ok so blue robot has been upgraded with a shiny new liquid cooled quantum processors with all the latest trendy aps.. hes also fitted with a couple extra optical appendages. lasers not included. whats he do next?
Day 1) That new robot smell. upgrade size to make him grow huge upgrade strength to get our bot buff upgrade intelligence to give him mad skills if he explores he will encounter a random robot that he can destroy and use for spare parts.
This is our robot! We will call him blue for lack of a better name for now. (Post name suggestions and I will set up a poll and everyone can vote on the best one) right now hes just the factory default robot with no upgrades however I will post a poll and everyone votes on what it upgrades next or you can choose to explore and our robot will encounter other robots and androids it can kill and use their scraps for parts as it grows bigger and more powerful in its quest for world domination.
When hes finally complete after 10 rounds of upgrades he will be sent to challenge liquid blue in a showdown for the title of biggest badass in the liquiverse. I generally decide how the vote results affect the upgrade he gets and usually go with peoples suggestions if they are reasonable.
I never got a chance to do creature battles with other forums because basically I have no way of removing people who are cheating from breaking the game. I have decided that It would just be much simpler and more enjoyable if I just used a comic style format to resolve the battles.

Basically we vote for options to skill up or do things, then Coagulation will post a new picture which shows the results of our choice. As for determining outcomes of fights/etc... ostensibly its based on our skills up to that point, but really it's voodoo magic.

Also, for all the "explore" people out there: explore basically means go find another robot to fight with. We'll need some advantages before we're ready to beat the living shit out of anything we meet while exploring. Last time around we spec'd into intel pretty heavily and it turned out awesome. Partly because we were able to psyblast half the creatures we met while exploring. I'm all for doing it again!

I think it better if we go for a different build on this guy. Since Liquid_Blue was pretty much pure intellect build. I would like to draw some robots for a league. I don't know if I would have time to draw a new one every 12 hours though. Maybe like every 2 days?
Also, instead of worrying about a game that can be abused, you could just sorta take a Calvinball approach and have fun with it. I don't think there is ever gonna be a way to empirically determine who has the strongest fictional robot. The game can be just as silly and random as the creation of the robots themselves.
I am imagining like 32 robots each created in their own thread, and then there is a bracket where it is voted on randomly kinda like that TL ESPORTS bracket which was just completely random. The battles could be like best of 3s where each artist/team chooses a move and then people vote on who takes the round.
Anyway, just some random brainstorming :D

Just get random TLers to make MS paint monsters/robots/cosmic horrors, take the most promising ones and art them up, make up some stats (or have people vote on stats) and make a bracket. winner gets to add on the loser's parts or skills, and it goes until only one remains standing, ready to enslave the universe.
and of course the next time a tournament is held the winner gets to defend its crown.

Just get random TLers to make MS paint monsters/robots/cosmic horrors, take the most promising ones and art them up, make up some stats (or have people vote on stats) and make a bracket. winner gets to add on the loser's parts or skills, and it goes until only one remains standing, ready to enslave the universe.
and of course the next time a tournament is held the winner gets to defend its crown.
Ooh the winner takes the losers skills, I like that.
are these paint versions too low quality? if so i'm gonna ditch my initial plan of getting really drunk and making some more
Seems like coag can fix anything. Getting drunk and doing more seems like a great idea! Keep us updated on how that goes. Only problem would be if coag has the time/energy to fix them all up.

Yup, I was thinking for some rules for the monster game :
TLers propose some MS paint drawed monsters that we tune, once we got enough, we make a game where TL gets 5 random monsters and all other monsters are set randomly in some dungeons. TLers can then vote in 3 different polls : Mate poll (which monster do babies to which monster, to create an hybrid) Explore poll (which creature goes to which dungeon) Evolve poll (which creature gets an evolution)
The dungeons are set totally randomly so some of them can have a stupidly strong boss at entrance, so sending some crappy monsters to scout should be a good call, since monster will permanently die if they don't succeed a fight or an escape.
When a monster is defeated, we can capture him. At the end of the dungeon would be a random artifact
Monsters could have some defined stats so we can predict a combat outcome, but it's good if a part of randomness is kept (something like a simplified D&D)
ohhhh, didn't see the post :/ Are you also doing it ? if so i can stop mine and save it as a template for later, I haven't gone into the fire and ice stuff yet
And the "board" thing sounds a lot like Dungeon of doom. Basically robots/monster/player choose from which entrance they want to start, the enemy traps/monsters/events are set by someone (coag I suppose?) after each one we get to choose a reward for clearing the trap/monster/event, if you we fail our poor creature/robot dies a hilarious death, with funny pictures involved. A note should be that dungeon of doom (Dnd one) was never meant to be cleared and was basically beginner characters walking into big demons/dragons and other stuff, it had a high score for who got the furthest.

