It's a compilation made by Business Insider. The article should have been named "The Pro-Gamers with Highest Tournament Earnings" because I think they excluded sponsorship and salary.
Good to see so many Dota 2 and SC2 gamers on the list but I'm really surprised not a single LoL players are on the list.

That's because I believe that SC2 has highest tournament prizes for single players, LoL and Dota2 folks have to divide the prize into 5.
|
So, how many years is this taking into account here?

also the internationals really blow league out of thw water. 1M is a lot of money

Still, 4 out of the top 15 earners on this list are DOTA players, but still no LoL players. Are the tournament earnings significantly different between dota and LoL?_?
|
LoL pro's make majority of their money through stream revenue; and team income. Aside from TPA dudes who won the massive tourney last year; most LoL pro's don't make that much through tourney revenue.

Mvp and Flash's wins are interesting to see considering amount of time each has played in their respective games. Seeing Bisu beaten by Nestea must be painful for Bisu fans XD

Id love to see a list with salaries, sponsorship, streaming income and non-monetary compensation (like team houses, travel and insurance) included. Although at that point I am sure 6 or 7 of the top ten will be LoL players.

I think Flash, Jaedong, Bisu, Moon and Stephano would still be in the top 10 with salary and streaming added in.

This doesn't say a lot since the BW players got most of their money from their salary anyway.

Pretty sure Flash would be #1, unless someone like Nada has made more over time from salary.

Something else to note here is that Riot pays every member of an active team in the LCS ( League Championship Series ) 12.5k each SPLIT, and iirc there are 3 splits per year. Teams also receive an extra 25,000 to deal with expenses. The winner of each "split" wins 50,000 (dollars).

That's only tournament winnings . Flash , Jaedong , Bisu and Moon maid a crap ton of money through salary . Flash by now has made way over 1 million $ , probably between 1.250 -1.50 millions or something it could be higher .
|
Weird to look at "winnings" and call it money with which that they are "paid" in the first place.

Nowadays, yes. Shooter tournaments in the early 00's had even bigger prizes, which ultimately contributed to their downfall...

Not only them though, Fatal1ty has made a significant amount from advertisements and selling products with his brand.

Can you elaborate on that? Why did bigger prize led to their downfall?

Because the games weren't very established at that time. People saw massive interest in Quake and Counter-Strike and decided to put large amounts of money into games that didn't have a comparable community in terms of size and dedication (despite being good games). So instead of growing the scene by giving amateurs a bigger incentive to practice and also financial support so they can keep playing, all they did was attract Fatal1ty, and to a lesser extent Vo0, experienced and skilled progamers who could afford to practice a lot more than amateurs. Fatal1ty, who had since fallen off quite hard from being the best Quake player (his reign was much more short-lived than media/articles make it out to be) saw that there wasn't much money he could earn from it and switched to those games instead.
Kinda how people looked at MLG Columbus and Anaheim back in 2011 and believed we would come to a point where mid-tier Koreans will win every foreign event. That possibility would have been quite similar to this.
