In light of a bunch of political correctness bullshit going on in the U.S. i've found these e-mails appropriate.
This is a Christmas tree. It is not a Hanukkah bush, it is not an Allah plant, it is not a Holiday hedge. It is a Christmas tree.
Say it... CHRISTmas , CHRISTmas , CHRISTmas
Yes. CHRISTmas - celebrating the Birth of Jesus Christ!!!
If this offends you...too bad.
Get over it ~ -----------------------------------
Paul Harvey and Prayer
Paul Harvey says:
I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.
Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.
So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.
"But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue.
Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect-somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.
If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.
If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.
And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome .
"But what about the atheists?" is another argument.
What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!
Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.
Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating; to pray before we go to sleep.
Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.
God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well ... just sue me.
The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority don't care what they want. It is time the majority rules! It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray; you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right. But by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back ... and we WILL WIN!
God bless us one and all ... especially those who denounce Him. God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all.
God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God.
May 2005 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions.

I totally agree with the man. Sometimes political correctness is ridiculous and annoys the hell out of me. If people want to call it a Christmas tree, let them call it a christmas tree. If they want to call it christmas break, why the hell do you care so much?
Seriously though, a christmas tree also really have no "religious" connotations with it so I don't really see why people even care what it is called? It has traditionally been called a christmas tree, just keep it at that.

not calling christmas trees christmas trees is fucking retarded
menorahs aren't called "holiday candle posts"
this islamic crescent isn't called the "holiday crescent"
why the fuck is a christmas tree different...

I bet all the Jews mad about the Christmas tree in Boston don't complain about their Christmas bonus. I figure this: We will call it a holiday tree, and they don't get their Christmas bonus, since it offends them so much.

fox news has been boiling the blood of their viewers by portraying "the evil liberal hollywood world that is out to stop them from being christian" as "trying to be too PC" calling them "holiday trees"

You guys are arguing about what to call a fucking tree? A TREE?
.....
And there's actually people who complain about people praying!?!? What the fuck? Are you sure? I mean, this isn't some joke? The lawyer bits.. they are actually serious..?

This was hilarious tho, given how christians, traditionally, have always been very fond of enforcing their beliefs upon others.

people are complaining about christmas being called christmas cuz its a christian name, so they want to have holiday trees instead of christmas trees and stuff like that, its really retarded, but honestly, christians getting all pissed off because of it is equally retarded.

In the U.S. there is a movement to secularize Christmas, led by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Americans United for the Seperation of Church and State. They threaten local authorities with lawsuits if they have things like a Christmas tree displayed on public property ^^; And unfortunately, many of those threats suceed because the authorities do not understand that secular symbols LIKE THE CHRISTMAS TREE have been recognized by the Supreme Court as such. It's a different story when the display is purely religious, like a nativity scene or a cross, in some situations those have been recognized as unconstitutional government endorsement of religion.
Anyway in a couple cities and even the U.S. Capitol Christmas trees are being silently renamed "Holiday trees" and it's ridiculous. So much so that there's now a small backlash from the conservative right led by Fox News. A Christmas tree is a Christmas tree, I think it's stupid that people even have to argue this.
As for prayer, they weren't complaining about people praying by themselves, I believe the issue is state sponsored prayer i.e. having the school administrators lead the audience in a Christian prayer using the public address system before each game. That is something that has been banned in our country. Paul Harvey's idea of tolerating government sponsored prayer, because after all it is only 30 seconds of your life, is a nice one in theory. And I'd subscribe to it if people were reasonable. Unfortunately they are not and we can't allow there to be de minimus violations of the Establishment Clause because once we have crossed that line there's no proper place to draw it again. I'm also worried that in some relatively recent cases the courts have pushed the balance too far against religion by banning cases where the students and not government agents like teachers/coaches/school administrators are sponsoring or endorsing the prayer message.
America: Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. Where people sue each other demanding a Christmas Tree be called a Holiday Tree and where major news networks pick up and run with the story.

I'm not christian but Christmas is a Christian Holiday. They have the right to call their tree for the day a Christmas Tree. The damn holiday has the dudes name in it ok? Who cares if it's a derived thing. Also, for all those who take part in Christmas joy and etc etc and then critisize the hypocrisy of Christmas or how its a giant money milker... Who gives a shit, people are celebrating and having a fun time. So what if they blow money on it? It's to make money flow and people have a good time that way. Why is everyone dogging Christmas? It's fun and let people celebrate how they want. For fucks sake, JLIG. Who cares what a tree is called....