At first glance I thought that you suggested someone guy showering.
at first i thought it was gonna be this badass rotating collection of tubes but then that became just the head. then i thought it was going to be some sort of clown type thing but eventually it turned into just this weird thing

Behold my paint skills. That is supposed to be a ghost-like creature with a red hat and some weapons for hands (or in his hands) and a long tail with spikes or something else dangerous on them.
Green/gray see-through body.
P.S : If you're wondering about the shape, that started as a teapot but I gave up that idea and was too lazy to remake the shape.
I think if someone decides to draw it though, I thought it would be cooler to have that left hand (on the right on the drawing) be an acidic mess (it was supposed to be steam initially --- I think a teapot ghost is better than a normal ghost)

the thing in his head is some sort of super high tech reactor that generates the power needed for whatever those blue things sticking out from the head are. the blue lines and black dots were my best attempt at circuits. the head is not filled in all the way, there are huge gaps in between those 3 yellow spokes in wish electricity can be seen shooting out of the core of the head

I went to the liberty of making a bestiary, compendium, index, whatever you want to call it. I thought it would be nice to have everything in one place, and numbers we can look at to see where things stand. Hopefully you all find this at least slightly useful.
Basically we have the number, representing the order in which the original concept was posted.
We have the name of the creature which I added in order to make the references easier to parse. + Show Spoiler +
Some of the names are from the original concept post. Such as Slimy, Basalt Giant, and the aptly named, “Weird Thing.” (I know that’s not what it’s name was supposed to be. But I found the description accurate and filled with brevity.)
One is from the artist. (Free Hug)
And the rest are from my imagination. Some better than others. My favorite names I came up with are The Cookbot, Grim Rapper (the teeth, you see), The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Drugs. And my personal favorite, Slender Bear. The instant I saw that suit I knew what he had to be called, and it amuses me to no end.
Some of my names kind of suck though, so I’m open to suggestions.
Next is the name of the original “concept artist”. Clicking on the name will take you to the post in which you can see the concept picture for yourself.
Last, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY we have the Badass Artists themselves. Clicking on their names will take you to the BEAUTIFUL final picture of the creature.
BAMF renamed IcyHot by request of Mordanis. Random period after one of the numbers removed. Removed s from Free Hugs, noticed it was only Free Hug in the picture. Stick Gunman renamed Steve by request of Firebolt145, the original artist. Added Chicken Scratch, wasn't sure if that was supposed to be it's name. But that's what it is for now. Added finished Slender Bear artwork. Adjusted completed monsters to reflect change in number. Added Psyzilla. IcyHot renamed Genius Loci by request of strongandbig, the original artist. Italicized it because he did in his post. And why not, it looks cool. Added Levitating Face, Stomp Bot, Laser Elephant and The Red Ogre, the last I wasn't sure what to call, so I'm settling for this atm. Added finished Chicken Scratch artwork. Added finished Laser Elephant artwork. Added a bunch new concept artwork. Added finished Weird Thing artwork. Removed some text from the main body of the post to make more room, and make it easier to update. Complted monster numbers still there. Added a bunch new concept artwork, went to the liberty of giving Manlifesto7 a title. Added finished Stomp Bot artwork. Added Murderer of Steve Irwin concept artwork. I deny the all accusations that the name is insensitive. Added finished Basalt Giant artwork.
I'd respectfully like to ask that #10 BAMF be renamed IcyHot. If either artist is against that, they obviously get precedence over my humble opinion. I just think that IcyHot is a kickass name for that one :D
and when we have 200+ monsters we'll make an rpg off it! it could be a community project TL members collaboration thing. and it would be totally awesome.

Done. But yeah. Something I forgot to mention. If any of the original artists want the name of their creature changed just tell me, and I will. These names were mainly to make it easier to navagate. (Though I'd only reluctantly part with Slender Bear.)
Well, anyone's free to suggest name changes. But I'm valuing the opinion of the original artist a little more.

Something to note in the future, everyone. In order to not cluster up the thread I’ll probably just edit my post and put something in the changelog rather than replying every time someone wants something changed. So just check back at the top of page 32 anytime you make a request, if I’m around I’ll usually change it in a jiffy.
And I’ll be editing in new artwork as it rolls around. Provided I’m present, and if I’m not it’ll happen not too far in the future.

