I am actually happy this is happening, people need to realise that games are ridiculously priced this days and games are frequently stripped of things that they SHOULD have at launch. Sc2 is one of the examples with its lack of features. Hope this becomes a lesson to all companies

I really wish there were ratings for how well LoL is doing on OGN. The Kotaku piece is really, really just an opinion piece with saying it's #1 due to the money that is put into the tournament. This is like saying last year SC2 was the #1 e-sport in Korea because GOM put so much money into the GSL and was giving a bigger payout than the Brood War tournaments. The title really should be changed if there isn't actual proof that LoL has taken over as the #1 e-sport over Brood War.

Yeah, it's taken over in PC Bangs and is more accessible due to it being new and free, but I don't know about being a bigger e-sport in Korea than Brood War.

You can actually swap the top and bottom lane if it favors you and competitive teams do it plenty of the time, so indeed there are 2 possible lane compositions. As a jungler is so essential though, how many possible ones are there, anyway? I guess if the champions that are able to 1v2 better on the sidelanes become increasingly popular, a 2v1 midlane might become a viable option.

How can one stand watching the same map being played over and over and over... again. I mean yes the gameplay is rich, but it's a lot less viewer friendly than SC 2.

Just another sign of gaming dying all around us.
Modern FPS, console ports,F2P but P2W, Facebook integration,DLC, MOBA's, Farmville, Angry Birds, the new JAG is crap, Elder Scrolls feel like Empty Scrolls, storylines and plots are ever worse, the StarCraft made with competitive side in mind is worse for it than the one that was not. Graphics are better but there's nothing to show.

Don't hate me, I know, time to unplug the interweb.

I play LoL as well but it's so damn easy.

Games like Dota, Sc, Quake, those are real esports. LoL is just a a casual game with a lot of money.

Doesn't make sense as an argument? Well darn! Maybe it's the 5v5 combination of 94 heroes possible that create the gameplay experience.

Not to hate on SC2 because I like SC2 as well. And for some reason the lot less viewer friendly game is pulling out 2 or 3 times the viewers SC2 does, explain that (to Blizzard)..

It's sad that the #1 MOBA game isn't DotA/DOTA 2. It's there the best MOBA players are. It's there they can show their true potential as a player and with their team. It's a hard game but it's also the best game in that genre. Ask yourself why the best teams in DotA shit on LoL as a game.

LoL being the #1 moba is like if Red Alert 3 or some other shit RTS would be #1 RTS when we have BW, SC2 and WC3.

Moving away from the esport thing, LoL is fine for casuals that just wants to have fun playing. Since it's the easiet moba with a shop you can buy cooL stuff in I totally understand that people like the game. It's just brilliant by Riot how they managed to get it so huge and so huge as an esport, respect!

Honestly LoL is a lot more fun and interesting than most people give it credit.

Its a very easy game to jump into and have a good time. People need to realize a game being difficult and fun are two different things. Most people play games for fun.

Hey, DotA 2 isn't even released yet and even small-ish tournaments get 30kish viewers. Consider that there's probably like 1000 times less players in DotA2 than in LoL currently and small-ish LoL tournaments get maybe 100k viewers. Maybe wait until the game is released? I'm sure that it is going to do fine as well.
