Don't eat instant ramen too much. It has enough sodium to kill a small creature.

I cook it normally, whole block in hot water etc, then add the powder, strain out the water, then add hotsauce. The result is a little bit of flavoring but not enough to make you gag from the salt, and spicy!

I often make "ramen-pasta" - I use less water so that there is no soup but only noodles. I also put in an Egg, Onions and extra Soy and Sweet&Sour-Sauce.

damn; now I'm hungry... ^^'

My style:

First in a cooking bowl, I put some kimchi and add water. Then i proceed by adding some soup stock(?)[in korean it's called : 다시다]. Then i proceed by adding some sausages. Boil the soup for around 15min, then I just put some noodles in.

its way better than instant noodles

EDIT: SHIT! how can i forget the EGGS!
EDIT2: and the mushrooms. my brain is like dead today -.-

I know it's not exactly the same but an alternative to try and one of my favorites despite a lack of soup.

Mi Goreng

Friends call it dried noodles since it's served without soup.

I tried the egg but it just makes the ramen goopy and gross...its ok but i prefer it without.

That or cook the egg separately and then cut up and add.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

Zha Jiang Mian is the Northern Chinese noodle Marco Polo took back to Italy and from it came Spaghetti Bolognese.

Less soupy and more saucy is what I like usually, but ramen is the bombz.

Why not just use better noodles? Those noodles are fried. Might as well completely remove ramen and make good noodle.

Because they're cheap, and I'm a graduate student.

Cheaper noodles let me spend more on the stuff I'm adding to the noodles.

Aren't the 1 lb packages of noodles cheaper than those Ramen packets? You might have to make it into an Asian ethnic shop, and ramen does have a distinct kind of taste.

1lb of ramen?

Do you mean just dried noodles? I've never seen 1lb of ramen in one package before. Show me one.

Well, ramen's not the only types of instant noodle. There are totally awesome types of clear glass noodles that are even better imo.

Unless the ramen's fresh and cooked by a chef, in which case it's fucking gourmet.

I use chicken flavor, cook an egg with it, and also sprinkle some green onions.
Kind of a really poor mans pho.

This might have been mentioned somewhere in the 26 preceding pages, but I recall that instant noodles usually are preserved with wax, so you're supposed to boil it in a small pot, and then move the noodles and recook them (with the wax now safely melted in the first pot). I rarely eat it though

this is kinda obvious but today was feelin extra lazy and i made some ramen by putting it straight in a bowl and putting bowling water in it by itself.
sure taste waaaaaaaaaaaaay different (in a negative way) then heating up a pot and cooking it with other ingredients lol

realized that its always worth the prep/cook time doing ti the slow way

Funny story that might fit in this thread.

A friend and I were hungry at about 1am, so we went down to the dorm store and bought a couple of shinramen. When we walked back up to my place, we realized our folly...we didn't have fucking pots to make it in. We should have bought the cup ramen, but we weren't really thinking at the time. We just bought the damn things. Since this is a dorm no one on our floor had any pots, just a bunch of asians with water boilers.

Then my friend thought up of a genius idea.....

We proceed to tear open just the top part of the bag, empty the hot stuff and dried vegetables into the ramen bag. Then we poor the hot water into the bag. Hold it up for a few minutes then eat it straight out of the bag like fucking hobos. Idiocy cured by a stroke of genius.

Well...later he later told me this was a trick that they used in the Korean army a long time ago..but I still thought it was pretty cool.

Edit: grammar pwned

I crush the block of noodles inside the package without opening it, then open one end and pour in the seasoning, then shake it all up and it's a very tasty dry snack similar to chips or chex mix or something.

I've done this many times whenever I'm desperate. It always works with the hot water from the water dispensers.

Depends, if I'm eatin it as an actual meal and I can do this I like to boil some tomatoes and then put the noodles in and with and add an egg later. If I'm just gonna eat it as a snack I crush it in the bag
and just put the sauce in and eat it

What I prefer doing now, is I just boil the noodles, and make stir fry beef, peppers and onions, throw in the pre-cooked noodles, add soy, stir and enjoy. Amazingly, it can be done in a college dorm, and has less sodium than the regular flavor pack

1. Boil water
2. Poach an egg
3. Put the vegetables in
4. Put the noodles in
5. Put the sauce on top
6. Bring the poached egg on top of the noodles
7. It's ready to eat, let the yolk ooze on the noddles :D
