you're pulling statistic out of nowhere. LoL more viewer friendly than DotA? When did Riot finally add a functional spectating or replay system? DotA's viewer system is impeccable. Never miss the action, never miss a kill, always know all vital statistics. etc....
anyway... there are arguments for both sides. You could say LoL is more active due to fighting over buffs constantly, or that DotA is because you can dive towers much earlier in the game. etc etc.
I wish people in this thread informed themselves before spouting nonsense. Or at least not be rude towards other games. Is there a reason multiple esports can't coexist?

cant believe it.... why not atleast take dota2? lol is so goddamn aweful i want my good old games back T_T sad day for skill

I am fine with LoL becoming huge, my concern is that Blizzard is ruining SC2's potential. I want SC2 to also be huge.

Also, i dont know when it was decided that only mechanical skill is real skill in esports, but you guys might want to rethink that position.
Yeah, you don't need skill for chess. The only thing you do is move pieces with your fingers, and you don't even have a time limit. Lol what a joke of a sport.

See the pattern here? LoL fun. Sc2 competitive.
I've tried playing LoL alot because all my friends play it but i just can't enjoy it. Sc2 is the most fun game out there for me. Which games are fun or less fun is not objective, everybody has different opinions.

Wow some people here really hate everything but starcraft : o

That's a phase that will pass.
Just like how Soccer, Football, Baseball, Basketball and Hockey can all co-exist, SC2, LoL and DOTA2 will co-exist.

Tbh if LoL was so easy, guys like Destiny should be able to steamroll the competitive scene and take their share of the €5m for Season 2 right? I'd like to see the bigmouthed people step up and pick up the easy money if LoL is such a casual game and doesn't take long to master. no they are stuck in elohell because their mates are so bad xD
Yea, I always carry my lane like hardcore but the others feed Q_Q wat do?
Seriously, anyone claiming how Fkn easy LoL is, put your damn money where your mouth is, pick it up, roll a team up and go grab that prize money, should be NP NP because LoL is noskill game amirite?
Jesus this community sometimes. Sad part is, if you come read the LoL subforum, people aren't going out of their way to bash other games to oblivion. Everyone is pretty damn happy when SC2 does well, likes SC2 etc. Then you check the other side of fence and it's like dropping into bnet forums, what in the world?

As I mentioned previously, there are a lot of things that, being as unbiased as possible, make DotA games generally more exciting than LoL games including, but not limited to: - More active laning phase, with more frequent ganks and encounters that result in kills - No analogue to the mid-lategame phase where LoL teams will essentially all just posture mid for extended periods of time, fearing a Baron threat, but refusing to actually engage until one player makes an obvious mistake. - Greater comeback potential, due to wider spread of hero scaling and defensive advantage, coupled with the ability to buy back into the game (buybacks prevent the scenario of lose teamfight->immediately lose game).

I can't have fun with sc2, even with my highest mark (diamond) 70 weeks ago I was always feeling a scrub and never part of something, with lol i can play and make a difference, sc2 is competitive not fun so I agree with the guy. I still enjoy watching sc2 more than lol, but playing meh ...

It just needs to come out, every day it's not out is another day it falls behind LoL. DotA 2 is in all honesty the only MOBA that has a chance of competing with LoL. The whole game of LoL is designed around accessibility. That doesn't really mean that the skill ceiling is low at all, it's just very easy for new players to get into. It is able to draw a very large audience that way, especially with Riot supporting the E-sports side. And as far as tournaments go, the game is still young and the best playstyle doesn't really exist. IEM Hannover has shown us that unpredictable bans/picks and versatility in your comps are way more important. And thus, especially in the games with M5 (the eventual winner of IEM Hannover), the games were exciting from beginning to end. No boring farm phases. Which reminded me off DotA's constant ganks and plays. I tried HoN once, and couldn't make out anything. The graphic style is just abysmal. DotA 2 is a lot clearer on that. Along with LAN mode, good replay and spectator possibilities and possibly Valve pushing E-sports DotA 2 could be a very good candidate to take on LoL. ffs why anyone has to take over LoL? Is LoL evil or what? This game is free, huge support from developers and they don't sue others or use copyrighted staff there. You really need to be thankful to Riot for creating such thing. Sometimes this community amazes me. Now you're being overly defensive. He said "compete with" not "take over". Competition is good. It spurs competitors on to introduce new features and functionality that benefits everyone. Of all the raging and flamebaiting posts, you chose one that's actually sensible?
sorry, didn't read all trough, I was raging at community and mostly to other posts bashing LoL.

I found that I enjoyed 1v1 a lot more after picking a race, and watching top level streams of players with my race to learn from their first person view.

For me DotA is Dota 3.7c for RoC where i would /join dota, look for or host private games with password/quizz/spots reserved for the most famous dotaers (usually 9 people you know from /dota). And Danite's Hell cause it was fun sometimes in between two 3.7c. So Lol/HoN/Dota2/Allstars are all just pale imitations of the true dota for me. I would be sad if it would beat Starcraft (BW or 2) in Korea or everywhere else. But i don't think one guy saying "OMGOMG LoL is #1 now, lol !§!1" makes it true.

Would've wanted SC2 to take that spot :/ LoL is fun to play, but in my opinion it just gets really really pushed as an esports by riot, because they think this will pay off for them... But I cant believe that LoL takes this spot in ~3 months...
|
Viewing from the view of comparing the games, this is in no way amazing news. The quality of competitive SC2 WAY worse than BW and as we have all people going away from BW to SC2, something has to take that spot. I personally don't like LoL, or MOBA's in general. but it seems a lot more competitive and fair (and interesting) than SC2 right now.
From an e-sport fan, that's amazing having more more different games being thrown at the big stage, and having more different people watching. And I think it's pointless hating LoL or whatever. If we want the e-sports scene to grow, we better stand together. And I realy wish with thew expansions SC2 can shape into a deeper sport and one day it will deserve to take BW spot. But not right now. And I will keep watching all 3 (and Tekken, because Tekken is awesome).
|
I really think they should start enforcing bans for the pointless hate towards LoL in the same way that they did when SC2 game out and brood war fans couldn't badmouth it(for the exact same reasons). Constructive, well-argumented opinion is fine, but just saying something like "OMG LOL SUCKS NO SKILL" adds absolutely nothing and makes you look like an idiot.
If it's so easy why dont't you and 4 of your buddies go and become a millionaire?
|
LOL, what. How does a casual game that has no competitive aspect become to the most competitive game in the most competitive country? If this is warn worthy so be it, but I just don't see how the lackluster title called LoL is at the top of eSports. I guess DotA2 will easily become the biggest eSport at this rate.

Play it and you'll see it. Sure, the mechanical aspect is easy. But that's where the easy part ends. For a lot of people this actually is a big hurdle: You can't just mass game to improve your mechanics and become "better" by that. You actually have to think (and coordinate) in LoL. There are endless numbers of matchups: 5 vs 5 out of a pool of ~70 characters, that makes for something like 1.439.561.377.475.020.800 combinations. Nope, pure practice won't cover that.

My concern is that big name Broodwar pros have been saying they'd rather switch to LoL than SC2.