Unfortunately I don’t think it turned out as cool as my other one. My brain is too advanced in comparison to my artistic skill when it comes to visuals I am thinking. (Not saying much, I know.) So in the place of artistic skill I shall invoke the power of words!
The idea was a sort of gorilla like body, although with a more upright posture, and more variance in the leg length. It only has the one beefy front leg, and coming out of it’s chest around where the other leg would be if he had one are two spindly t-rex like arms, for manipulating delicate objects. Another note is it's supposed to have gray skin, as opposed to fur.
It’s face, perhaps my biggest failure, (though the t-rex arms were pretty bad, and that’s being generous) was supposed to be in a similar vein as The Silence, from Doctor Who, or that mask you see in Scream. Only with a ton of eyes.
Then it has a dark cloak over its back, the hood is optional, I’m not sure if I like it.
On a somewhat sad note, I am disturbingly proud of my ability to create the 3d effect of putting his other back leg in there.
Anyways, I’m going to take a nap, so the compendium post at the top of page 32 will probably get a little out of date. This thread is beyond awesome, btw. Huge thank you to the artists making squiggles into masterpieces, you guys are great!

The eel in mario n64 always scared me for some reason. Same with morray eels ,anglers, and lampreys. I was thinking of maybe doing a lamprey mouth for the main creature since then i'd have all of them covered but youd probably need a different angle to really make it work.
So anyways its a little submarine exploring a shipwreck with its flashlight. Sees that damn mario n64 eel but it's actually just the lure for the main monster with its big glossy angler eye. I think it might also work better if the angler leading to the little eel came from the bottom of his body through the sand into the ship(or it's his tail). Was imagining some cool lighting/water effects in my head since it's deep underwater with the minimal light source from the submarine. If someone decides to pimp my art thanks for your time in advance : D.

turned out really small this time. Zoom in on the picture to see that the harpoons are all poisoned. Also it has 2 sets of eyes, a lot of red ones for close combat and 2 blue eyes that provide it with long ranged vision for harpoon shots

We could put together some sort of Kingdom of Loathing style web rpg, and as the monsters slay the intrepid adventurers, they gain more abilities/power.
In my version, the monsters would ruthlessly slaughter adventurers 9/10 times, and the real game would be that after you defeat a monster, you get to wield it in a PvP monster arena.... wait a second, this sounds like pokemon.....

In my version, the monsters would ruthlessly slaughter adventurers 9/10 times, and the real game would be that after you defeat a monster, you get to wield it in a PvP monster arena.... wait a second, this sounds like pokemon.....

i'm not saying it can't be, i just say it wasn't supposed to be this way. But Coagulation holds all the cards on the blue robot, and if he feels like you do, then stomp robot shall be the remodeled blue robot after blank option ^^ then again, i have no saying in this.

Not our fault you baited us into picking the mystery option. It was well documented in the thread that we thought it'd be something awesome instead of you trolling us ^_^
Other solution would be to merge the 2 pojetcs; Blue Robot and his opponent have been captured by some aliens forces that recruited them to fight in the space dungeon arena (this plot is crap, i know). They would be the initial roster. LiquidBlue could make his comeback as a final boss...

That rival robot looked pretty tough, and the wizard took it out instantly. That spell must have been extremely powerful, and I'd wager it took up the wizard's entire mana pool. Let's attack the wizard while his mana is low!
If we try to run, he'll throw a dimensional anchor on us then proceed to play a game of snipe the robot with giant exploding balls of plasma. Better just kill him.

Perhaps he will underestimate us and get choked out by our power cord when he least expects it...or can wizards cast spells while they're choking.
I can't help but feel like Liquid'Blue had a lot more turns, or stats, or something. We're nearly done with the robot and he's 1/1/1 and only mated with one (?) thing, while the last one somehow found time to get it on with everything in sight and still manage something like 1/5/0.
EDIT: actually, 1/6/3. BlueBot is screwed.

Re-reading the thread, Liquid'Blue actually seems to have had twice as many turns, because he had both night and day for each one. Plus, he tended to get stats from every encounter no matter what he did, while both the toaster and the mystery option gave us nada.

Are they equally upgraded though? I mean it looks like blue has significantly more random little additions, powers etc. However the robot looks like a total beast of course. Amazing job again~
about a year ago when I did the first liquid creature thread. I wanted TL to build the super epic bad guy (liquid blue) and then build a hero to challenge him and save the universe (hotbotLOL)
As much as I'd love Hot_Bot to win (he has toaster kids waiting for him back home) I'm going to have to go with Liquid'Blue just on badassery. It looks like a Rorschach image stepped of the page, grew claws and teeth from sheer force of will and proceeded to devour the universe. I can't see how a skullbot with a power cord has a chance against it.
hologram projected image I think.. But im not sure. maybe the "visual representation" of the spirits it has consumed. maybe he fancys himself some kind of technological grim reaper absorbing people so thats why it chooses to convey itself as a skull.
