I love them both, but 2 completely different things IMO.

Why is it that this thread is always bumped late at night? It makes me so hungry... I think I am going to have to pick some up tomorrow so I can cook it whenever this thread pops up.

Yeah, same here. There's this 99 cents store I know that has a ramen aisle and I was thinking about this thread when I was there today.

I head to this place every few months for some amazing ramen. With that said, I still love dressing up my instant noodles. :3

my friends told me about a ramen style these days, that seems pretty interesting.
Basically, you open the package while u have water boiling,
your ramen should come with 2 packages in it, vegetables, and seasoning.
Place the seasoning aside, and cook the noodles with the vegetable. When they are both cooked, drain everything but noodles and vegetables. So NO water. put the ramen noodles+veggies back in the pot, and pour seasoning over it. Stir and enjoy! =] this style is how you prepare a different korean instant noodle dish called jjappagetti or chapagetti? im not sure how you spell it http://www.amazon.com/Nong-Shim-Chapagetti-4-5-Ounce-Packages/dp/B000LQNK50but it's delicious, i've never tried it with ramen though Nong Shim (I think?) spells it Chapaghetti on the American packaging, and yeah shit is real good.

I cook fresh water separately.
After the ramen is boiled, I flush it with cold water very quickly.
Then put it into the bowl and then add the boiled water.
This way, the ramen has a more chewy texture to it. I do it this way too, but more so that the soup water doesn't have as much of the starch from the noodles in it and makes it less thick.

I never knew that people put so much effort into their ramen, this intrigues me. I bought both top ramen(chicken) and some kimchi ramen(i think it beef flavor). I'm too lazy to add all the stuff you guys add to it, but will try it with an egg and maybe soy sauce and if I like it, will try other stuff. Does egg go with any flavor ramen?

Egg goes well with pretty much anything. I prefer to break it up and mix it into the soup (basically, adding it at the very last second so it doesn't boil into a solid), but others like to cook it more.

2 eggs per pack of instant ramen... pretty good stuff. Also taking the water out before putting in the powder makes it a lot more flavorful.

I only seem to have access to Maruchan ramen packages, but I try to spice things up a bit.
My go-to recipe:
3.5 cups water 2 Ramen packages THROW AWAY THE FLAVOR PACKET Chili powder Cayenne powder Low sodium soy sauce Vanilla extract Eggs Black pepper
Put a lot of chili powder, a decent amount of cayenne powder, a dash of soy sauce and about 1/4 tablespoon of vanilla extract into the water, stir it up and then boil. Put in the ramen for 2.5 minutes on low-medium heat, turn flame off, drop 3 eggs in and stir. Drain about 1/5th of the broth, put black pepper on top, serve.

Top Ramen is some pretty awful stuff. If you live anywhere near an Asian supermarket you should try out some higher quality brands.

I create the Universe before making the Ramen.

haha OMG. why is this thread so high @ 03:28AM.... I know what I'm making for breakfast!!! !
|
Step 1: Boil Water. Step 2: Fuckin beat an egg in a bowl til that shit is scrambled. Step 3: Put the ramen noodles in the water, break it up however you see fit. Pour egg in immediately after. Step 4: Drain, add sauce, sriracha and enjoy.
