That she would lose Boris and Raab was a given, the question is if she can attract enough of the opposition. Corbyn and People's Vote Campaign have already said no. Yes I'm not saying it's likely to pass, it definitely won't, but that she's losing brexiteer support isn't an indication of it failing. They're not her targets. She knew she would lose them. You call them 'Brexiteers' but if they consistently vote against (a reality-based) Brexit, they aren't really Brexiteers, are they? That both Raab and Johnson did vote once for May's deal only shows what hypocrites they are. They yelled for so long that May's deal was worse than remaining. And then they still voted for May's deal, only to oppose it once more. They've seen the light at the end of the tunnel now. Keep saying no and May will have to leave, then Johnson can do whatever the fuck he wants with brexit. Can he though? Doesn't whatever he decides on have to pass through Parliament, which leaves the UK in pretty much the exact same position?
Any PM can force through a No deal brexit because it doesn't need a vote, all they have to do is prorogue parliament until October 31st and tell the EU they will not accept any more extensions.

We can blame parties like Labor and the democrats for being uninspiring piles of trash, but no one is trying to “win back” these xenophobic fucks. That type of thinking is what has lead to these weak ass left leaning parties. Give milkshake man a mic and I bet he can get more people to the polls than most of these weak tea politicians. There are plenty to win back and the British left has failed miserably for quite some period, I largely agree with Nettles here.
It’s completely the reverse here IMO, we got these weak parties because they counted on being able to keep certain segments of society on side in perpetuity without actually giving them anything in return, who are now surprised that this has happened and are doubling down on their previous tactics while attributing it to the perceived flaws of the people they themselves let down.
Brexit of course is a spectre that looms over everything at present, last general election Corbyn’s Labour were surging pretty hard towards the end, I don’t think the popularity of their platform will have dissipated once we vaguely return to normal non-Brexit times, although that remains to be seen.

Uh huh.
I'll let you in on a secret. The working class completely abandoned UKIP after the referendum, because they were actually fairly happy with whoever they were voting for (still predominantly Labour). The one and only reason these parties are back is because the wedge issue (which Nigel Farage helped create and profited from) caused our government to stop functioning.
Now this time it might be permanent, because the dysfunction has reached near-fatal levels, but we aren't going to know if the pattern repeats until after Brexit actually happens. It seems fairly obvious to me Nigel is going to try and use this time to create a sustainable base. I hope he utterly fails for the 8th time.
And god forbid a racist be called a racist for constantly saying things that are racist. What sort of world would we be living in where people do that?

Labour's been extraordinarily dysfunctional for some time. Jeremy Corbyn was incredibly popular with the working class. Labour fucked itself by trying so hard to oust him, which did nothing but damage its entire standing as an institution. It's still predominantly popular with the working class. However class isn't as dominant a decider on voting habits right now; age is.
Also David Cameron did a huge amount of good work in dragging the Tories to the centre and being likeable enough that plenty of people in the working class (and younger voters) were happy to vote Tory. The chances of that happening after May's government seems slender at best.
The problem with these discussions is that this is not atypical politics; Brexit is an anomaly and everything's in chaos. We aren't going to know where things are going, nor really get a proper look at the picture of things, until its over.
I mean, Brexit has singlehandedly destroyed Jeremy Corbyn; the exact qualities that made him so popular (comparative honesty for a politician, inflexible fixation on honesty and trying to follow through on his beliefs) have been an anchor during these times because he's a historic euroskeptic and won't bend. So now the Labour voters who overwhelmingly prefer remain are turning on him.
Once things have settled, is age going to be set as the new bar, with younger voters preferring Labour and older preferring Tory? Probably. But will the class divisions resettle? Also probably, but that one's more up in the air. If Corbyn doesn't recover, Labour's going to have to restructure, and without Corbyn they only really seem to have (incredibly unpopular) Blairites to choose from.

