I have a new computer that was custom built in korea. i just bought a korean keyboard today so i could start writing stuff in korea (since i'm trying to learn). I can't get the korean hangul button on my keyboard to work. It only types in english. Yet i can still read korean on my computer. is there something obvious i'm doing wrong? has anyone else has this problem before? any help is appreciated.

at the bottom right there should be this EN thing
right click on it and go settings
go to add, korean, hangul or something.
then go to the ime 2002 thing and go properties,
make sure the first button is radioed in and the first box only is checked.

then go to key settings and make some sort of key sequence, i use ctrl shift 0.

and then, everytime im in korean settings, pressing alt switches between hangul and english.

Did you install the korean language pack? Or did you set a "combo" to change to korean keyboard?

I've a german XP so I cannot tell you exactly whats the options name but:

Start -> System Settings -> Region and Languagesettings -> Languages -> Details -> there you add korean keyboard and a combo how to change to it.

For example Ctrl+Shift+0 ..
If it doesn't type korean after you did the combo try to hit ALT+GR and it will!

Once you change to Korean you also need to make sure it's not in the English mode of the Korean language setting. Donno if that is the issue.

To clarify, in the US it's not called AltGr, it's just the right alt button.

When I was trying to get my computer to type hangul, I had that problem. What solved it for me was, even though the computer SAID to push left alt + shift, I have to actually use the RIGHT alt + shift. No idea why.
Can't believe I'm still here playing this same game

I had the same problem, what fixed it for me is going to the language options and selecting IME 2000, not the US option, which as far as I can tell does nothing.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=28985&l=2c384&id=502469026

That's what it looks like, selecting anything other than Microsoft IME doesn't do anything. Select that, then click the "A" to change to hangul.

ㄸ얏: ㅓㅕㄴㅅ 새 ㅠㄷ 녁ㄷ, ㅑㅅ 재간.

That is not actually Korean, just making sure it works :X. (They teach us phonetically first! It's goofy).

I suppose that's true, it's not like you'd forget where all the English letters are. Too bad I have a laptop.

It's actually MUCH better to never look at the keyboard when you learn a new language or layout. I learned to type dvorak and korean this way, and after about a week of trial-and-error, you never have to look at the keyboard again. Alternatively you can make your desktop background the layout, so you have a visual guide that's not on the keyboard, so you learn based on where the finger feels the key, as opposed to where you see it (type with your fingers, not your eyes).

EDIT: korean IME is also very well layed out. The vowels are all on the right hand, and the consonants on the left (like dvorak but reversed), and the basic vowels are layed out logically by their appearance:

ㅓ is left of ㅏ, ㅗ is above ㅜ, and the same with the y vowels.

You have to install the Korean IME first, then make sure that the EN thing in the taskbar is KO, then hit right alt to switch to hangul.

Since it's related, how come why because when I look at games on BNet which I assume to be written in Korean, it's a collection of random symbols, and when gamers on BNet attack or Ilovestar look for games, there are only ones with Korean, and not English titles?
