Incubus' new CD, Light Grenades is coming out at the end of the month but true to it's nature, the internet has provided us with a leaked version since the 17th.
I'm a big Incubus fan, have been since I was a grade schooler rocking out to Science, and I'm really impressed with this album. It's still very listenable and rocky, but has as many creative aspects as any other album they've released.
I really like how these guys continue to play around and experiment without crossing the line of pretencious "experimental rock" and alienating the pop audience. Very cool stuff.
Personally I could do with a little more rock (Light Grenades is the only track that really got my head rocking) but overall I think it's a great contribution to popular music and shows that this band has the stuff to stay around for a while. They just might end up being one of the best bands of my generation, not that there's really that much competition.
So have you heard the album? What do you think of it?
I've look for leaks on Limewire in a sec and put some input down, but does anyone find that title alittle....different for incubus? It reminds me of Tool using "10,000 days" for a album title.
I'm a huge fan of S.C.I.E.N.C.E, but I really do feel that Incubus has dropped off after Make Yourself. Besides a few good toons on As The Crow Flies, the album was crap. They haven't released the new CD in the states iirc, but the song Anna Molly really rocks, so I'm looking forward to it.
Back during the Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E., the funk was pure sex, when they dropped off their old bassit for this new guy I was pissy, Anna Molly's Intro reminds me of that song by Elefant.
Don't ask for torrents and stuff guys. You can do that jazz through PM, but posting requests in threads is indeed pushing it.
If you guys find them generic, I'd urge you to listen to more of their catolouge before making that judgement. The cool thing about this band is that they never repeat themselves, so there isn't anything redundant, overall.
And if you want my opinion, there isn't anything wrong with a crow left of the murder. If the music doesn't have a pop element to it, you're in dangerous territory of becoming a mars volta. And no one wants that!
Yea, I LOVE INCUBUS. I never really got into the funk songs from the S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Fungus Amongus albums. Make Yourself has a few good songs (With You, Drive). I thought Morning View was an amazing album, every single song I liked. And A Crow Left Of The Murder had a few decent songs =P I liked the albums that you all seem to categorize as "generic alternate rock" T_T I actually just saw a new music video from their new album, song and video were pretty sweet !

well, I have always thought them as boring and I downloaded this album to give them a second chance. And yes, they do change it up a bit, but moving from lettuce to cabbage remains dull.
[radioheadplug]radiohead is a band that also refuse to repeat itself, but manages to capture interest (read: worship) with each album.[/radioheadplug]

I've just listened to the CD a few times through today and I gotta say, it really is good throughout. And it has something for everyone, without seeming like they intended it. Just really balanced.
As far as singles and the like are concerned, you won't get the best of what the band can offer that way. But I guess the average radio listener just wanted to hear drive over and over again.

I think you're being harsh, but that's the nature of opinions and music I guess.
As far as radiohead is concerned, I love the band but you can't use them as a bar for creativity man. Every band that tried to be radioheadish just ends up agrevating me, so I'd never encourage that in any other band.
You can't just compare every band to the who and zepplin and say they aren't good enough.