I just want a direct answer to this question:
Which was worse, when Tommy Robinson got milkshake thrown on him or when he beat up a copper for interfering while he was trying to kick the shit out of his girlfriend?
These people who are getting milkshakes thrown on them are the absolute worst kind of scum. They deserve the humiliation. Farage's lies have got people killed, they have got countless people assaulted and racially abused, he's a guy who literally produced nazi propaganda for his Brexit campaign. Fuck him in his stupid racist ass.
These fuckers on the right wing will happily follow this guy:
Assault In 2005, Robinson was jailed for 12 months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, for which he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, and assault with intent to resist arrest, for which he received a concurrent term of three months.
Assaulting a police officer In 2010, Robinson was charged with assaulting a police officer during clashes at a poppy burning protest. After the fighting, a police officer was taken to hospital after trying to intervene in a 50 man brawl.
Rooftop protest In 2011, Robinson and EDL co-founder Kevin Carroll flew to Zurich to protest on the roof of a FIFA building that England were not allowed to wear poppies on their kit because of FIFA’s political symbol ban. They were fined £3,000 for their troubles.
Assault at his own rally In 2011, Robinson was convicted of assault for an attack at an EDL march in Blackburn. After he was goaded for being a government and police informant Robinson launched into a verbal tirade against those protesting against him. Robinson then proceeded to headbutt one of the march goers.
Luton football riot In July 2011, Robinson was found guilty of leading a brawl that included 100 Luton Town football fans into a fight with Newport County fans. Fans were heard chanting ‘EDL till I die.’ For the crime committed, he was given a suspended 12-month prison sentence and banned from Luton football matches for 3 years.
Using someone else’s passport In January 2013 Robinson was jailed for 10 months for travelling to the USA on his friend’s passport. Robinson admitted the charge of possession of a false identity document with improper intention. The passport Robinson used was under the name of Andrew McMaster. He checked himself in on the way out from Heathrow airport however when he arrived in the USA customs officials took his fingerprints and realised he was using a passport that was not his own.
Mortgage fraud In 2014, Tommy Robinson was sentenced to prison for 18 months for committing mortgage fraud with the crime dating back to 2009. After pleading guilty in November 2013 to committing £160,000 worth of mortgage fraud Robinson was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court.
Whilst passing the sentence, the judge told Robinson: ‘This was an operation which was fraudulent from the outset and involved a significant amount of forward planning.’
“I am satisfied you took part in a thoroughly dishonest course of conduct,’ he told him.
Contempt of court 1 In 2017, Robinson was given a 3 month suspended sentence after he admitted a contempt of court charge for attempting to photograph juvenile defendant in a court case whilst having no right to do so. Court security had told Robinson not to film in and around the court as it would lead to his arrest. The 3 month suspended sentence could be activated within 18 months.
Contempt of court 2 Finally, earlier this year, the crucial case that led to Robinson being jailed and sparked the ridiculous Free Tommy protests. Robinson is currently serving a 13-month sentence for contempt of court. Robinson was arrested after Facebook live streaming outside Leeds Crown Court for an hour despite their being reporting restrictions on the case. Because he had a suspended sentence for the same crime the judge sentenced Robinson to 13 months in prison. Robinson pled guilty.
But someone throws a milkshake and they are a sign of the decline in western politics.
Please.

Well it’s all a pretty depressing stew all in all, the auld politics.
In the absence (or perceived, which is basically the same thing in terms of political reality) of sensible discussions on certain issues in politics and the wider media sphere that people feel strongly about, eventually someone will do that who isn’t sensible, or isn’t a particularly savoury person to be doing so.
It’s absolutely possible to do this without pandering to people’s worst impulses.

The hundreds of politicians that have not been the victim of violence despite having milkshakes/pies thrown at this stands in sharp contrast to your example of 1.

EU elections are single issue protest vote elections in the UK. The Brexit Party is a fringe party benefiting from throwaway votes for an office they themselves claim is powerless and pointless. Power remains in Westminster.

These fuckers on the right wing will happily follow this guy: Assault In 2005, Robinson was jailed for 12 months for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, for which he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, and assault with intent to resist arrest, for which he received a concurrent term of three months.
Please. How about instead of throwing a milkshake at him you ignore him? I mean thats what the majority is doing.UKIP is at 2-3%, they’re about as relevant as Change UK. Brexit Party at 37% in the latest yougov poll. But if people aren’t a fan of Farage ignore him, debate him or be positive in your support for remain.Violence is unacceptable.
All you had to do was answer a simple question.

I’m fine with milkshakes to be fair. I’d draw the line at bricks though. It’s a good way to remind politicians that they’re reviled by the masses. I was also fine when Simon Cowell got egged on tv. These people spend their lives thinking they’re better than the common man, it’s good for them to be humiliated from time to time. Keeps them honest. Better a milkshake than a cup of acid but thats where i see this heading. Is this some alternate reality where a remainer MP wasn't brutally murdered?
It's the only reality where someone could possibly care about a bruised ego of a reprehensible millionaire banker elite, rather than a politician being stabbed and shot by someone shouting "Britian first".

What do people think is going to happen if politicians, media and (especially now) us regular folks whip up the rhetoric that the other folks aren’t wrong on the details or policy but are awful, morally bankrupt monsters?
I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often, happily surprised for once when it comes to something vaguely political.
I was quite proud of the UK political sphere for not turning Jo Cox into a martyr for particular political positions, I hope that bit of restraint over a horrifying moment isn’t going to be abandoned now.

I was actually throwing iplaynettle's words back at him. Those are the words he uses.
Standalone, I would had simply written "Farage".

Profitable though. You get loads of money as an MEP, as Farage demonstrated. Never even bothered turning up most of the time.

Turning someone into a martyr and pointing out how fucking idiotic fake outrage over a milkshake is by reminding people of the right wing equivalent of "milkshake throwing left wing terrorists/radicals" are two very different things.
If it makes you sleep better, i'll point out Tommy Robinsons "speech" on the weekend, where a few followers were taken in by the police for violence (throwing bricks and eggs at the police and counter protesters). All the while making up stories about people being stabbed and shot beforehand (which the police already clarified are bullshit). Not for the first time either, btw - his "speeches" seem to have an interesting effect on the poor, milkshake-PTSD suffering right wingers.
“Nearly all of the time an egg is an egg, and a milkshake is a milkshake. We, in the [Secret Service], on President Bush, in the post 9/11 era didn't consider that stuff to be ‘political violence’ in the absence of evidence of intent to cause actual harm,” he tweeted.
“We had eggs thrown. We had powder thrown. We had drinks thrown. I had a frappucino thrown at us in a motorcade. Mostly, this stuff never made the press, George Bush had a valet with a spare suit and a good attitude.
“FFS, Nigel, Carl, Stephen. You got a whole posse of handlers and factotums. Keep a change of clothes handy and man up.
That's from a former ranking member of the secret service, for bush no less. If one of "your" guys is telling you to man up and stop being a pussy, making a drama out of "radical left wing milkshake terrorism", you might want to take the hint (not aimed at Wombat).
