your mousepad..
I'm not sure who told you it's hard to get rid of it but the control panel options works for me

Also I'm not looking for "accuracy", I'm not even sure what you mean by that unless you're still talking about acceleration..

I'm trying to get more control over how sensitive the mouse is...

Tuff Luck :p just get used to 6 or 5 Or buy a gaming mouse that has an independent program to deal with speed instead of os reliance.

Just because you don't know the solution doesn't mean there isn't one.

In WinXP there a 20 possible mousespeeds 1 to 20. I don't think you can choose anything other than these 20 integer values.
But in the config dialog only shows 1,2,4,6,...,18,20 (all even numbers and 1).
The mousespeed in Chaosplugin allows all values from 1 to 20, but still no fractional values.

It doesn't accept decimal points...
I'd say give up on trying to trick the os and find a program that can change your mouse speed independent of the os.
If not i suggest learning more then just mousesentivity values in that reg folder because those affect mouse speed too maybe your spoiled ass would find something you like in that best bet is to change mouse threshold x and y because the way i remember it is mouse sensitivity is a multiplied by those numbers to get your speed.

Hmm yeah the only evidence I have that you can use fractional values is that regedit allows you to enter decimals.. It may very well round up or just go to a default value when it doesn't recognize the number.

However I can't even test this because no change I make has any effect whatsoever..

Also the Chaos plugin has been hugely useful for me in SC but I'm trying to find a method for greater customization throughout all programs.

I think I remember reading a thread that regedit works on XP but that doesn't help me unfortunately..

I'm sure there is a solution I just have to find it.

My spoiled ass?

The fact that there is a entry called "MouseSensitivity" in the registry suggests the intention was you could modify the sensitivity using it don't you think?

And you can but apparently you aren't satisfied with the numbers given to you =p it's not a far reach
anyways if it's not changing it's because you need to log off or restart your computer for the changes to take effect =p
