edit: And if we are talking salaries too then IIRC his team had a 1 million dollar contract with MLG for atleast a year. Plus the NBA player Gilbert Arenas "owned" the team. No clue what that entailed though, if it was really anything at all.

Please educate me about significant differencies between these two games. You realize by your logic every Quake game is a clone of the previous title right? And yet there's so many subtleties that people who played competitively will be able to point out... -_- Biggest differences would be the weapons (DURR THERE'S ROCKETS THAT MEANS IT'S QUAKE... no... -_-) and the movement system which worked quite differently. Oh and super protip: rocket jumping existed before Quake. Ogre 2 has won tons of events (over 40 Halo MLG events I believe) including multiple $100k National Championships at MLG, so he would no doubt have to be there somewhere, despite having to split a lot of the prize money 4 ways (sometimes 2 ways in doubles events and sometimes money just for himself because of 1v1 events). It lists 9 of his 1st place finishes despite him having over 4 times the amount of wins as that. If I cared more I would try to dig up how much money he has won in total, but I'm not sure how hard some of that info is to find. edit: And if we are talking salaries too then IIRC his team had a 1 million dollar contract with MLG for atleast a year. Like others have pointed out on previous pages, it's not really relevant if you don't include other means of revenue like streaming and advertisements (I'd wager BoxeR and NaDa earned a decent amount from the latter, given their popularity ^^)

By your logic warcraft and starcraft and even going as far as AgeOfEmpire2 are all clones. It's same genre, but the game is completely different. More so than sc2 and brood war. They're merely the same type of game.

Disregard the video, read the top comment. Definitely cannot be sure if it's legit, but it does seem like his attitude. He dabbled in Counter-Strike because it was getting big, and yes he was really good in its early days, but then along came Painkiller... Like someone pointed out on the previous page, Painkiller was a major oddity. It was a fantastic game in its own right with an absolute fuckload of money pumped into it, and yet the playerbase was significantly smaller than that of other competitive shooters at the time. Now that you mention it, it's funny he's listed as Quake and Counter-Strike, considering about half of his total winnings come from Painkiller alone. ($150k from a single CPL tournament alone)

Worth noting that the vast majority of people on that list have only competed for 2-3 years tops. 60-100k a year is very respectable for any competitive career except the very upper echelons of professional sports.
